How fondly I remember listening to Pastor Oliver Greene when I first got saved! I listened to him on the radio back in 1979 and was much blessed and had spiritual growth! To God be the glory!!!
I've loved Oliver Greene ever since hearing him on radio in my youth. My uncle used to listen to him on the radio back in the day. Dr. Greene actually died about a year and a half after this sermon at age 61.
We need this kind of preaching to day the Truth Of The Gospel the WORD Of God the fear of the LORD not a feel good message" I have been listening to Bro. Green since the late 80's on my way to work early mornings 99.9 Elkton Md " my mom had a lot of his books in the 70's I realize later he had went on to glory'. Great man of God.
Preacher Greens powerful preaching is what this sad, miserable generation of false leaders that mock God with their insanity of on all fours roaring like lions, howling like dogs, going cockadoodledoo, and slithering like snakes and preaching a false so-called born again Jesus, and all that other swill from the hogpens of hell, and all that send me a thousand dollars junk. Preacher Green would decry these false leaders of today with a battle cry and turn many to righteousness.
We very rarely hear this sermon topic anymore. Preachers are concerned about hurting somebody's feelings. This was mentioned in our Sunday School class back in March. My dad said you don't hear much about the blood, and a fellow Sunday School member said "You don't hear much on hell, either." By the way, this is why I fully reject Calvinism because they teach that God has already predestined people to go to hell. God doesn't send anyone there, they send themselves there. I love his compassion for the lost. I also love his refutation of Calvinism because it's a false teaching. Hearing this makes me glad that I am saved.

