- This CD-ROM game was hard to run, so I'm not showing the entirety of the game. For some reason different combinations of hardware had glitches whenever there was a 3D scene. And the music would not play. In this video the 3D performance is also pretty low even though the game is not demanding. I'm releasing this video so there's at least a record of it somewhere.

Generation Girl Gotta Groove CD-ROM is a PC game for Generation Girl. The game was released in 1999/2001, and it was also released as part of Barbie Birthday Collection CD-ROMS.

"Welcome to Generation Girl Gotta Groove CD-ROM where dancing, cool music and friendship are where it's at! The Generation Girl friends love to do things together, especially dance. Ana knows salsa, Nichelle lives for swing dancing, while Tori loves athletic hip-hop moves. Chelsie does dreamy European dances, and Barbie loves dancing to pop music. Lara will assist you in creating cool sets for your final performance.
You'll love helping each Generation Girl share her own special moves with her friends. Getting ready for the big dance performance at the International High School in New York is the best, as you help the girls create and practice routines, choose cool costumes and design beautiful stage sets. Then you get to put on your special show in the Performance Dome. Together, well all be the stars of the show!

my fav thing about this game is if you put the CD ROM in a regular CD player it would play the music from the game. that technology blew my child mind.

Watching this healed something in me 🥲 This game is such a core memory for me. From the cards, adding sparkles to all the outfits, the crazy backgrounds and lights. I’m so glad I get to see it in action again. Thank you for this!

WOW this hit me like a truck. I completely forgot about this game
I just kept remembering "Christopher Columbus, there's not a girl among us that's happier than me" from the song that Ana sings and realizing as a young adult now that this being the only part of the game that I remember after roughly 17 years is probably because I sensed something wrong with Barbie really saying, yep, let's make the hispanic girl sing happily about Christopher Columbus of all people because she's hispanic, and we're cultured... I still laugh about this on a daily basis, so it's nice to see this now that my CD is lost because it probably ended up in the trash or at a garage sale somewhere a long time ago.
OMG, that's also the ONLY part of the game that I remember as well. I think this was the first CD-ROM game I ever played as a kid.
