Studio Ghibli is like the Walt Disney Studios from a few decades ago...when they were famous for their animated movies and short clips. Not saying that current Disney is bad, but is recycling old movies (from their legendary years, btw) so they compare to those years of Disney. Disney themselves have distributed S.Ghibli movies in America. If you want to see something weird (full of japanese mythology and mystique) try watching Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away. Just don't watch it with your younger daughters, those movies have some frightening scenes for little kids imho. But as you would say, they are highly recommended, specially for you who have background in graphic design and illustration.
Before BlueFin last year, I could get the R2D2/ R5D4 Bandai model kit from a Japanese retailer shipped for $14. Today that price is $28. The price hike came immediately when the Bluefin deal went into effect. Middlemen drive up the cost of everything.
That's what I never understood about the distribution. You go to barnes and noble and gamestop and you see SH Figuarts, but it's just DBZ. It's never marvel or star wars. Which is super disappointing. When I went to TFCON last year, there was a ton of figuarts star wars and marvel there and I regret not going crazy on those
I love Bluefin it would have been both more expensive and almost impossible for me to grab SHFs. Importing fees are just too high for me unless I'm ordering in bulk.
