Another determining factor on the effectiveness of lay downs is sunlight. The brighter the day, the closer to the lay downs they will be. Them bass are just like me, they enjoy a good shade tree.
Thanks Randy. Actually I just caught a 5 pound 5 ounce bass today on a lay down from the bank with a jig. I'm in northwest Missouri and it was 51 degrees and windy today.
Great to see you out on the water. Knowing that you mostly use your phone you should look into a lapel mic that will work with your phone. The Purple Panda is an excellent one. Your audio going up and down should instantly go away. Tight lines Randy...keep up the good work.
The on Lake videos are your better videos…..no comparison. So much better than a lot of your argumentative videos or videos trying to defend yourself from knuckle heads making stupid comments. Thanks for quality information!!!
Great video as usual Randy. I really enjoyed the in depth descriptions and the fact that you weren't just sitting in the shop explaining things. I know this isn't the first video like that, but I just felt that I needed to comment and let you know how much it is appreciated.
Several great tips there. Thank you. I’m snag-averse. Don’t have budget for the best lures. Lost what could have been my PB when it tangled in a hidden branch. I hope it survived.
Awsome video Randy. Ill be working some wood w these techniques. Ive been doin most of it right. But details are key ,like florida grass ,pitching and flipping, the details ,and small changes are key to more bites👌
I agree with most of your videos but I'll have to part company with you on this one. The most important thing to remember here is to fish the cover from the from the back forward thru the limbs so your bait doesn't hang up in the limbs.
I always know I will enjoy this man's videos. Him and Richard Gene . They are God loving men and both great mentors of the sport. I've learned a lot from both .
Randy has made it clear he is not “god-loving.” He’s a great guy by human standards, but we will be judged by a much higher standard. I’ll watch Richard Gene just for his personality, even when his topic isn’t useful to me. He does acknowledge God. He’s such a hoot!
I like first thing cause after watching his videos for long time now I know they going to be very informative so before I forget to like that's what I do first off lol
Thanks Randy! I'm just learning to bass fish at 54. Love your channel. Wish you could have actually casted a few at that lay down. Do you do that on the members page?
Great video, Randy. If you were a livescoper, this would have been a 30 second video---point FFS at object, see fish, toss bait at them. Not much skill there. 🤣
@fish doctor I catch plenty the old school way and really enjoy it, thanks. I think fishing and video games are two different things and I prefer fishing.
Nothing ruins a good looking piece of cover for me faster than getting hung up. Lure selection and rigging for working this laydown would help a lot of fishermen I think. Does anyone lay down a hung rod and pick up another one? I’ve gotten into some major messes trying this, especially in wind. I feel like a complete incompetent some days.

Here's what I do. Flip a jig and wrap it around a dry limb, then go in to retrieve it and hit a submerged limb with my trolling motor, then I go fish a different spot and swear I'll never do that again.
I’ll tell you what , for the past 6months to a year u have been given up the juicy juice who needs live scope when you have Randy Blaukat makes educational videos Edgar Melton PA I’m even resubing who cares about membership fees your giving really good instruction s these days not just bait videos

On the water lessons like this are awesome Randy! Thanks!
That was so informative and indepth and in a short time. I would love that to be a 1 hour seminar, a shallow water cover or laydown seminar.
Yes! That would be a potential game changer!
This is a great breakdown and never had anyone say to cast with the wind like you did, I will have to do this the best time!! Thanks Randy!

Nice catch, Jack. Congrats!
Is it anyone else that likes all the videos even before watching?
Confident that you are in for a good lesson.

Love all your videos but especially when you are fishing. Thank you as always. Tight lines.
One of your best tips and advice you have done, fits my lake for sure.

Good stuff as always!!
Randy!!! Loving the on the water video!!!🤓 nice on the spot demonstration!!!
Awesome stuff Randy.
Great tips! If I get some time off from work I'll be reaching out for some lessons next year!
This is very helpful thank you for the on the water education. I would have casts a few times and moved with one type of bait.
Alot of good looking rocks to fish

* Yes, work the cover over with a weedless bait before you brake out the treble hooks.
Now THIS is some good shit right here 👍🏼👍🏼
I always take the hooks off my crankbaits so that I don't hang up and loose them.
Do you find that largemouth use these areas more than spotted bass, Randy?
What is your approach to a tree that is cut down from the bank and positioned down a deep sloping shore?
Depends on the water visibility
@@randyblaukatintuitive clear, good visibility
