    I'm really worried about the owner. She is sitting when everyone around her is standing. It makes me think she lost a lot of mobility because of her weight...
    This is a sweet idea and everyone deserves to feel beautiful and worthy, but I really hope she looks after her health... She doesn't deserve to die young because of it. Nobody does...

      Well...... Who's fault is it she can't stand? Stop ignoring the reason she can't stand. She can't stop eating! The whole culture that people aren't responsible for their own actions is sickening. Weakest generation in the history of the United States. Every one gets a trophy so no one loses. Well this chick lost the lottery by her own actions. No sympathy from me.

The truth being I've seen the changes in generations. If this generation was in WWII we'd all be speaking German

    I'm here for the concept, it's refreshing to see all these women happy and all dolled up.
    However, I think there's a very fine line between accepting and loving yourself and straight up being in denial. You're hurting yourself I mean you can't even move from your chair for crying out loud!!! Your weight is alarming at this point

      But what's she in denial about exactly? She knows shes a big woman and she wants to feel beautiful and comfortable in her own skin and she obviously wants to make other women like her, feel that way too. These women obviously know they're big, but they're still people and they're still beautiful. I feel like fat women can't say or do anything because people always have to remind then that they're fat and 'unhealthy' and honestly it's stupid. I'm glad that these women have a place like this to love each other and be beautiful.

      Read my comment again because YOU OBVIOUSLY didn't get the point and you're twisting my words into something they're not. I talked specifically about the owner of the salon, NOT ALL WOMEN WHO GO TO THAT SALON because in case you didn't see it, her weight is sort of a disability to her. Who said she's not beautiful? How do you make a positive comment into something negative? I genuinely felt bad for her it wasn't hate nor fatshaming and the idea is AMAZING I wish more people would do that in the future. Have a good day!

    As a personal trainer that's worked with special populations for 20 years, I've seen the devastation that comes from years of being obese. I actually love that these women have a place to go to feel beautiful and pampered because every woman deserves that. However, if they continue to live this way the consequences will be devastating and the damage done irreversible.

Now i am not dogging her, i am very very overweight too, and i am getting to the point of not being able to stand for long periods of time either. I get the whole big and beautiful thing, but when you get tot he point of not being able to stand to even like shower, something has to be done. I will not turn 50 and be in a wheel chair. I cannot. I do love this concept, but they should also think about maybe serving healthier foods and not cupcakes, or low carb/sugar cupcakes. I dont know. I am not a hater, although i hate how large i am. As a person who has battle with weight, I get and understand the concept of the salon. It's a great feeling and should be a natural feeling to be accepted anywhere you go. Especially when it comes to a place where you want to feel and look beautiful. Unfortunately that's not always the situation, so I get it and love this salon just for that reason in itself. I just hope and pray that it is also in these beautiful women interests to want to be healthy. I'm not saying lose a lot of weight but at the same time if your weight is taking away from normal everyday abilities, it's time time to rethink some things. Because now it's about life or death. And as someone who has battled with it, it not a great life to live with being over weight. And I'm just speaking from the physical aspect. Tiredness, in pain from standing at work. I'm glad I lose the weight.

      Im so hot i was born in a microwave I agree with you to a point but why can't you and others show compassion? You don't have any idea why these woman are obese or what led them to that place. You don't see what's going on behind their smiles or what secret battles they are fighting. According to the NIH 1 in 3 adults are obese! You're absolutely right, being obese isn't healthy and it seems silly to deny it. But at the same time If loosing weight was as easy as some people make it seem we wouldn't have the obesity epidemic we do. I didn't gain weight until my 40's and let me tell you it rocked my world! I'd always been able to EASILY loose a quick 10 pounds here and there when needed until I got sick and my world really did collapse. Eventually I became bedridden and am now too weak to exercise or even cook healthy meals the way I used to. I feel like my body has been hijacked and I've gained over 100lbs in just 5 years! I NEVER thought this could happen to me because I falsely believed I would always be able to control my health. I'm humiliated and ashamed to be seen in public, even if I could socialize I wouldn't. I used to take such pride in my appearance but I don't recognize myself. Looking in the mirror makes me literally dizzy because it's so surreal to see a stranger staring back. I do my best to eat as healthy as I can but I don't always have a choice and even if I lived on broccoli & water it would be nearly impossible for me to loose weight. I don't know if this is my new normal because only time will tell if I recover. But In the meantime I hope I and every other woman (for whatever reason they gained their weight---It doesn't matter!) will be shown compassion. And if you can't do that than at the very least please don't put down an entire group of people and assume you know anything at all about their life, health or body. And remember skinny girls, just because we can't SEE your issues doesn't mean you don't have them. Plenty of skinny people are unhealthy! I am in awe at the confidence these woman show and I was bawling my eyes out after the lady getting her 1st mani/pedi shared her story. They are an inspiration and I'm so thankful there is a place woman like me can go and not be judged. If you've never struggled with your weight you'd never get it, but just to be in a room where everyone looks like you would feel amazing! How could making these woman feel beautiful be anything but.....well beautiful! People need to stop assuming they know ANYTHING about someone else's life. Kindness is always a better option!

And besides, half of these women could be working on thier weight, you never know. It could also be a health issue or something. But, we know that she's made a salon that's for plus size women to feel great about themselves, and that's what really matters.

