People always say that Mike is talented in his own right and that he doesn't need a gimmick, but I disagree with that. He is supremely talented as Mike, but Puddles is so much more than a gimmick. I've never seen him live but hope to one day. He has the ability to make the happiest song sound melancholy but it makes me smile every time. He's not just a tall man with a great voice. He is a true entertainer.
I agree whole-heartedly!! People who think the clowning is a gimmick don't understand performance art. He's not just a singer in a clown outfit, he's a singing CLOWN!
Every time I see him perform I have this mix of: I can't believe what I'm seeing/hearing, and I just break down and weep like a baby. It's something so heart achingly beautiful, honest and true, as sad as losing the love of your life, and yet absolutely uplifting like falling in love for the first time, all at once.
Really. He's a 6' 7 1/2".. 300lb man built like a middle lineman. He's not afraid of the heckler and the heckler has no idea of what he'd look like up close.
First of all, who heckles a clown - and WHY? I think, if the loudmouth wants to do running commentary, he should take up performing stand-up comedy. Then, he can find out for himself what it's like to be heckled when you're trying to be funny. Second, Puddles handled it like a pro. He always does. He's a consummate pro, not to mention a sweetheart. (I'd have arranged those fingers a lot differently. In fact, when Robin Williams would get heckled in his early career, he'd pull out an imaginary device he called an "A**hole Detector." I watched him do it several times. It killed.) Puddles kills with kindness. Third, I wish I could've been there. Thanks for posting your videos.

Gorgeous song and a beautiful cover,. However, you are big fella should have put that heckler in his place. Make sure he never pulls a stunt like that again. Take it from this Cleveland Shanty Irish , bog trotting Taig, weakness just invites more aggression.
Could just be how the mic picked it up. Maybe she is sort of covering it, so the deep parts come through more. Idk. I doubt it sounded like that in person
