Such truth. This episode in particular she was holding it down so hard. You can’t not marvel at McKinnon and so many of the cast are just stellar - but Cecily’s range is so fucking solid. Her Jeannine Periro is so goddamn good. And this character too. She’s phenomenal.

We already have border walls up on southern border, but none on Northern border. Why not do away with visa program then, which is how a vast amount of illegals come into our country now. You really don't care about border security at all, just the color of the people coming over the southern border. Because if you really cared you would want to put the wall at the most vulnerable places the Canadian border and do away with the visa programs.

Sorry for being that guy, but I just looked this up and I consider it fascinating so hopefully you don't mind me sharing. Turns out the auditorium where they shoot is considered private space, which is why you need a ticket to get in; lawfully the could do whatever they want in there. The issue comes more from the FCC fines they might get for broadcasting the person smoking, (which is obviously not a can of worms they wanted to deal with for a throw-away joke,) but even then they can a special dispensation to allow it, which they've done before.

Right yeah. They went to the FCC and told them "we want a character to smoke in this sketch" and the FCC tells them yes or no. I assume they're more lax about the rules since it airs so late. The only difference here is they didn't feel like firing off an email, plus it's like a running gag that Cathy Anne is almost always on the verge of lighting the cigarette.
Or hell maybe they just pay the fines. It is shot live and SNL isn't known for having the most stable cast members so I'm sure there have been times when that cigarette gets lit whether they have the nod or not.

I’ve never seen this SNL character before but I want to see her more often. It’s not often I see a character that’s not only funny but really well-written and true to life. Cathy Anne is her best character and my favorite on the show. She's so realistic. I just read below Cecily has never received an award. She is a great comedian. Please give this woman an award. People's choice. And I agree she is tops for all time with Kate McKinnon. Kate can play every old dogger in the 3 branches of government. I loved Tina Fey too. The best guest actor actually plays in dramas and thrillers mostly, which is why most people don't think of him as a comedian. But, I think is Matt Damon just nails his characters, every time. He is so funny just due to how close he can play a real character. His Kavanaugh impersonation had me rolling. That skit right there should win an award and the writers who wrote it too. Don't forget them. You guys just nailed that one. I hope Kavanaugh will be called on the carpet again. I'm not sure this one is over. If he is, please bring back Matt Damon to play his character.
