Just ordered mine and used your discount code! Thank you for the great video and in-depth review. Swayed me from getting the GlowForge Aura or the X-tool M1!
The better option is the 20W, air assist is really needed. X Tool also say that the printing is not as good as a home printer, so you may still want to keep one. The ink is supposed to last for about 20 full pages of colour. Users may like to know that you can laser cut very fine detail on paper or card (with the correct settings) and it is like magic watching the bits fall out of stencils because there is then no peeling away or weeding to be done. Bliss.
Great information and insight, thanks! 20W is a great option and I agree, air assist is a must for any laser. Happy to see it comes with most bundles. Cutting paper with a laser is a beautiful thing 😍
I was about to buy the original m1 and loved the idea of having a camera and it being so accurate. Now there's the ultra version, all better but no camera. So it makes me wonder..isn't it a deal breaker? Or is the m1 ultra really accurate? Thanks
The camera is really nice and easy, however I find the marking system on their laser pretty accurate. You can also use your phone and the XCS app to take a photo of the workspace and use it for placement. I would opt for the Ultra over the original because of all the extras you can add on (now or down the road) that the M1 doesn't offer.
Hi. I just bought xtool m1 ultra, already have cricut maker, but i need laser funkcion. I have question about marking sprays - in Latvia we can`t get Brilliance or others - can i use regullar marking spray from my stores?
I am quite interested in considering a laser cutter to replace my very old Silhouette and Brothers machines. One important feature I want is to be able to cut around images printed on cardstock. From what I can tell the laser cutter is far better than using the blade. Is it possible to do a print than cut just using the laser?
This could be the right machine for you. You can definitely cut paper with the laser. I have been able to print then cut on wood using the laser and it's quite easy. I've done print then cut with the blade accurately too.
I have a silhouette for I think it’s called. The software is so intimidating that I just put it all back in the box and it’s upstairs in the closet. You said that the software for the tool is simple. Simple like…Cricut or something else?
XCS is closer to Cricut software as far as how easy it is to use. Silhouette makes an amazing product and you can do more with that software then most other programs, but it can be a little overwhelming.
Released on my bday. So cool!

I'm so glad this was helpful! Enjoy your machine.

@@SarahVanderkooy thanks for the reply.
Thanks, that was very informative and useful - unfortunately I purchased an S1 4 weeks ago so missed this opportunity :(
The S1 is an awesome machine, it's my go to laser for most things. Enjoy, and thanks for watching!
If the inkjet option is not waterproof I would assume it's not the best option for printing on patch twill to make printed patches?

As a woodworker looking to add supplemental income, how would this benefit me?
Also draws in stone?
You can engrave slate and some stone with the laser. I'm not sure printing or drawing on stone would work. The ink probably wouldn't stick.
@@SarahVanderkooy Thanks for the answer.
Does it accept SVG files? I have a lot to cut fabric vinyl on my Cricut. I would love to update to this tool.
Yes it does accept SVG files!
Can you print on transparency sheets . . .
Probably not, unless they are designed to accept dye ink.

I have cricuit 3 but I want something to cut glass
Unfortunately this machine won't cut glass. You can engrave on glass using this or any diode as long as you coat it with a marking spray first.
