I specifically came to this video after watching a TH-cam short that explained that apparently a number of Allies were spared from these grenades going off because the German soldiers would actually forget to install the detonators since they stopped putting the text on the grenade during the war and I was like, "Wait, how does that work? You just install a detonator?"
I appreciate that your video was straightforward about how this could have happened.

almost as if he were an ex soldier and had thrown quite a few of them on his career... he seemed to have known all about priming it, and how far to toss it.

There was an attempt to make a fragmentation version of the potato masher. I found one while metal detecting in Luxembourg. There were squares scored into the "can" of the body. Each square was about 1/2". They were 6 rows tall and I didn't count how many around the circumference. If you tell me where to place a photo, I will. I love your videos!

Hey Robert that was actually a sleeve that slipped over the regular grenade. I was at a museum in Europe and saw a crate of them next to a box of Deactivated Stick grenades. It gave the Infantryman options he might not have normally without having to use 2 different types of Grenades

Hahaha if you M24 had the fragmentation band around it, things may have been a little bit different 😂

That was a mild toss. Even though it's not a frag, dude tossed it into a bush which makes its own shrap.
I'd have fuckin SENT it if I was doing that demonstration.

Live M3 Greaseguns are terribly expensive, and having a live 'masher lying about would be just, well, hazardous to one's health.