First of all, get away from ALL non-KJV versions of the Bible, if you happen to use one or read from one. They are translated from corrupted texts, and many false interpretations are made. The Bible actually never mentions that unbelievers are destroyed in the Lake of Fire. The true Word of God shows that the immortal soul that God created cannot be destroyed, except God do it. Now, the verse you might be referring to is in Matthew, but there are some key points to notice. Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. However, this just shows the power of GOD in that he is ABLE to destroy both body AND soul in hell. Also, Hell is NOT the Lake of Fire. Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Those cast in the Lake of Fire will be tormented FOREVER. We that are born again shall LIVE forever. Those that reject God, the deny him, and refuse the FREE gift of salvation will DIE forever. Their soul will never be destroyed, because the soul is eternal. However, it's either eternal life or eternal death for those that are either saved or lost, respectively. Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. You need to listen again. He did not preach false calvin doctrine. Rather how God does not want any to perish. Salvation is available for whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord.
SO ACCORDING TO THIS GUY GOD IS NOT Sovereign at all he did make hell until Lucifer fell, so God reacted to Lucifer , hence God is not sovereign at all according to this guy .
Don't be ignorant. He's not saying that at all. God does what God does in HIS OWN TIME. God's Word specifically states that hell was created for the DEVIL and HIS ANGELS. Before Lucifer fell, Hell was not needed. You're treating GOD as one who exists and operates within TIME. God is omnipresent, existing outside of time. Your perception is from a human standpoint. A fine example is this: The Bible states that Jesus was slain before the foundation of the world. That doesn't mean that due to this that Jesus didn't have to come to die on the cross. It means that Jesus didn't come to die UNTIL THE APPOINTED TIME. When that time came, Jesus was born, lived, and died...in DUE TIME. The same applies to the creation of Hell. God wasn't surprised by Lucifer's betrayal. God always knew that Lucifer would rebel. So, even though hell wasn't created initially (by man's standard, which is TIME), it was created at the APPOINTED TIME. If you don't like the message, then just dislike and move on. During the end of this message he says if you put a mic down in hell, the whole city would be saved by hearing the yelling and screaming . That totally goes against the scripture, when Jesus said, that if even one was to rise it from the dad that the people would not believe, (Jesus was talking about the rich man in the parable) . That then would be speculation and adding to God's Word. However, that's not what is being done here. You are right in that cults are created by ignorant men. They have selfish interests, with no regard for Godly things. A form of godliness but denying the power thereof. Regarding the mic into hell. Bro. Greene is not stating that the hearing of hell would save people, but that the hearing of the suffering in conjunction with the Gospel of Christ could very well lead to the salvation of many...if God used such an act to open their eyes. He may not say that EXACTLY, but if you take the statement WITH THE REST OF THE PREACHED MESSAGE, then one would understand this. The BIBLE tells us that to be born again the unsaved must have faith. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Hell is taught in the Word of God. Bro. Greene even uses the scripture from Mark Chapter 9, a message the JESUS HIMSELF preached. Jesus USED the description of hell to warn people ABOUT hell. It must have SOME importance in getting the TRUTH to people or else Jesus would never have preached it. Brother Greene even quotes the scripture you referred to in Luke 16 regarding the rich man that had five brothers, wanting Abraham to send a dead man back to warn them. So, Brother Greene isn't stating that the mic alone would save people. To believe that is just ignorance. He's trying to point out the IMPORTANCE of BELIEVING IN HELL. I know he says that every sinner in Greenville would get saved, but I believe he's trying to enforce the importance of believing in hell, especially the lost. It's equally important for GOD'S people to truly believe so that the true message of hell can be presented in conjunction with faith, grace, and repentance. For if the lost don't get saved, then Hell is the place to which they'll go. Being afraid of hell isn't what saves people, but it sure shows them what they'll be saved FROM. I believe that you're focusing on the WRONG part(s) of this message, and in essence the preacher's words are being twisted out of context in order to support your argument. I don't think that it's intentional, but the end result is still confusion. Also, keep in mind that the story of the rich man and Lazarus isn't a parable. It's a true story with specific people and locations. Parables are stories that are relatable to anyone/everyone in that they are very general with little to no specifics. Jesus told his disciples that there was definitely a "rich man" and a man named "Lazarus". There is also mention of Father Abraham. It's very important to realize that this story was true and NOT a parable so that hell could never be mistaken as part of a "made-up" story/fairy tale (as the world would see it). Your statement that the Gospel was NEVER preached in this message is clearly wrong. At 19:48 into the message he states CLEARLY that hell is down and that Jesus descended into the heart of the earth (death/burial) and led the captivity captive and ascended to heaven (resurrection). Read Ephesians 4, where it clearly states this. So, yes, Brother Greene preached the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ...this IS THE GOSPEL. He also mentions the Gospel at 27:36, 28:22. It seems to me that for some reason you have a personal problem with Brother Greene or this type of preaching. Whatever it is, please pray about it and ask for the LORD's guidance. However, I ask that you do not come back and start arguing useless points trying to tear down this message. This message about Hell is sound, it's true, and it's needed today in this age of Godlessness and unbelief. If you don't like this message or style of preaching, then don't listen to it. You are right in that cults are created by ignorant men. They have selfish interests, with no regard for Godly things. A form of godliness but denying the power thereof.
Regarding the mic into hell. Bro. Greene is not stating that the hearing of hell would save people, but that the hearing of the suffering in conjunction with the Gospel of Christ could very well lead to the salvation of many...if God used such an act to open their eyes. He may not say that EXACTLY, but if you take the statement WITH THE REST OF THE PREACHED MESSAGE, then one would understand this. The BIBLE tells us that to be born again the unsaved must have faith. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Hell is taught in the Word of God. Bro. Greene even uses the scripture from Mark Chapter 9, a message the JESUS HIMSELF preached. Jesus USED the description of hell to warn people ABOUT hell. It must have SOME importance in getting the TRUTH to people or else Jesus would never have preached it. Brother Greene even quotes the scripture you referred to in Luke 16 regarding the rich man that had five brothers, wanting Abraham to send a dead man back to warn them. So, Brother Greene isn't stating that the mic alone would save people. To believe that is just ignorance. He's trying to point out the IMPORTANCE of BELIEVING IN HELL. I know he says that every sinner in Greenville would get saved, but I believe he's trying to enforce the importance of believing in hell, especially the lost. It's equally important for GOD'S people to truly believe so that the true message of hell can be presented in conjunction with faith, grace, and repentance. For if the lost don't get saved, then Hell is the place to which they'll go. Being afraid of hell isn't what saves people, but it sure shows them what they'll be saved FROM. I believe that you're focusing on the WRONG part(s) of this message, and in essence the preacher's words are being twisted out of context in order to support your argument. I don't think that it's intentional, but the end result is still confusion.
Also, keep in mind that the story of the rich man and Lazarus isn't a parable. It's a true story with specific people and locations. Parables are stories that are relatable to anyone/everyone in that they are very general with little to no specifics. Jesus told his disciples that there was definitely a "rich man" and a man named "Lazarus". There is also mention of Father Abraham. It's very important to realize that this story was true and NOT a parable so that hell could never be mistaken as part of a "made-up" story/fairy tale (as the world would see it).
Your statement that the Gospel was NEVER preached in this message is clearly wrong. At 19:48 into the message he states CLEARLY that hell is down and that Jesus descended into the heart of the earth (death/burial) and led the captivity captive and ascended to heaven (resurrection). Read Ephesians 4, where it clearly states this. So, yes, Brother Greene preached the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ...this IS THE GOSPEL. He also mentions the Gospel at 27:36, 28:22.
It seems to me that for some reason you have a personal problem with Brother Greene or this type of preaching. Whatever it is, please pray about it and ask for the LORD's guidance.
However, I ask that you do not come back and start arguing useless points trying to tear down this message. This message about Hell is sound, it's true, and it's needed today in this age of Godlessness and unbelief. If you don't like this message or style of preaching, then don't listen to it. However, I've tried to show that you were incorrect in your assumptions that this was somehow non-Scriptural. Therefore, it stands true.

You have to keep in mind that his radio show was limited by time constraints and they were more like mini-messages that cover just a few points per message. Church/revival meetings are usually quite different.

Not all. It sounds like you have had some personal experience, though, and like many try to generalize the masses. Many enjoy the intense preaching that some have been called to do, while others enjoy the more soft-spoken messengers like Brother James Crumpton. As long as the Word of God is preached in accordance with the fruits of the Spirit then it's all good.
