From BANGKOK To The BEACH (Koh Chang) feat. the most disappointing waterfall

- In this video we’re leaving Bangkok and heading to some of Thailand’s best beaches! The island we’re going to is called Koh Chang, which is located in the south-east of Thailand. Koh Chang isn’t on many people’s radar when it comes to the best beach destinations in Thailand, despite being Thailand's third biggest island. We quickly fell in love with the island and its relaxed vibe!
To get to Koh Chang we took a bus to Trat and from there we took a ferry to the island. It didn’t all go as planned, but we made it in the end and had some great Pad Thai in between! Once on Koh Chang, we took some time to relax at the beach, explore the island via scooter, visited some waterfalls (which were slightly disappointing as it’s currently dry season) and went snorkelling around the island’s reefs.

We'll be spending a few weeks in Thailand, before continuing to our next country in Asia, which will probably be Sri Lanka. And then? We'll see!

Some background information on our trip to Thailand (travel in 2022):
Travel isn't very straightforward right now and there are quite a few challenges to overcome and entry requirements to fulfil, so you should always do your own research and check the current situation and regulations before you go.We're visiting Thailand with the "Test & Go" program, which was put on hold, but is being resumed again in February 2022. Check the official websites regularly to stay up to date!
With the Test & Go program we needed a negative PCR test to enter the country and we also needed to apply for a "Thailand Pass". To apply for the Thailand Pass we needed to book a Test & Go package with a certified hotel. This package includes a one night stay, a PCR test on arrival, transportation to the hotel and three meals for our stay. After receiving the results of this PCR test, we were free to travel around the country (as long as the regulations in the region allow this). 5-6 days after arrival we'll also need to take another PCR test (free of charge) and upload the result to the official Thai tracking app. IMPORTANT: For the "new" Test & Go program that's starting in February 2022 it might be necessary to book a stay in another certified hotel for the second PCR test - always check the current regulations online!

A night in Trat can be interesting, many good guesthouses and restaurants as long as you're not rushed and know where to go . I choose to always stay a night or two on the way to Koh Chang or Cambodia.
Yes, we didn't know before, but from our short stay in Trat we also feel that we could've stayed for longer!

most Waterfall are beautiful in wet season which are June - August.
Yes, we were prepared for that, so we weren't that disappointed really 😁 We were in Thailand during wet season last time and we saw some really nice waterfalls! 🙂
usually if you want to enjoy waterfall late august to late september is the right time cos its at the peak of rrainy season for most part of in thailand. If you wat to see lush green and waterfall in November to February, I would recommend you visit southern thailand.

Recommend you both to go to the Beach and Island of the Southern of Thailand ! I think it is more beautiful than the east :-)
Yes, we also really like the south! 😃 We've seen beautiful beaches in both parts though, so we couldn't decide where the beaches are nicer. It's best to try them all! 😁

I think you bought a wrong type of ticket to Trad. It was a second class bus not VIP class nor even the first class, that's why it stopped every city on the map. Thailand have three class of ticket type. Second class or Por Song, First class or Por Nueng and VIP class. FYI...

I'm so sorry for the most disappointing at koh chang. The truth koh chang have another little waterfall which you can park motercycle and climb it then if you know the way koh chang have many many beautiful place you don't know .Koh Kood, Koh Mak, Koh Waii there're not far from Koh chang also look like paradise island too .I hope you can see there in future if you not boring tour by yourself .

I'm worried that if you guys don't know Thai or listen to Thai you don't understand at all. You might be overcharged by some Thais for your purchase. or travel expenses And it will make you feel bad for our country.
Don't worry 🙃 We've been to Thailand before and we loved it - and we still love it this time. Of course it can always happen (in every country) that you're scammed or overcharged, especially if you don't speak the language - but also you get a good feeling of what things should cost over time and there are always locals who help you and don't try to fool you 😊 Most people we've met so far were super kind!
