Great content Gary! I am about to start investing and your approach really aligns with mine. I was to about to put money in VOO and then found its Canadian counterpart VFV by researching around. Does VUG has an ETF on Toronto stock exchange?
Unfortunately VUG does not have a direct equivalent listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) But if you're looking for a TSX-listed ETF that focuses on growth VGRO (Vanguard Growth ETF Portfolio) is listed on the TSX and may be a good option for you. Thanks for watching Mehtab!
Hi Frank, I am actually filming the video for that tomorrow, and I should have it online by Wednesday/Thursday at the latest. I will be doing a break down of XEQT and comparing it against the VFV/XIC/XEC portfolio. Glad to hear my next video is a topic you are interested in and Thanks for watching!
What can you recommande etf for low risk as you start to invest just to grow your money or if you have hisa is it posible to hold hisa on wealth simple at the same thing have another account inside your tfsa for buying stock basically you just wanna set your emergency fund in an hisa inside your tfsa
XEQT or VEQT are great low risk all-in-one ETFs with average yearly returns of around 8-9%. Wealthsimple offers a product called Wealthsimple Save, which functions as a high-interest savings account within your TFSA. This allows you to: Earn interest on your emergency fund tax-free. Hold both a HISA and ETFs or stocks in the same TFSA account. Thanks for watching!
why not just get XEQT? Also, if I already have some USD sitting around in a brokerage account, would it make sense to just buy VOO? Any tax implication if buying in a registered account?
XEQT is a great option for investors. If you’re dealing in US currency, VOO is an ideal choice. However, for registered accounts like TFSAs, keep in mind there’s a 15% withholding tax on dividends from US-based ETFs. I’ve broken down VOO and its impact on TFSAs and RRSPs in my previous video, "Best TFSA & RRSP ETF Portfolio in 2025". Be sure to check it out for more details. Thanks for watching! Thanks for watching!
A safe strategy would be to mimic your TFSA by holding more VFV, XIC, and VGRO. In my previous video, I broke down my current RRSP, which leans more towards dividends and capital gains. If you're far from retirement, I suggest focusing on ETFs that emphasize capital gains, similar to your TFSA strategy. As you get closer to retirement, you can shift your focus to dividend-heavy ETFs in your RRSP. Thanks for watching!

XIC and XEC are included in XEQT. Just curious about what your thoughts are going with XIC and XEC vs. going with XEQT....

I recently opened my rrsp account and do not know what holdings to buy and how to go about it. My tfsa currently has VFV, XIC and VGRO.
