A HUGE thing to check before you install the screen again is to make sure that all of the grounding tabs are flat and not pointing up. If one of them isn't lying flat then it will poke into the back of the screen and leave a black mark.
speaks from experience huh? It's kinda odd how Google still decided to keep the spiky grounding thing even for the P8, people has found dents under the screen layer and keep saying it's the mb screws, meanwhile I instantly recognise that it's from the grounding tabs. Wondering if it's affecting the reliability after lots of thermal cycling or accidental dropping, making the thing poke the OLED substrate
Remember just only a decade ago you could just swap batteries in and out by sliding the back cover off, take the old battery out with your fingernail and put a new one in. Yeah, phone manufacturer’s should bring that back. No need for a billion tiny screws, unnecessary tools, glue and dismantling the entire phone.
Thankfully the EU is mandating that in the upcoming years. Batteries that can be replaced without using 2 suction cups, a heat gun and 5 frigging guitar picks lol.
Agreed with OP ... you used to be able to pop off the backplate and pop in a new battery. Phones have regressed over the years. Frustrating that you have to take such a huge risk to perform extremely basic, routine maintenance.
@@plumt4119 can achieve full water resistance using o-rings. My Suunto dive watch is water resistant to 500 feet and has a cover for the battery so this is a flimsy excuse for all this adhesive nonsense.
By removing the screen, leaving the spikes in the corners, you will end up breaking the screen. Apparently that’s what’s happening, that’s why the screen is changed at the end of the video 😅
Not a good demonstration really is it when the guy demonsrating couldnt repair the phone without damging it, I here people complain about iphone's being fragile this phone is on another level
If you have a 3D printer, thats a great way to warm up the screen. I first warm up the bed to 60c then lay the phone screen face down for about 30 seconds, thats usually enough. Be aware above 60c is pretty hot, and generally anything close to 90c can damage your screen or plastics
The old Samsung and other brands had removable batteries. Even new Samsung industrial tablets have removable batteries. It is just crazy that the phone industry has gone backwards by making the battery so difficult to remove without damaging the phone. It is better to sacrifice a bit of water resistance for greater ease in replacement of the battery. How many people actually dunk their phone in water, compared to those who end up changing the phone or replacing the battery and screen because of battery wear?
Its not even real water resistance. They wont give you any replacement if you get it water damaged. Says a lot. Ive seen many stories where people take them underwater for photos and they break in minutes. Hopefully the new EU law in 2027 will bring back removable batteries
The fact that you have to first remove the screen, and damage it too, just to change the battery is such a fail! 👎🏾 You should not have to go through your screen just to access such critical components like the battery! 🔋Oh, if smartphone manufacturers would just go back to designs where accessing the battery, and basics takes just a fingernail to pry off the back cover. 😬
Tried to repair like shown but way to quick tutorial and shows at the end a new screen - my screen got damaged because the frame of the screen separated and thus the screen was destroyed - highly doubt that this can be done in a safe way. Sorry quite a disappointment
To get customers to repair it in stores instead of self. Battery swap from 850Sek, Screen from 5399 Sek. Alot cheaper to leave away it if you afraid to damage it.
@@swedenevguru8483 Hmm that’s not too bad actually especially for the battery, I would probably not attempt it myself though. If you could just open it from the back it’d be a lot easier
I am in need of battery replacement for this exact model after less than 2 years. The batteries in the pixel line tend to be pretty bad and degrade faster than those in any cheap piece of electronics I've ever had.
Okey, no easy change of battery. I will not buy this phone. Atleast it has Android updates to 2027 in my country, so will not lock you out with software in a couple of years. Anyway not an option.
Why are there no replacement parts for the iPhone SE 2020 in your european store? I need rear camera, battery, taptic engine, speaker, lighning port, and a screen adhesive to close it up. Everybody wants change the world....

My battery Just blew up so the screen popped off. Replacement Kit is on the way. Perfect timing. Thanks for the Tutorial.
I have the same problem with my Pixel 7
@@iamgeorgevillaI also have the same problem
Me too after less than 2 years of use. It is not normal I think.
And which company is producing original batteries for Google phones ?
My battery just pillowwed and the screen popped off frame. Never had an issue with a battery like that.

get it widened before it cuts circulation

How did this break it though?
It's amazing how much innovation and effort goes into dealing with expensive devices assembled with a hot glue gun.
6:35 you damaged the old screen?
You can see what went wrong at 2:27
And at 2:50 you can see that the glass has separated from the screen on the top

My screen is coming off because of the battery expanding so it should be a easy repair

Also make sure to not use a textured plate as this will absolutely diminish heat transfer
for me i can just leave my pixel idling and it'll be too hot to touch 💀
Just use iron upside down
@@msterdans that's way too hot

What a pain to repair the phone nowadays. I miss the old Galaxy type phones when you could have easily removed the battery and replace it.

How modern technology is a failure 🤷♂️
If there isn't every single part. what's the point?
6:55 You can use rubber bands instead of stacking those
Replace battery needs to replace screen? (because has been broken during deassembly?) So nice tutorial bruh...
Top 👍👍
yeah aint no way im even trying this lmao 😂😂 i promise u i will fk it up

I found it comical they called this an "easy" install. I will pay the $100 bucks and deal with this POS till the upgrade next year.
If you need a battery replacement after just one year, you're doing it wrong.
Luckily people can also have access to this video in the future
Is there a rule that you only publish how to do battery replacement after 3 years of it releases?
No one asked though?
are you unaware how trash the pixel batteries are?
