Gosh I miss Martina’s game! She really could do it all! And despite her lack of sheer power she was really an agressive player. She took so much time away from her opponents by taking the ball early, it is beautiful to watch

Schiavone showed glimpses of her talent in this match, but she really did not hit her peak until 9-10 years later. Her French Open win in 2010 was really something to watch. She played the match of her life in the final. She had such a beautiful game and a great personality. Miss her.

I saw Schiavone play in real life at a tourney. She had a beautiful-looking backhand with a great all-around game.

Thanks so much, Martina’s anticipation and drop shots on full display. Maybe Martina’s last great match at RG? She didn’t play well in the semis vs Capriati, only played in 2006 in her first comeback and wasn’t as in form as she had just been in Rome(another tournament where she beat Schiavone 😊). Even though she didn’t win RG she could play so brilliantly on clay.

At the time it didn’t feel like a big win, but in retrospect, it was good… Schiavone would go on to reach 2 RG finals and win one

2010 Schiavone would have destroyed this Hingis, she was yet to develop her aggressive game here

Not so sure about that. She lost twice to Hingis in 2006 and Hingis was far from her best.