    • @Janysadraws

      She can barely stand, I highly doubt she is . She made the salon because she is proud of her weight, which isn't the problem . And I never said I wasn't proud of her . I think it's great that she opened a salon for plus sized women, but that's not what matters. What matters is if she one day is alone in her home and dies from a heart attack. I'm not wishing that on her, but that can very possibly happen. Everyone can stand, and move around fine, but once you are unable to walk, and are losing break just sitting, that is very scary. I pray that she will be okay, she is very kind and amazing, and I'm not trying to shade her, I just don't want anything bad to happen to her. and everyone else seems to have the same thought.

    • @carleethe1st
      @carleethe1st 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I certainly agree with you about loving yourself and I wouldn't wish for anyone to be uncomfortable in their own skin. I also agree that societal beauty standards can rip at at a person's self esteem (I'm actually a psych major, so I've studied it.)
      I think I look at this issue differently than most because I have extreme circumstances concerning my own body. I'm sick. I have an incurable autoimmune disease that has completely upturned my life. It's genetic and I developed it when I was 8. The biggest issue is that is causes severe chronic pain. Due to my condition, I'm very in tune with my body. I noticed that if I gained weight my pain tended to go up and I noticed if I lost weight my pain tended to go down. Because I got sick, I HAD to pay attention to things like my weight and nutrition. Everything is your choice. I'm happy if you're happy, but please don't short-change yourself either. It sounds silly, but I miss being able to run. I miss being able to feel that pain in my chest and brushing of the wind on my face. As someone who is unable to enjoy many of the pleasures of life, I hope that you do what I can't.
      The truth is that being overweight is unhealthy. Right now it sounds like you're doing really well health-wise (and I hope it stays that way!) but take it from someone whose body fails her on a daily basis: once your health turns on you, it really changes the game.
      Best of luck.

    There's a difference between being plus size and happy with your looks and being morbidly obese and slowly killing yourself. This woman clearly has good intentions, but feeding these women cupcakes and sugary drinks and telling them that they're fine the way they are isn't going to help them, it just enables them to carry on making bad life choices.

    "I was humiliated in a salon"
    She makes it sound like someone did something to her when in fact she was SO fat that she broke a hydraulic salon chair.
    You shouldn't be fat enough to break a stainless steel chair. That's not being discriminated against. That is not unfair & to be quite frank, it is a sad reality I am seeing in America. I am happy they have somewhere they can go to feel good but don't point fingers at other salons being 'Toxic' and 'Close minded' facilities when you couldn't fit through a standard doorway or they turn you away because the sheer weight of your body will destroy their property.

They wake up, and the first thing they see is their fat, and how they wish it wasn't there. The more they think about that, the more they eat to cope. Plus, its not like they go there every single day for the "treats" they go there to look beautiful, to see themselves in a way that they rarely can. Plus size is a nicer way of saying obese, because we don't want them to feel worse for themselves. That rarely ever helps anything. Normal sized people have somewhere to go to make them look nice, why can't obese people?

    So instead of using what was clearly an embarrassing event to re-evaluate her life and change it for the better by eating healthy and exercising, this women decided to open a salon with reinforced chairs and have cupcakes available for her customers to eat.This just shows everything that is wrong with the world today, it's always someone else's fault no one takes personal responsibility for themselves.

    This is what people do in denial.
    They form groups and isolate themselves from everyone unlike them (i.e. healthy), so that they can "empower" eachother; Empower eachother to carry on their self-harm.
    Instead, they need to go out into the world and stop hiding; It would be positive inspiration rather than the negative inspiration they're settling for.
    P.S. Even if she were a size 2 and had fallen out of a broken chair, everyone still would have looked... You fell out of a chair.

That's the type of "help" only another morbidly obese person in complete denial whose eating to keep from facing whatever is actually wrong would offer. I understand the "everyone should be accepted" concept & I agree with it but she's nothing more than an enabler. If I was obese and I walked into this salon it wouldn't comfort me. If anything, it would make me realize how much of an addiction food is for alot of ppl & that I need help.I'd run out of there & go straight to get help with my health and nutrition. The owner Jamie Lopez is worse off then her clients, a candidate for My 600lbs Life. If I were to open a beauty salon, I can make only so many accommodations before saying that its going over my budget to get custom made seats which I have to pay extra for, instead of getting the affordable standard seats. Instead of glorifying obesity these women should focus on losing weight. I love it. The owner is so beautiful and has such a big heart. There are so many of us that are not size 0's. Those women now have a place to go that they can feel like ladies and add to their beauty. You ladies really have it going on. Plus-sized is a lot of women in my family. I would like for the owner to get her health checked out because she needs to be around to inspire the rest of us who do not feel like we are beautiful because of our weight.

    • @bennieboi7114
      @bennieboi7114 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s because it’s impossible to be beautiful at 500 pounds. Period. Someone should have shown her tough love and told her the truth. She was dying. Maybe she would still be here. People mostly females jus afraid to hurt someone’s feelings are half the problem. Y’all would LITERALLY let someone off themselves over hurting their feelings. Shameful.

      Snaziko losing weight from a high weight isn’t easy. You can’t just say “I’m gonna lose weight” it’s hard. Most women have trouble doing what it takes to be skinnier

      that would be ideal for literally everyone, but a lot of people can’t get healthy. Some have chronic illnesses and things and it’s really really hard for them to not only lose weight but be healthy in general. it’s really not anyone’s place to comment on someone else’s health without knowing their story.

      Topaz Rose man I don’t even know cause I’ve never been big and never made a chair break I’m just saying u making it seem like all those things being talked about a lot is abnormal but in America that’s our mentality and how we lived America has literally being built on judging others and always pulling certain people down for no reason
