    This is literally the only one that I made it through non-stop. You’re videos are awesome to drum along with man, and honestly I lose track of time while I’m playing with them

    Your scatting ability is incredible. Effortless and all on beat. Have you ever studied Carnatic rhythmic singing, aka Konnakol?

      😁🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 yes! I love it! I grew up beat boxing and free-styling. Got into jazz improvisation and it has really helped me out

      @@marcushawkinsmusic of course, beat boxing! Isn’t it interesting how different cultures and parts of the world have developed their own unique and intricate traditions of vocalizing. Do you play jazz drums as well, like on a kit? I’d love to hear it :)

    • @marcushawkinsmusic
      @marcushawkinsmusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thinkpad20 I did a lot of jazz in high school and college (part of my scholarship was for drum set)

      @thinkpad20 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marcushawkinsmusic That's really cool! I checked out some of your kit vids and they rock. Here's an idea for you, how about a chopout that's a combination of hands and feet? You could set up a kick practice pad and combine hand and foot rudiments. I think it would be fun and interesting!

    When I was in high school. Our drum line would do something called pyramids. A check patter of eight notes. Then 1 bar of buzzes. Back to check then to 2 bars of buzzes. So on and and so forth to 10 and back to 1

    • @marcushawkinsmusic

    could you groove up some of Morello's Master Studies like you do with these rudiments? it's a great book but with a backing track it'd be sick. just joined your patreon.

    Thank you for this!! I marched Matrix Open bass 1 last season and I've barely picked up sticks since I left high-school. Auditions are this weekend and I'm screwed!! I have to build chops quick!! I was pressured into doing world!! Update: you’re looking at Matrix Wold’s Bass 4 this year 💀
