The problem with mine is I’ve tried everything I could come across online to fix my Bluetooth, but the option to turn the Bluetooth Off or On is greyed out & does not detect unpaired devices that are within range. It’s simply greyed out & will not allow me to interact with it whatsoever…Its so extremely complicated & frustrating because most of the videos I’m coming across are not addressing that specific problem… Here at 1:42 my screen looks like that, but underneath the Bluetooth icon the option to turn Bluetooth: Off….Is greyed out, & it is also like that from the task bar to turn Bluetooth on…Just completely unable to be interacted with.
Nothing worked for my macbook 2012 Catalina but now i tried the ctrl + option + right shift, option and seems to be working hope it doesn't stop again.
hey, my bluetooth button is greyed out and stuck on "on" I can't turn it off and it does not connect to any existing/new devices. yk how to fix this issue?
How do I any of the resets apart from the terminal one, if I have only a BT keyboard? Besides - I lack the necessary finger span to reach all the keys plus the start button on the back of the iMac, be it SMC or PRAM (hence the shortcut, now NVRAM) reset. 🧐🤷♂ I remember those hacks from times when Macs had still a start button on the keyboard. On my MBP - no problem. But for my iMac there are no keyboards with cable anymore, at least not made by Apple. I just had a total failure of BT after deep sleep, when my iMac wouldn't turn on again. After pressing the start button it woke up and one after another I was shown: keyboard was disconnected - mouse was disconnected - touchpad was disconnected. And they didn't want to reconnect. Wow! I made hard reset - long press of the start button. At least the terminal hack works - they reconnect quickly and then - for a while everything seems to work fine!
JAN 19 after the 12.6.2 I lost my EarPods connection. I did the reboot of the bluetooth as suggested and reboot the iMac. I'm back BUT!! If you use a bluetooth mouse and disconnect the blue tooth you're going to need a alt way of controlling. I happen to have a wired mouse on hand. Thanks for the tips
Hey body Thank You Very mush, I install Sonoma on my iMac and had a hard time to get my bluetooth to work into I see your video and save me. Good Job!!!
Step two worked for me!!! Yus! I removed all bluetooth conections then rebooted and it finally played. Prior it would connect but no sound, as would keep using the laptop speaker.
Thanks for the tips! 🤘🤘🤘What worked for me, I had to also power cycle the stereo I was trying to connect to. I guess it had something cached that prevented my Mac to connect to it.
I did the terminal thing and it didn’t seem to work. Shit down my computer and turned it on again, forgot to hold down the keys but now it’s working again.. I did restart it twice before terminal and it didn’t help but the shut down did
Hold option + shift on your keyboard and click the Bluetooth icon again. This time, choose “Remove all devices” > click OK. Do option + shift on Bluetooth in the menu bar again > click “Reset the Bluetooth module” Re-pair your Bluetooth device(s)
I'm about to hoist my 10 month old Macbook Air, at great velocity, through the window and onto the junk heap. I've had this malarkey . . . up to here. Geez! It's 2024 and I can't connect to a couple of (non Apple) bluetooth speakers so as to listen to some TH-cam music videos. Utter crap!
the fact that is even a problem on my brand new 2023 macbook pro, is insane.
its planned and intentional . Mac hates Microsoft
Even now I have a brand new Mac and still doesn't connect I'll cry 😭
after 7 years and apple not giving me this solotion , just tried this and worked! you are a legend thank you!
Disconnected my Bose headphones from Bluetooth Preferences then searched and reconnected. Worked! Thank you.
thank you so much dude, I've been searching on how to fix it and i din't think of simply shutting my mac down, thanks again!
Thank you so much! Reset the NVRAM worked for me!

My problem was my speaker not appearing under sound output devices but one of these steps managed to fix it! Thanks. 🎉
Thank you for bringing up sound output devices. I had to go into that and change it, and it worked.
Thank you so much. The terminal option worked.
Happy to help!

yk how to fix this issue?
There’s a chance your sound is connected to the Mac book pro speakers not the Bluetooth speakers so double check which output you have ❤
You solved my issue perfectly, that's why it's always good to read the comments, thank you
How?
Bingo !
thank you u saved me😂
This was the one. Your comment was the thing that did it, and not the video itself. You, my friend, are lovely. Thank you
Thank you for using Terminal to fix my Mac Bluetooth problem.
Non of this works on a brand new Air M2 with the latest OS....blutooth suck big time!

So frustrating. In addition to these things, if the device shows on, but no sound comes out, try the "sound" button in the system settings.
