I was young and angry in the 80's but honestly besides some good hardcore shit.. the birth of thrash (which crapped quickly) and some epic awesome rap NWA PE etc Other than that it was hit new wave garbage pop and the death of stadium rock! cheers charliewired
Why, it's those personal acts, of course! Those personal acts, those suicides pacts, those carelessly stored razor blades in the hands of small children! IT'S MY FACE SMEARED ON THE PAVEMENT! IT'S EVERYDAY!!!
@@sutiszorny8039 it's basically an extremely sarcastic (and vague) way of complaining about the world changing extremely fast in odd ways and people who complain about it, simultaneously, afaict honestly it's kind of a nothing song, though, nomeansno does these a lot where they have songs that actually mean very little but just vaguelly represent an idea. i cant really tell you for sure what they actually intended of it, though.
@@kinkinkijkin that's very much not how my girlfriend interpreted at alllllll. She said it's more political, including the second wave feminism phrase "the personal is political", and how personal interactions are so controlled by politics that we have to put a mask on just to integrate into society. The black and yellow is about interracial marraige. The black and red and blue is about the violence of it all (black and white and red all over) and also black people vs the red and blue (the police), and how we watch it, but just have to go on with our lives ("those joneses! gotta love them") since capitalism and The Fucking Grind Of Life pits us all against each other. But that it is very much about personal interactions and how politics guides and shapes them. She'd never heard the band until tonight.
NoMeansNo are like Motorhead with a Master's degree
Brilliant! Well done…
i am listening to this ... still
I played this a lot as a college DJ back in the last century...never though it'd be so utterly prophetic.
@user-fj1pq8me7w It only got worse...
THOSE JONESES!

My favorite song! Well that changes daily...Nomeansno are KING!
Various disguises are regrettable but necessary if youre gonna make it through the day, everyday

I played the shit out of this song back in the day! god bless college radio!
I never felt so alone....
I never felt so used....
I never felt so...... EXCITED!
The "black and blue and red are the colors of everyday" part seems like an homage to Remain In Light era Talking Heads to me
I always thought it was about being battered and beaten by life and losing your cool
@@JC-ol6bz I just meant musically it sounds like them
Love this album so much!!!
7th grade me loved this. Rediscovering this now. Thanks mom!
just realized this song has multiple "oooos" and if you say it fast enough, it's multipe ooze

This band has been among rock music's hidden treasures.
I can easily imagine them as an act in a Lollapalooza or Warped tour.
Darren Stansbury. They are better than that
@@oiyabastard7275 well said and true

Yeahhh....I love it and I start to ooz... 🤮🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁😆🤣😅👍👍👍😜

Being in a nomeansno mosh pit in the 80's and 90's now thats some ooze
taped this off uc radio Years ago, song sounds best on a messed up old cassette
Always loved the ooze. Sounds a little Jim Carey now. The disco/ska bit at the end still gets me on the kitchen linoleum in socks though.
mega song
A bold plan drawn up....

Just wrote a comment about this. I am not a native speaker, though.
Hello!
I like the song ... but the likes are already equivalent to the number of my name so i have to leave it alone for now.
you went to college? you let that shit indoctrinate you " didnt you learn anything from this song?
