I love them because: They're Inexpensive to purchase outright. Maintenance is cheap. Insurance is cheap. Very reliable. Easy to find one with low miles in very clean pristine condition. And my favorite - Nobody wants them because they're very plain Jane, doesn't get any attention, not a target for thieves for the most part. At this point in my life all I want is basic transportation that has all of the above mentioned without attracting attention. Been there, done that with the whole fancy car thing.
My dad had one just like the one in this video and he would put about 100 miles on it every day. It never let him down and he never spent a cent on repairs besides the normal maintenance like the oil change and the tires. He traded it in with almost 200,000 miles and it still ran like a dream. Excellent little car.
Great cars and great on gas when you never know what the price of gas will be from one week to the next.Hyundai Accent beats the hell out of GM products ive owned over the years
This is my fiancee's car. She drives it every day, many miles. It hasn't once broken down, and she puts it through it's paces. Hats off to Hyundai on this one- cheap and reliable.
When our 2008 Dodge Caravans transmission broke at 91,270 kilometres we got a 2010 Accent sedan rental and it had a square cup holder in the backseat.. which means my chocolate milk carton fit perfect, it's actually a pretty nice car, was comfortable and was good for city driving.
Guy at work has one. He bought it new. Still runs great. It needs new hub caps but otherwise it looks good too. I'm sure it has at least 150k miles. He maintains it very well.
I have rented these cars and thought they are fun to drive, so I decided to buy one.. It was very cheap and drives good with great room on the inside.. I am 6,4 about 300 and I can honestly say I am comfortable driving this.. Not a chick mobile, but if your just wanting a reliable car to get to point A to point B you can't beat them for the value.
Yes... it's amazing to see Hyundai "all growed up" and building serious competition against the "Big Three" (Honda, Toyota, and Nissan). You can't beat the warranty, and they sure are pretty well featured for their price range. I've never owned one, but I would consider it.
Great video as always Kyle! One of my ex girlfriends had an '07 Accent, it was a nice little car, had a sunroof, CD and tape. My dad had the sedan as a rental a few months ago. It wasn't bad for short drives.
The reason these little Hyundai cars were great is they had a cast iron engine block modeled after the Toyotas of the 80s and early 90s which always ran cool and never used oil. Just put clean oil and tires and changed the plugs and coils every couple years and don't forget the timing belt replacement.I bought one and love it.
Bought the manual version of this last year, never liked it much but was using it as a way to help build credit. Put 35000km on it in the past 11 months, never had a single problem, somewhat won me over, but not enough to keep me from trading for a 2014 mazda 3 last week.
I am very happy with my 5-speed 2010 Hyundai. A nice utilitarian vehicle. (Reminds me how VW's used to be, without the over 55mph shimmy, for those of you who remember old bugs.) I put a lot of miles on her and she can hold her own at 80+mph on the highways. She is a reliable auto and I love that she is so cute and so spacious in the hatchback, although not as large as an old VW Golf. Great car. Wouldn't trade her for the world.
GOTTshua I have a 2009 kia rio love it just as good mines the sx model woth the power package Kia had a warranty update on the boots and the stuff inside it (the thing that is behind the tires on the front) it helped the shake my car now shakes at 100 that's it don't really shake any lower
1:42 reminds me of my grandma’s 1997 Mercury Villager GS door-chime, except this one it a faster tempo, plus one of the last Hyundai’s to have that door-chime.
I've had this video in ," Save For Later " for quite some time now as I fully intend to buy a good used one eventually . Great attention to all those details that I love ... Thank You !
My dad has a 2008 Hyundai Accent GS hatchback. It has manual windows, locks, and transmission. If it was a higher trim level, it would have power locks, windows, and an automatic transmission. Still a nice car.
i'm gonna be 55 and i like smaller cars now. i used to drive big boats(mostly chevy's...lol) all my life, this past 2 years i've been driving a chevy aveo. but i have friends saying this Hyundia is a better car. there is one for sale near me, i should go look at low milage, and pretty good deal too. Thanks for sharing. good luck with the sale!!!
Yay for the door chime! Reminds me of the old Nissans from the 80s and early 90s. Such a cool sounds. Makes one wonder why they abandoned it for a monotonous beep.
