@@agentduck9285 Really? That is very unexpected. Definitely felt like the type of game which is slightly on the older side and just wasn't worth spending more time and effort developing, made a few years back before the "mobile games" we know nowadays kicked in. This is further reinforced by the fact that it is indeed made in 2016. Wouldn't think hexage would come through with it all the way with this game. The singlehandedly BIGGEST issue with redcon is the lack of replayability. Throw in a level select for the campaign, a custom level creator (choose fort, rooms, perks for both you and enemy), maybe even some daily challenges and the average player will spend more than twice as long on the game now, while also creating more opportunities for content hidden behind a paywall, mainly being the custom level creator, so mobile profits might even be boosted by some percentage (first few levels free on mobile, I'm sure you know). Some extra big things that could be added is mod support for steam, and multiplayer. Aside from all that some less likely but possible decisions would be they add more content, more levels, or anything really. Idk bro I just felt like writing an essay don't question lol
REDCON is one of the best games ever made, and the plot behind is also great. Sad that there is no prequel to it. Would love to see something about the Great Unification War.
I must say, checking out the rest of the videos that you have on your channel, you have great taste. I am a fan of all the games you've played or mentioned. Airships conquer the skies? Rimworld? Forts? Xcom? All fantastic! I'm looking forward to that redcon based airships conquer the skies mod coming out some time in the future.
@@abercrombieblovs2042 There's a trailer for it somewhere on youtube. I have airships conquer the skies, but I never bothered to check out the mod again. I planned to check in on it eventually, and that time has arrived. Who knows? maybe the mod is discontinued, maybe it's released already, but most likely it's not done. Trust me, you'll find the trailer if you look for it, just search up both games + mod/trailer.
Good review of the game with valid criticisms for the PC port. A few things: - While Orion as an EMP weapons is poor, Hyperion is often slept on with its insane 9 second reload with 2 operators and 6 power drain - it's actually faster than the Typhon, which has a minimum cooldown of 11 seconds. Sadly, there's rarely enough space for it on most forts as in the game you really want to be blowing up your enemy asap with every weapon you've got. - I agree that it's nice that the game allows you to unlock all weapons pretty quickly in terms of gameplay progression. If you're particularly tenacious, killing every single enemy soldier allows you to unlock things even faster; you can unlock things like Scrambler or the Omega before Kranz can show it off (which gives you well over 50 levels of messing with the cool weapons). - Lastly, Hexage has stated that if they ever went back to update Redcon, they agreed that it will need the QoL features you've mentioned - level select, potentially a skirmish mode, and the popularly requested multiplayer mode (although they would like to finish the development of Flying Tank first). Overall it's nice seeing new players getting into this game as a veteran player and I hope that the hypothetical multiplayer mode would attract more players to it. I think as a PC port it's alright but as a mobile game it truly shines from the competition, which is why I have so much respect for the company.
I personally don't use orion and hyperion, but they are best paired together. When the enemy's excess power has been depleted the hyperion's no better than orion since within that situation the only thing which matters is the firerate to disable as many targets as possible. The hyperion excels at obliterating their power supply and the orion specialises in taking advantage of a depleted power supply and multiplying the number of disabled targets. Also another thing i noticed is that when taking over fortresses you can skip destroying a few guns if they're disabled via emp. Super niche but cool hidden feature.
This 4:43 and Jupiter ICBM Silos rack the shit out of my brains that after winning against them, i felt like i won the whole war. Love this game. Played it since 2017 until now.
I love these kinds of weapon micromanaging tower defence-esque games a lot, big reason why Steampunk Tower and Stormwinds are some of my favourite flashgames of all time. And I have to say, Redcon is like, the _perfect_ example of such a game. I love how complex the gameplay can get later on.
To be honest takeover is one of the best victories and I share the same thing with ya just with emps + takeover so give it a try, I'd love to somone else do emps and takeover as well

New worker for the game here. Heya thanks for reviewing the game, we are currently doing a new update for the game (currently making the storyboarding) the story I think was rewritten since what I got for the story is VERY different than what you got here, it's supposed to be divided by two major teams the west mainly speaking English and the east mainly speaking Russian aka the fuhrer's side. I don't know much that we are going to do but well I think the story is being rewritten because the main lead for the game left and we have a new lead.
This seems like just the alt redcon fanfic? I don't recall hexage saying a major story rewrite was going to be part of the update, and I'm also pretty sure they are working on Flying Tank right now?
Especially since if you cover the story of library of ruina (or any PM game that is) at all, you need to go over EVERY game, (maybe even the comics.) Atleast the first two games (limbus company isn't necessarily required to talk about for library of ruina, but it is important nonetheless.)
Lol been playing this game since 2017, the biggest let down for me is not being able to replay campaigns. Like what kind of game dosnts have levels or scenarios you can replay espically with such a game that you can customise your base and weapons every time you play. This game has a great potential to become a mobile games best like subways surface but they made all this impressive work then left the important common things every game has like replaying scenarios or sandbox mode . I worte to them this since 2018 in google play reviews but reply
I just saw a comment on another video about how the short film “Cannon fodder” inspired the game and I honestly see it also in 2:56 there is a scene from the film
If you use this game on chrome book you cannot drag and drop, and are therefore stuck with an empty fortress because when you buy stuff you cannot drag and drop it. No attempt has been made to remedy this issue.
best part of the game is when you learn simply trolling enemy defences having fully charge shield? shoot one small projectile and well timed omega shot behind it to perfectlx pass enemy shield, works with flaks too

Well this seems to be a clone of another game. Can't remember the name but it looked much the same except you built rickety towers out of wood and steel beams.
@@GoldMinerMac I believe that's the one. Gameplay looks really similar. What are the main differences in your opinion? I have to admit I didn't get all that far into Forts due to being terrible at it. Taking another look, I suppose ammo being a factor is different. And I don't see any frantic building of wobbly structures in this, which is definitely an upside.
Hmm. So you build the actual fortress in this before the match starts? And in Forts it's built in real time during the match. Certainly better to NOT be doing that.
@DGneoseeker1 I think the main difference is building. You never build anything in Redcon you just choose a loadout. In forts you can control the shape of your fort by building it while you fight, and you can add new modules and weapons as you go instead of it all being set. You also have to worry about physics in forts lol.
When the furher backstabbed me I thought, "Oh no, it's not like I saw this coming since 5 levels in."
what do you mean BACKSTAB, he merely gave us new orders, The War Never Ends!
Not like the player cares, Victor is addicted to war and victories. The cycle might end with him killing everyone as a rebel.
