In this video you will see how to make a simple wireless power transmitter and receiver.
For this project you need enamelled copper wire 0.4-0.6 mm, 2N2222A transister, 27k resistor, 9v battery and connector.

The resistor, inductor, and transistor make as an oscillator circuit. Oscillator converts a DC to AC. As an AC is passed through the coil, an alternating magnetic field gets created. The alternating magnetic field induces and AC in the secondary coil (just like a transformer). The LED is connected to the secondary coil. Hence, the LED blinks. It blinks so fast that we see as if it is glowing constantly.

This is an excellent video. You mentioned that you connected 3 wires from the primary to three pins of the transistor. You should have mentioned which wire you connected to emitter, which one to collector and which one to the base. You may want to add a circuit diagram when describing the connections. That will make it even better.
