    You can hit this from bottom half when you are swimming for the under hook. Your opponent will pummel and then you can lock this in. Love it.

    Learned this shoulder pin a few years ago and it made my guard dramatically more dangerous. Started with a sit up sweep and now i got yet another option... appreciate it...

    Hey Neil . I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you . I cannot begin to tell you how valuable all the information that you have been relating has been to me . I have been very fortunate to find your videos on TH-cam and have been studying them and sharing the information with my students . It helps that you and I are built the same so everything that you do works perfectly into my game .

    Quick tip that helped me, getting the ovehook then posting with the other hand on the collar bone or shoulder really helps with creating the space you need for your hips and legs. Especially if you get a reverse kimura grip like Neil does here

      Yes but no. Williams guard is the shoulder pin but the Neil know is the finish or choke in this video

    • @zerosum789
      @zerosum789 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Shoulder crunch with the leg reinforcement is williams guard. The choke is the Neil knot.

  • @BooLee01
    @BooLee01 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can you please explain the squeeze? I got in that position in my class and had a good triangle shape around my partner's neck, but I could not squeeze tight enough to make a choke. I tried pushing and pulling in every direction, but I just could not make it work.

  • @guam58
    @guam58 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am getting good at getting the Neil knot, but can only finish with triangles. I just can't seem to finish the initial choke. My arm is not long enough to grab my forearm of the arm grabbing the leg. Are their details that can help me close up the initial choke? This position is awesome as a pitstop and great way to set up triangle easily. Thanks for the awesome teachings.

    Neil, be careful mate, people stealing techniques from your videos and naming them after themselves. Hahaha.

  • @rationalthinker9612
    @rationalthinker9612 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a question, at the 3:40 part of the video where you are sitting on his legs and your right arm is basing and your left hand is grabbing his left wrist, what is stopping him from just yanking his left arm out of your grip? Is that typically a strong position for a grip or is the whole sequence of moves so fast that he doesn't have time to respond? Or is there a follow counter move if he break his wrist out of that grip? It seems like when he forces you back to the mat that you let go of that grip as part of the next move, what would you suggest if he doesn't force you back to the mat and breaks the grip without going to the mat..
    Sorry for the thousand questions, I was just curious just in case it happens to me....thanks for the awesome videos...OSS!!

    I’ve been trying to work this but that bottom leg just gets pinned an they pass an then the shoulder pin doesn’t feel strong. Could you go over that in a video?

  • @terickson26
    @terickson26 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is awesome. If Ricky Lindell and you say it's a good grip it must be. Ricky is a beast.
    I use your K control guard all the time and it works really well. I've had a few people posture up really tall and push the foot that's on their hip down off their hip (the foot of the knee shield leg) if that makes sense. I was curious if you had a solution to that?

    • @thos1618
      @thos1618 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've tried K Control a few times. I liked the idea of the position but couldn't make it work.
      Do you push with the shin and try to pull-out the leg, or more hang-back and work the head-control?

  • @petermelb123
    @petermelb123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the video but I tried the technique and I didn't have the strength to put the shoulder crank hold on heavier rolling opponents they just stack me 🤔anybody else feeling me?

      It's the finish. Same guard can be found under "Lister Grip". Guard is the same but I think he's referring to the finish as a knot. That's why he's calling the guard shoulder pin guard and not Neil guard I think.

    • @thos1618
      @thos1618 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Shoulder Pin Guard, Leg-Hook Guard, 'Russian' Guard, London Guard, Lister Grip Guard, Shawn Williams Guard; all the same position.

      Not sure who came up with it, but I learned Neil's version first so the Shawn Williams guard to me is just Neil's 0 degree shoulder pin.
