Slight correction on your weight. The Tama stand weighs 3 pounds 5.2 ounces, (53.2 oz) the DW weighs 2 pounds 12.1 ounces (44.1oz). That is only 9.1 ounces more for the Tama, which is a little more than half a pound lighter, for the DW not more than a pound lighter. Makes a big difference when we are talking about 2-3 pound stands. I wouldn't give up the full metal build and the ease of setup for half a pound. Also the DW stand is $20 more than the Tama stand. All those reasons are why I bought the Tama stand.
The fact that DW has plastic on those spots with the fasteners immediately disqualifies it for me. That's a point of failure just waiting to happen. I'm sure it cuts down on weight a tad, but c'mon DW.
i believe the dw stand has no 'bump stop' in order to allow overlapping of stands in confined spaces. and it works.
Bingo. My Gibraltar light weight stands do the same thing. Imo, it's a feature which allows for more options when placing stands close to each other.
Tama classic hardware rules! Except maybe the hi-hat. Rock solid, close tolerance. I have a horde of them.

Thanks for reviewing. What about the height? Witch one goes higher?
The answer is Yamaha hw3 series stands
I first thought it was Trump doing the review
I think you're biased a bit. American made DW
