🔥🔥🥳this is such a great new feature!!!! ❤️ Hopefully one day SketchUP will add folders for Scenes as well🤞 to separate them room, animation, render, layout🤞🤞
One extra fonction is the coulour by tag (arrow in the tag window >colour by tag). This gives the posibility to add extra information to the model. your model has pieces with materials. When you hit the colour by tag fonction they turn into the colour they are taged. Rather then making groups you can link the pieces to different tags have their differences highlighted by the colour by tag function. Ex.: Walls all link to tags (W1,W2,W3 etc) that are under "wall" tag folder. They appear normaly with materials, now they appear by wall number. You can also set the line type by tag, this always appear, handy for making fake and soacewise limited construction lines...
They also need to have something like "hide other" option. Like in audio editors software, you always can pick "mute this track" and "solo this track".
Totally. A solo function that automatically brings up just one tag that can bring right back to the last set of tags that were on when it's unsoloed would be the next level of greatness for this tool.
@@toma-88 I'm sure they'll add it. After the somewhat tepid release of SU20, they made regular updates within the year that were awesome, and 21 feels like a REAL update. I'm very excited for what feels like a fire under SU dev team feet. They're doing great stuff and listening.
Thanks a lot Aron from Holland. This is a cool function, and a cool new logo ;-). Can you make one video about a Outliner vs Tags battle. When to use outliner with hidden objects, and when to use tags (I'd love to be able to assign multiple tags in te future :-)) and how to combine the two properly. All the best wishes from here!
Thanks! Love this feature. How about doing the same thing for MATERIALS IN MODEL? If I insert a car or tree into my model do I really need to see all those "extra" materials on the main list?
Excellent! Much easier to manipulate in and out of different views! Agreeing with Ola below - we need this type of tool for scenes in complicated & detailed models.
Hi I wonder if you could make a video taking the spice rack to Layout showing the individual parts in separate view ports. That is a fabrication drawing of sides lids, jars, holder with holes etc. with dimensions added. I have trouble setting up SU to show one of multiple copies of a component (for example spice jar lid) for detailing dimension in LO
I've been wanting this function for a while. It will help a lot when I'm designing my screen porches and decks. Does turning off tags improve or lessen the size while working? On one hand, I like to draw every component of what I'm designing so later I can break it out in Layout for plans or details. I've also been looking at some extensions that do takeoffs. So rather than just draw a face that would be a wall, I draw all the studs, etc. But it makes the model larger. Being able to create a tag for every item then group them without "grouping" is going to be awesome! frustrating to have to keep drilling down to get to an item or go find it in outliner.
While it's not a bad idea, it really needs some tweaking. The hidden tag text needs to be darker - it's barely visible. When you resize a column, the default is restored when you reopen SU. When I set something, it should stay set until I change it.
So if I have a bunch of tags, it will not let me nest them (Sketchup 2021). So I created a folder. It would not let me move tags into the folder. I just get the international NO symbol. Then I created a tag folder within my new folder and tried to move it in and it worked. So I tried to move it out and it won't let me. Is there some sort of preference that I have to set. It does not work as you are showing.
Thanks, Aaron, I really like the videos. I would love to see how to make a full set of architectural drawings for Consent in Sketchup and mostly Layout . From organising in Sketchup to Annotation in Layout. Siteplan, elevations, details etc. How many different Sketchup drawings to use ( like model- details - site, that what I do ) , How to organise in Folders and set up a generic template for Sketchup and Layout for general house building. What extensions are helpful. So a full series from scratch to consent-able Drawings. Easy? - then get on with it.
I find that when I import a model that has tags, they end up at the top level. I would expect them to be sub-tags under the model name. Am I doing something wrong or ...
Hi! I would like to leave a suggestion, a tag filling function could be added instead of having automatic filling. I miss this function mainly when I want to highlight the structure and differentiate it by colors, it would speed up the process done manually in the layout.
So I’ve been doing this similarly and manually for a while with cabinets. Each cabinet is a component and then inside there there are other components like doors and cases. I think I will like this better. I’ll like being able to easily add sub tags. Now let’s find something similar for scenes!
Would be nice to have layers And tags. So I could layer everything in an architectural model to the floor it's situated on, whilst tagging it to the a proper category (e.g. doors, windows, etc). That way I would need a lot less nesting.
So helpful. Didn’t know how folders worked before. Thanks.

@@jtays1234321 yah. waiting for this ridiculously simple feature in SketchUp 2022

Love that idea!!
When could there be an update to the Android Sketchup viewer app with Tag Folders?

Finally!!!! This is huge. Thanks for adding this functionality.
Great video, I learned a couple new tricks. I was wondering if you could explain the the colors to the right of the tags and how they work. Thanks!
Great addition well done and thanks for all the new improvements
How do I separate my imported cad dwg tags from the model tags?
How do these levels of tags export to other software that does not recognise multiple levels? or even more basically ... when I create a report in SU?
Wow ....you guys changed the logo it's sooo cool 🔥🔥🔥😭
Can tags be copied - if you have a dynamic component with a copy function? or do they get dropped?
Thanks for the video Aaron. This is a great new feature. Can't wait to try it!
