No you don’t have to write the original text. Since you will be using your own template, you can change the words. Same rule applies to tense. Should I write ✍️ in past tense or present tense ? This will not matter or at least points will not be deducted.

There is no such thing as 'describe about' as describe is not followed by the preposition.
In that case, you can write The lecture describes ....without the preposition ‘about’.
