    I live in Mississippi and your cottage garden is so much healthier and prettier than anything I’ve seen in humid Mississippi. I’m a floral designer in a flower shop, and I recognize many of your flowers that we use in our designs, and yours look so much better than the flowers we get from wholesale flower shops, who usually get them from other countries. I have subscribed to your channel, and I’m enjoying watching your videos. I told my husband, that I admire you and so many young mothers, who choose to stay in the home and be what Mothers were intended to do, which is take care of their families. Good job. I would recommend Acre Homestead channel to you if you haven’t found Becky yet. She is another one of my favorite homesteaders, too. I will recommend that she watch your channel. Good job.

      Hello! Thanks so much for subscribing and for your kind words, I so appreciate it! I’m honestly surprised at how well things look with how odd the weather has been this year. Drought then flooding, high humidity, pest pressure. The space is holding up well considering. Thank you for watching, blessings 🤍

    I am curious about the raspberries, how you trellised them, care for them, etc. i would love to see a video about that.

    The garden is looking so full and lush. I am always so amazed when I look back at pictures from early in the season and compare them to present day. It’s encouraging and a great reminder to keep working, the harvest is coming. The flowers are so beautiful and creates such a feeling of rest. Lovely tour Kelsey, thank you for sharing your garden with me. 🤗

    Someone else mentioned peas for your trellis. You can buy some beautiful colors. I live in the pacific northwest. We do not have a ton of sun in spring, and peas love it.

    Hostas do very well in shady area as well as fern. They make great bouquet fill😊

    We're right outside Pittsburgh & the spotted Lantern Fly is bad this year. My tomatoes are loaded but no ripe ones yet!

    • @seedandsparrowhomestead
      @seedandsparrowhomestead  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ugh those are such a problem too! The farmers around here have been dealing with them! Same here, lots of tomatoes but no blushing yet!

    I'm in NE PA and the Japanese beetles are horrible. I always find them at about 6pm so I keep soapy water nearby and that usually helps

    • @seedandsparrowhomestead
      @seedandsparrowhomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Terrible creatures! That soapy water trick in the morning really does help! Thanks for watching :)

      The beetles are busy here in eastern shore Virginia also. The birds are doing what they can, but if I see them I pick them off and squash them.

    Beautiful garden! Use the trellis for snap peas. They don’t mind some shade.

    Stunning Garden!
    I'm in zone 5B in NY, Japanese beetles started here about 2 weeks ago.i agreed they are a pain. I pick them off the plants twice a day if time allows. I do use diatdiatomaceous earth too but when it rains it keeps washing it away.

    • @seedandsparrowhomestead
      @seedandsparrowhomestead  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! They are such a pain! I’ve been spraying beneficial nematodes and milky spots in the fall, I also hang traps that seem to help, but yes, lots of hand picking 😬

    Looks awesome. I’ve seen other gardeners harvest the onion tops way before the onions are done and it keeps the onions growing.

    • @seedandsparrowhomestead
      @seedandsparrowhomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I've seen mixed reviews on that one. Some say it grows bigger onions, others say it will stunt their growth. Quite opposing views lol. Maybe one year I'll experiment!

    My new Passionflower vine is doing pretty well on the most shady of our three arched trellises. Wasn't sure, but it seems to tolerate a little more shade than my squash or beans. I also did a late sowing of peas since they could appreciate a lil' shade as temps warmed up going into summer.

    • @seedandsparrowhomestead
      @seedandsparrowhomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohhhh peas! Maybe I'll plant some yet! I'm not familiar with passion flower but it sounds lovely, I'll check it out. Thank you!

    • @ourhomesteadclassroom
      @ourhomesteadclassroom ปีที่แล้ว

      @seedandsparrowhomestead My pleasure! Passionflower is not only stunning but also makes a great sleepy-time tea. Just make sure to get the Passiflora incarnata species if you're growing it for medicinal use and not just as an ornamental.
