It probably a mirror illusion the mirror reflect only the back maybe the mirror wouldn't show when he walked in front it was tilted. The ducks is hiding behind a mirrors and the mirrors is separated that's why a cloth can go between it looks like nothing's behind it. I'm guessing what it is.
Maybe a flat box the ducks are hiding because the lid on the black box is opened it covers with another lid it couldn't see the ducks? There is something about the table stand and the black box we don't see.
