_360_ was cool, but _PopMart_ was a blast. An entire stadium transformed in to a thumping and bumping disco. Just a blast. And the album, _Pop,_ is very underrated.
Having been to multiple live shows from all genres, U2 Live no matter what tour, are simply hard to beat from a sound, visual and stage craft perspective. U2 is always reinventing themselves which is something a lot of other acts dont do. How many times can they play streets and other old tracks? Hopefully for ever because no matter what show, all versions are different. U2 Live.... Now theres a great night out!
Edge is one of the most innovative guitarists of his time. Uses effects, certain pick ups on guitars etc to mix paint like an artist. There's maybe more technically gifted players re finger and scale work etc but Edge is what it says on his tin. Sound sculpter of highest quality
mind you the best from the Pop era i'd say is Gone (fantastic song) and Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me which was an awesome song which I didn't realise how much I had missed it until 360.
Really?? Stage was so much more high tech and had less technical difficulties, every seat in the house was awesome. Sound quality was incredible and the concepts and the intective changing screen particularly in Zooropa was awesome! They also brought back The Fly, EBTTRT remix, Zooropa, Ultra Violet and HMTMKMKM.
This stage setup was so over the top audacious and so out of control BOMBASTIC, it'll never ever be topped! I'm actually surprised they made ANY money on this tour because just the setup and breakdown alone had to cost millions!
I know, I am not saying it isn't mindblowing I just think that while it is good it is not the best, nor second in my books. Then again each U2 tour is incredible and has something different, some more than others. The tours in the 80s were just about the music, in the 90s you've got Zoo TV; the in your face comminication errors, Popmart; as you said sexual chocolate, Elevation; intimate shows with resurrected classics and incedible sound, Vertigo; a large elevation, then you know 360; UBER
He even brought many of guitars in 360 tour but he never used them all (although many of them are backups or only for some songs they never play)......
I didn’t like their image during this period, too much of a change after Zoo tv. I hated the McDonald’s arch. The main issue I had was the songs weren’t very memorable.
yea but not as good, nor as interesting at the in your face Zoo TV featuring The Fly, Mirror Ball Man and Mr Macphisto. Also not as impressive as 360 due to the sheer magnitude of the stage and the fact it had more features and less technical difficulties. Also while Pop was a good album Achtung Baby is hands down the best U2 album ever, every song is a masterpiece.

What can I say, I saw Popmart in Leeds and it was mindblowing.

Fuck it, I loved Pop and Popmart.
the gear looks so out dated now, but it was the cutting edge of technology at the time, thank you for sharing this time capsule
Pop mart the best show I've ever seen
Buenos Aires 97
Love you u2
Zoo TV , 360, and then pop, I+E ,Joshua tree 87 and 2017 best band I've seen live by far 👍🎸🇬🇧
Thumbs up if you're a guitar geek and you started drooling at 3:50... OMG
I’ll help the new kids out 3:50

Not forgetting his vox amps and his brilliant guitar tech

I would fkn love the willue Williams lighting board with the logos on it .
What a fkn sick piece of equipment & history.

Agree on Achtung & Zoo TV tour. I'd take Popmart over 360 though. It was a fantastic production imo.
This stage setup was so over the top audacious and so out of control BOMBASTIC, it'll never ever be topped! I'm actually surprised they made ANY money on this tour because just the setup and breakdown alone had to cost millions!
They didn’t. It pretty much broke even . That’s why the elevation tour was scaled down
Popmart was pure sexual chocolate.
Dallas has not aged at all
I can't find any photos of the B-stage, or the little raised walkway and ladder leading to it.

Still a good tour though, you just can't beat a giant lemon! :')
The lemon was dumb af
Dallas💞
How come they were carrying the Explorer and the Disco Les Paul all over the world and they never used them in this tour?
I think they brought it for sentimental reason.....? I think it's just preference
TheZooropaBaby Actually the Disco Les Paul was used by Bono sometimes for LNOE

only if it works
Is Paul mcguinness English ?
His English accent gave it away !
It’s cool to have the largest production . But U2 weren’t at it at all during this period. The production wasn’t matched by the performance.
Disagreed . Performance matches the amazing production
this tour was U2's worst
I changed my mind the last 3 tours are much worse than Pop mart
All crap since ‘LoveTown imo.
Andy Smith i gotta say the 2010s is when u2 started to drop off, still have had some great songs tho
Zoo TV and 360 is better
It's all dated now

It was dumb
