Reinkaos was the gateway for me to Dissection due to Mahakali as I was listening to Devadevam by RC sure it doesn’t sounds heavy as Somberlain or Storm of the Night’s Bane but still has some symbolic meaning behind it nonetheless I’m glad I found Dissection 🤘🏻

Nu Metal Dissection!!!! I was so disappointed when it first came out; now, I give it a full listen several times a week-I prefer it to the Somberlain-Storm of the Light's Bane . . . Nothing tops that album. God of Forbidden Light is what got me. I hated the detuned guitars....and the chopped-down, minimal drumming.... Out of all the '90s Scandinavian bands and their post-classic phase, Dissection did the best.

I don’t understand why this album was so hated. Sure it’s not as good as SotLB but that was one of the greatest albums of all time. This one tread a different path and did so successfully - great songs with great riffs.
I think thematically and lyrically, this is the best Dissection. Love the lyrics on this album. Especially on Beyond the Horizon. I still remember when this first came out and people were comparing it to In Flames and Soilwork and the “Gothenburg” sound. I’m 38 now.

Art is "despised" by him. It does not fit there, except if it is very primitive and lacking fantasy. Fantasy is God-given and Satan envies those having it. By God I don't mean the christian god. I myself am not fan of the Christianity either. But you have to admit there is God if you think there is Satan. In general all those pseudo-satanists are somehow misguided and think they are satanist but they value things like order, beauty, health, compassion, empathy, honesty, modesty and so on.
Not the most typical black metal. I like it. Nice solos and understandable song, catchy chorus, recognisibly song patterns... a bit more "mainstream or commercial" but it's a nice album. I'm coming back to it more and more.
I feel vindicated in loving this album when it came out. it was absolutely destroyed back in 2006 by critics and fans for the stylistic change. I feel it gets the flowers it deserves far more now than before.
I wish I could find more albums like this where you can understand what they are saying, devoted to Lucifer, and with complex rhythms and changes that actually sound different. So much black metal sounds alike and the mixing makes it to where you can barely hear the voices.

Dissection was heavily influenced by Black Metal, and was around when the second wave of Black Metal started, so it may explain... But anyway, it isn't really Black Metal, at least for me... Dissection is more Death Metal than anything else.
one of the most controversial metal albums next to Roots, and I think it's aged amazingly. the mix was very of its time but suits the masterfully composed songs nicely.
