    I asked Tecovas directly about their boots' suitability for riding, horse training, etc. They gave me a forthright, "No." I appreciated their honesty and the fact they know their product well enough to give an answer (I've asked other boot companies and gotten the digital equivalent of a blank stare).

      That might be true of all their boots with the exception of their ‘ranch wear’ boots, like “The Stockton”, which are heavy oiled bovine leather and I find them perfect for riding my motorcycles. They are my daily wear boots. Yesterday I got caught out in the rain. My feet stayed dry and my boots got a nice cleaning at the same time.

      I’ve asked a company before, not Tecovas, to send me a pair for review. At first they were all excited and said yes, but after watching my channel they realized we were going to actually test these boots out and backed out. Their response was “our boots aren’t meant for work. They are meant for light wear in an office/ dinner setting” 😂

    Nice video and very accurate in my opinion! I own several pairs of Lucchese Classics, 2000's & 1883's, Tony Lama, Black Jack, Nocona, Dan Post & one pair of Tecovas boots. A few pairs are $1500.00 exotics. The sole on the Tecovas as the Man states in the video is more of a dress style. It's thinner and not as robust. However, I totally agree that they are a really good value and very comfortable if fitted correctly like any cowboy boot. Personally I think Black Jack boot company in El Paso, Tx. makes the best boot for the money. I own seven pairs of them and in my opinion they are every bit the quality of the Lucchese classics I own. Thanks for sharing!

    I have been wearing Tecovas for about 4 years and over that time I have had 3 models. I wear the suede model about 5 times a week and they are great everyday boots walking and being in an office they are great and very comfortable. They are also durable everyday boots. I also have the work style boots with rubber soles. I wear these for on site jobs and they have cuts and stuff but are confortable and fit my feet well. (I have narrower feet). I also have the traditional square toe leather boots and they are ok but they show wear a lot more then the suede pair, and look the cheapest in my opinion. I guess I am saying the if you are open to suede for an everyday generally light to medium toughest boot they are great. The work boot is good for pretty much anything you don’t need steel toes for(can’t comment on the rancher perspective).

I’ve had combat boots that didn’t hold up as well. Honestly, they’re great boots. If you work hard in the field, good luck finding a pair of boots that won’t need maintenance. Just take care of your boots and they last longer. Do your proper maintenance.

    Let’s be honest… We all know Tecova specializes in boots for going out on the town or just basic yardwork a.k.a. feeding the pigs stuff along that line. No riding or muddying around lol. That’s like saying, you wear your Cody James ranching. It’s just not an appropriate boot to wear. One should know this going in.
    However, they do make a pair of ranch boots now I would stand behind! It’s obviously not like stingray or elephant on down the line.. but they are as sturdy as anything Ariot makes!

    Thanks for the video. Looking for my first pair of boots and Tecovas is on that I found online that seems reputable. I also found Alfa western wear but not sure about them, prices are low but not good return policy. They want you to pay return shipping. My local options are only a boot barn that is opening this week. Any advice you can offer as to what to look for in a boot for 200-300$ ?

      I've walked around the alfa store in SA. I walked away empty handed. In my opinion, their boots are more of a "throw away/disposable" product. They may last a few months in the farm or ranch life. They also have a ton of animal print finishes "imitation" for one to go muddy and wet on the ranch. Not my go to store for a good or durable pair of boots.

    • @MannyTheBootmaker
      @MannyTheBootmaker ปีที่แล้ว

      I apologize it took this long to respond, I'm sure by now you've probably bought 20 pair of boots! haha...... As for Alfa, I don't personally have any dealings with them, but from what I have heard, I would shy away. When it comes to boots, you get what you pay for. We sell Los Altos boots and have yet to have a negative feedback from a customer. Tecovas are on par with Los Altos. You just gave me an idea for a video! thanks hope you and the family had a great Christmas!

      If you can afford it. Go for a made to measure pair of boots from a real boot maker. Shy away from the guys in El Paso. They’ll usually buy lower grade material. This is how they keep their boot prices low. Some even sell boots as if the material was premium. lol.. Heel counter I would agree. As for the toe box, most use celastic now a days. There are different qualities of celastic in my opinion. The thicker more expensive celastic works best for toe boxes. In higher end boots you’ll see the heel counters made out of leather.

    Refined version:
    When comparing Tecovas' southern-style boots to Thursday Boots' urban city-style lace boots, it's important to note that both pairs are not intended for heavy-duty ranching or rigorous riding. Rather, they are designed for urban settings, whether it's going out on the town or engaging in basic tasks. These boots maintain the aesthetic appeal of riding and ranching boots while catering to urban wear and tear. In my opinion, the goatskin material used in these boots makes them suitable for riding a motorcycle, which is the most extreme form of riding I would personally recommend.

    I've heard pretty good things about Tecovas. I like their newer Stockton boots. Their prices sure beat RIos Of Mercedes, Lucchese. Andersen Bean. Their prices are ridiculous!!!! The only boot maker I have found the best for price is Wesco.

      I have a lot of boots. Some Lucchese costing close to a grand. But, nothing wears like Wesco!

    They are more like a simple dress boot with safe colors .
    If your working I’d hope you have an actual work boot.

      They’ll vary. Our elephant 🐘 made to to measure boots start out at $2900.

    Tecovas are more for going out or wearing them as business casual. Georgia boots, Chippewa, and Justin are better as work boots.

      I agree. I do have a customer that wears them to work on farm. we see his boots multiple times a year. lol

    Tecovas is a good boot just as long as they ACTUALLY HAVE THE BOOT! I ordered twice and after the boots not arriving for 3 or 4 days I called Tecovas only to find the boots WEREN'T AVAILABLE!! I was able to order them and they sure as hell charged my credit card but they were NEVER COMING and NOBODY LET ME KNOW THAT! I had to do it. Last I knew, selling a product you don't have is ILLEGAL but they make a habit of it. Don't order online. CALL THEM and order that way so your sure you will be getting the boots you are paying for.

      I Can understand that. We are also retailers for a cowboy boot brand out of Leon and sometimes we have trouble getting boots in. Sometimes it take them 3 weeks to 3 months to stock. Luckily the majority of customers are willing to wait once notified.

    I want to use these as a pair of duty boots as a police officer. Yes or no?

    • @MannyTheBootmaker
      @MannyTheBootmaker ปีที่แล้ว

      Where are you a police officer at? I was a police officer for years myself. I would add rubber sole guards. As long as your department approved them, I don't see why not. here is a video of the rubber sole protectors. th-cam.com/video/XSM8LBjUuck/w-d-xo.html

      @@MannyTheBootmaker hello and thank you for the reply. Since I made that comment I was just entering the academy in South florida, and since then I decided it was not for me, and walked away with a new found respect for those who are able to do that job on a continuous basis. Any time I just hate it took this long to reply. It’s definitely a career that many don’t know the whole story. At least you got to see how it works.

    Hard to form an opinion about my nolans because they are a full size bigger than what they are stamped. Because of that I'm not pleased and probably won't order another pair from them. Their jackets aren't sized very well either

    • @MannyTheBootmaker
      @MannyTheBootmaker ปีที่แล้ว

      I would definitely get in touch with Tecovas and let them take care of you. It could very well be a defect or QC issue. Even if you've already worn them, I'd still contact them about this. Can't say much on their jackets, I've heard mixed opinions also.
