The moral of the story is to help the Newbies wherever possible, and also that [SIEGE] is coming for you, you cannot escape them, you cannot outrun them, you cannot hide from them, and when they catch you they will show no mercy. Tickle torture may or may not be included in the package.

See, I did my research before moving to the front. The moment I got in as a new Warden, I asked for anyone looking for a fresh recruit. Got grabbed by Logi, became a scrap pirana for an hour. Got left behind but had enough knowledge to look after myself as an independent Logi in Brodytown. Spent the rest of that first day (six hours) grabbing resources from every field, mine, publicly refining it, and kept the fuel flowing to the mines. I don't think anyone really knows what I did. But I don't care. Shit's got to get done and hauling scrap is easier than getting shot at.

      Trust me
Even though you dont get instant validation/recognition
You get unconscious one from players like me when i see several refineries flowing again, or mines being emptied from resources and filled with oil
Than i know there is some dude doing all of that
And if i see him in my logi runs
      I commend the dude, always

@@matthiasvanhecke1283 They get held to the highest standard right under Callahan but above Logi, below logi is medics and below that is arty and mortar teams, and then below that it’s Tank crews and then we reach the Infantry. I do those pro bono work too sometimes because that's what I encountered in my first war (war 79, a bleak time when all the Warden clans were burnt out and taking a break, so Collie was just doing mop-up. This was also before Wardens got more tanks that returned game balance).
Props to you and people like Seiko who keep the mines fueled, it's thankless but when yall are gone it's definitely missed.

Played for the first time yesterday after TH-cam recommended me so many foxhole vids for some reason.
I have some social anxiety which always keeps me from playing multiplayer games but i knew the moment i installed the game i wanted to be a logi. Seemed simple , didn't have to deal with too many people and I would be helping even if i didn't fire a gun.
First hour went well , went scrapping with a truck a player handed me since he was logging off. Did some rounds scrapping and refining , then i see a request for shirts and rpg rounds.
My time to shine , grab a radio and load my truck up with the supplies , check the map , it's a straight shot to the town hall , totally clear. Easy peasy.
Drive down there with some tunes playing , almost close to the town hall , my first delivery was going without a hitch , just need to make this tur-
Suddenly I am surrounded by the enemy team , Arty explosions going off around me and a rpg hits the side of the truck as i had driven my truck full of supplies straight to the enemy front lines. I hop out with only a hammer and make a run for it , luckily the enemy soldiers just spared my life as i had delivered them supplies like an idiot.
Turns out , i had a radio , never actually equipped it though . Ran back to my lines, actually equipped the radio and saw all the blue dots just swarming the road.
Was so embarrassed I logged off , 10/10 remember to actually have the radio equipped.

My first two hours in this game
-Unsuccesfully repair turret with sledge hammer.
-tried to board a moving truck by standing in front of it
    -quick respawn later.
-took an mg, loaded with mags.
-crawled towards the assumed active battle zone.
-sees a crap ton of foxholes and bunkers. Wtf no one ura charging? 0/10.
-sees crater in front of tanks with a corpse in it. Looks good.
    -tanks shelling and pulling back.
-awkwardly waddles towards crater. Somehow dint get shot but the previous laser accuracy of the wardens on a nearby trench.
-crouches down for 5 minutes. Well this was a mistake.
-checks stuff in hole (from the corpse??) Medical stuff and plasma.
-ignores stands up and sprays at warden position. Hits someone (not fatally)
-proceeds to do that for 15mins conserving ammo.
-friendly green guy comes along to share hole.
    Gets insta sniped.
-Sprays mg in vengeance. Wtf warden guy crawling up to my position.
-crawls out of hole to perforate him with lead. Mission successful.
-doesnt make it back into crater alive.
    -respawns.
-stocks up on similar mg and mags.
-awkwardly waddles back down the road towards the same eventual crater.

My first experience with this game was in the frontlines as a tank crew mate, it was great.
I hoped onto a tank with my random guy that I met 5 minutes after logging into the game and went into frontlines to give a support to our teammates.
We were guarding a bridge and fighting off enemy tanks and troops. It was too hot in there. Our chances to win were always low, 3v1 tanks, 4v1 tanks, but we managed to fight off for entire hour.
After that time we were doomed to failure, low on shells, tank was even heavly damaged. Luckly, at the last minute before enemy final push, friendly tanks arrived behind us. They covered us while we were getting some repairs and ammo restock. With all that help, we pushed the enemy even far back and regained some land.

Lots of vets complain about newbie's not doing what is needed to make a push successful. And while there are a lot among them that do fuck all no matter what you tell them. It can make a huge difference if you use region chat to give them directions, it will take a time or two before they actually start to listen. But you can win a push if you rally the juniors via region chat, without the need to execute one or two of them because of anger feelings
    .
Also, screaming at a newbie for building a trench in the wrong place is counterproductive, far too many times i see Capt's and Maj's screaming at a newbie and then shooting because the newbie is not listening to the toxic screaming. Just explain the newbies what they are doing wrong and why, everyone has to learn the game and home region only teaches the bare basics.
Share your experience with the new players and you will feel a lot less frustration when your line is being pushed back once again.

What that kind of screaming is doing is that players who are actually conscious about the effectiveness of the builds will stop building.
As it is a game and I believe still in early access what you would expect to work is totally not in sync with that will actually work. And even veterans can be wrong so that adds to it.
So this war I'm playing medic on Shard 1. Since the war had started I'm living on sickle hill and I'l watching the builders go at it.
But I already had a guy screaming that no one is building. Well of course not 'cus then you would scream that it's bad, lol.

oh man i joined on shard 2 during 80 before the wardens nuked the baths. luckily i joined right at peak player hours on the weekend, so there was a huge push back and forth across the deadlands' crater-filled salt flats, and it was an incredible first impression. had no idea what was going on, just had a great time charging across the no-man's land and taking cover in craters.
... and since then, it's mostly been wandering medium and low pop shards during the weekday and trying to hold destroyed bridges to keep the blueberries from repairing them and rolling their silverhands across using only rifles, and frags if we're lucky.

This is why I always ask newbies if they are enjoying the game
If they aren't, try to find ways to excite and motivate them
Best way to maintain a loyal community is to make them enjoy the experience
being kind and helpful is one of the best ways to do that

This was me somewhat, I was stuck in a defensive in The Spine in The Deadlands as my first battle. I ran along a railway track and shot a warden dead. Then I respawned and a vet taught me how to shoot and aim and I got promoted to PVT for being new. Then me and some people flanked the wardens, but we still lost. I then proceeded a bit later, to clear out a bunker base of about 5 or 6 wardens with an SMG, then I got promoted to LCPL for being new. All on my first day. I'm still stuck at the Sergeant rank for about 6 to 7 or maybe even 8 months now, lol.

I mean, in the second one, the amount of people I see using shovels to work AGAINST their own team boggles my mind.
When I was a newb i tried to learn from others BEFORE doing stuff. I didn’t hijack tanks thinking they grew on trees (game literally explains that they are all made by players). I didn’t start building randomly by myself (not a solo base building game).
Lots of people are the “helpful vets” if you ask (of course, don’t go in the middle of a group and start bombarding an obvious officer with questions).
1/2 of what should be normal common sense is enough really.