I think this car is pretty underrated in it's class. I've sat in the SE version multiple years at the autoshow here and find the interior ambience alot better then the Chevy Aveo and Toyota Yaris. Atleast it looks like some effort was put into a the interior and you can't really complain for a sub 15k car. I always wondered how the SE with the 5 speed drove though.
I bought my 2010 in 2019 for $2,500 from a friend who bought it new. And sold it to me with 62,000 miles now it has 74,000 miles on it and rides like new.😎 Just changed the basic things on it tires, brakes, engine oil and wipers that’s it. 💯 I saw one on Craigslist with 115,000 miles for $7,500🤣
i'm 20 yrs old and i bought this car brand new, making payments of 170.00monthly and i am happy going to college in my new car instead of a rusted out civic or corolla. 5 speed manual transmission is the better choice for this car! i am happy with it!!
The 2010 Accent is so basic compared to the 2017 but I seen those a lot on the road and that’s a great thing. The brand has come a long way since it first hit the USA
I had a 2008 accent GS 5 speed and now a 2009 SE 5 speed, the SE handles so much better and actually better than many cars, i just put a set of General G Max tires on, far superior to the Kumho KH -16, better handling and smoother too
I really like this car as it has a lot of good features for its price but that chime would literally drive me insane... My cousin had a 2002 Sonata with that chime I figured it would have changed by 2005 at least.
I honestly wouldn't mind driving one of these at all. Basic, but to me they've got character whereas others would say they're just bland. I kind of like the "basicness" of this car.
I have been considering one of these. How is the reliability? Id like one to drive as a fuel saving daily as the hatchback has ample cargo space for my needs.
@takerisen18 well i can't tell you if is it better than the chevy aveo or not because i never thought about test drive an aveo. what i can tell you is that the suspension handle potholes better than my uncles 09 ford focus. the accent is very roomy, if you get the se trim the suspesion is very sporty and on the gs trim is comfortable but if you have passenger in the back the car feels a little bouncy. hope i answered your question!
I own a 4 door versión and this was a pain. Fixing O2 sensor almost makes me change the ecu. Once is fix this car was very very good. Simple and roomy.
This is probably the last year of the bell chime But why? That bell chime is so good I love it. It is so good. They’ve been using it since 1981. And they could’ve used it for more years, but then they had to change to a Mitsubishi style chime at least a new Mitsubishi style chime and then the Toyota style charm. I don’t know why. But they could’ve used that bill for longer.
I have a hyundai accent that looks like this but it's an 07. Ive got a cat back exhaust on it with a magnaflow muffler. makes the car sound so much better. Great car, I get between 39.5 and 40.5 mpg going 100 kpm highway, sometimes better.
i got a slightly damaged se 3 door H/B ITS GOT EVERYTHING including foglights/rear spoiler /tinted glass, sport susp, better audio head unit, only 406 miles on it, looking for a clean sheetmetal nose, we got 2 flooded base sedans but the metal is different :(
I've got a 2008 GS hatch in Tango Red. It's got its share of problems, but that's only because it wasn't as well maintained when it was my dad's >.> But it's mine now, and I intent to make it last.

My dad owns a 2009 with almost 300k km and it still runs well, pretty nice car, comfortable, reliable and cheap to maintain
That is the cutest sounding seatbelt chime
I was very happy to hear such a nice chime. Polite, not annoying.
it's one of the main reasons I miss my 2005 Accent. But all Hyundais had that chime until 2005. Then only the accent had it
its an actually bell being hit by a hammer
Bunch of 2000s Hyundai's such as the Lavita have that seatbelt chime.
A Dodge attitude had one, (captive import accent).
Me: wow that's super clean for a 2010
Me: 19 miles on the odometer??

Absolutely love the door chime. 😍
My late father used this car from 2008 to 2010.It's really nostalgic especially the seatbelt chime.

I'm still confused why the 2011 has manual window rollers while the 2010 has automatic. Please, can someone explain this atrocity?
It depends on what trim level they are. Power windows are optional, roll-down windows are standard.
My dad has a 2008 Hyundai Accent GS hatchback. It has manual windows, locks, and transmission. If it was a higher trim level, it would have power locks, windows, and an automatic transmission. Still a nice car.
