- So maybe shooting homemade earplug bullets at my wall wasn't the best idea...In this video we show how to make homemade bullets from foam. Think you have what it takes to make homemade ammo? You can also use a gun to dispense an earplug direct to your ear with a round.

You could try it from relatively far away with no damage. Especially just with the primer. In a worst case scenario it would only leave a welt, probably not much of anything else.

I've heard that hot glue bullets work pretty well. You'd need a bullet mold of course (like a Lee four cavity one) to cast them.
From the inspiration video for this, the earplugs they used were almost flush in the cartridge. That might influence both the accuracy, and the damage to the earplugs.

I believe the „earplugs as bullets“ idea actually originated from a news reporter thinking that earplugs found on the ground near a riot were rubber bullets.

That’s a lot of damage
As a correctional officer we used foam rounds in the 40mm and accuracy is not that great once you get beyond about 50 feet. Our rounds had a hard plastic piece between the foam and the propellent to keep the foam from being shredded by the blast.

Now it would be interesting to load a bullet to the casing without the gunpowder and see if it would leave the barrel and with what energy. Maybe a future experiment?
That actually happens once in awhile to bullet reloaders (and to me). Depending on the kind of loader you have, it's possible to end up with a bullet crimped onto a case without gunpowder, and what usually happens is that the bullet gets lodged in the barrel and has to be hammered out with a dowel. This is called a squib.
What's especially dangerous is if the bullet gets lodged in the barrel and you don't realize it. Then the next round can impact the stuck bullet in the barrel and the whole gun can explode. It's no bueno. Brandon Lee was killed in an accidental firing of a squib that lodged in a blank gun on the set of The Crow.

Please.... don't attempt this, anybody. Unless you already are very familiar with squib loads and just want to educate people on what can happen, don't do it. Don't load your gun with anything besides bullets made for your gun. If you like making your own rounds, fine, but just know that's where a lot of gun accidents come from.
Juho Leiniö bullets are pretty tight into the shell casing, it would be difficult to get t to leave the barrel. Also taking into account the weight of the bullet as opposed to the earplug.
Wife comes home sees the damage, uses you as the balloon with bullet still in the casing, I know that's what mine would do haha

neodymium magnets are given a magnetic field by massive electromagnets once they are made to shape. it has to do with the orientation of electrons of the neodymium atoms. There is a interesting documentary of how magnets are made.
