Clicked the video because "Poor Man's..." was in the title. Subscribed because the channels name is " Budget Ham Radio!" 👍

Gave this a try today. Just tuned into 20m with a single radial and it was working great. Feedpoint impedance was around 36ohms so swr at feedpoint was 1.6 but after 50ft of cable to the indoor radio the radio was seeing 1.1. Odd. Anyway on 50W with radial point SE I was getting good signal reports in GA, SC, VA and TN from
    MI. Thanks for the videos.

Thanks for watching! With 2 elevated radials it will work even better. And SWR will most likely change also. E sure to subscribe for more.

Thank you, Jerry, for this video. I have wondered what effect a carbon fiber mast
would have on a vertical antenna. You have done a very good job answering
that question for me. By the way I also liked your video for the Poor Man's
    POTA PERformer. Gary KF6EWO

Thanks for the information sir been using a homebrew linked dipole to cover the higher bands I will try on my 10m fibreglass mast see what the results show, happy thanksgiving Tony M7CVK

Hi Jerry: I too run the POTAPerformer with great success. I use WAGO single connectors for the adjustable link junctions which work very well. I was thinking about adding a third and then a fourth counterpoise to the configuration as an experiment. Would place the “new” counterpoise in between the original two at which are at 90 degrees. As a vertical driven element I use a 19 foot stainless steel whip from Chameleon Antennas. The POTAPerformer is a very nice adjustable multi-band antenna. I have not done any experiments with the height and angle(s) of the counterpoise(s) which may have a real relationship on performance. Thanks 73 Art W1SWL

Art, You never know until you try. I have had great success with this antenna and willbe doing more experiments and modeling. The antenna was developed by KJ6ER and I have just modified it to use the linked wire vertical. Good luck and most of all Have Fun!

Thanks for watching. Not sure if you mean aluminum tubing or what. Regardless, have fun with your radio. 73.

Hello from New Zealand. I have watched all your vis so-far and subscribed. I am using a 10 m carbon fibre mast on a tripod and 10w sdr radio. You used an antenna tuner, which I also use. But only works below 1:2.0swr. My question is :- is there an antenna tuner to bring it down from say 1:5.1. I also have a Z-match, but that is for 5watts. I would like to use up to 50w.
Great videos and great work. The common mode choke design would be great. Thanks and regards. Sandy, ZL3AXL. 73

If I understand your question correctly, If you have the same Antuner that you see in my video, it allows you to configure the threshold of where the automatic tuner will kick in. The video on the choke should be out in a week or so . Subscribe so you will get the notification when it is posted. Thanks!

You said you were using the 10m mast but you didn’t mention the antenna. Are you using my design? If so are you using the version 2 specs? Version 2 should have lower SWR than version 1.

@ not got that far yet. Currently using 5.2 meters of wire with 9:1 balun and one radial, but will go to 2 elevated radials. I like your approach - very methodical. I have a 5.2m telescopic whip that could be deployed, and adjusted.
