Also the structure of the highway (the asphalt) itself shows those were not in Germany. German Autobahn doesn't have green traffic signs, but blue ones.
Was in Berlin (last year) visiting a close friend of mine, and its a bit of both - there *ARE* sections of the Autobahn where you can *No Limit* but that depends on what areas. They do have Speed Cameras & Sections for speed limits (mainly through tunnels), and unlike us in America, you are not *ALLOWED* to hog the passing lane because you're just going "Fast" - if you arent Passing and Polizei see you, you can easily get a ticket for still impeding the flow of traffic. The OPEN land was such a nice view to see while driving there but yeaaa, the faster you're going - better hope your brakes and reaction is A1.

just for a bit. Any speed limit you place is matched by the drivers anyway, at least in the US. Having no speed limit doesn't really change accident rate, you just can't get caught for speeding.
@@a-a-rondavis9438I believe it would because it would cause everyone to be more cautious. Less lazy driving, txting & driving, being reckless, road rage etc. The risk of you losing your life from a mistake or impulse decision increases exponentially therefore making you more aware & cautious as a driver. So a by product of increased awareness or care in general would lead to lower accidents. Also slower drivers & less capable cars would be forced to not hog the “fast lane” because they are not capable of speeds really past 100-120mph & dam sure aren’t capable of maneuvering at speed. So everyone else who want a faster daily commute can their 100mph fun or just drive slower if they want while the capable cars can have theirs too 180+mph
@@Srtified_von You're vastly overestimating drivers' abilities, or at least what they think they can do. People would gun it through city and neighborhood streets and hit other cars, houses, and people, because there's no speed limit. People would overestimate the car's ability to maneuver at speed, especially on the highway. You'd have a mix of people that follow the general speed laws of before, while the other hotshots would always be trying to squeeze as much as they can out of their trip by speeding everywhere and not compensating by being more defensive and skilled of a driver. If anything, especially in the US, it would increase. The reason I said I don't think it would is because the people that speed or joyride their cars on the highway wouldn't change. Laws are put in place to be broken most of the time. Bad drivers wouldn't decrease, and sure as hell good drivers wouldn't increase either.
In the day of early internet you could find sooo many Autobahn accident compilations, most being the box trucks just not used to the turns, but some were over zealous small and hyper car drivers. Edit: I'm not talkiing about Darpa internet, but late 90's early 2000's public internet.
I think putting a limit on the autobahn would drastically lower the amount of people who visit that part of Europe because some people see this as a tourist attraction
I live in Germany. The highway there is speed limit but people still drive fast. They are puting cameras on bridges when someone drives past the bridge it takes a picture.
That cutting up clip isnt on the autobahn , in Germany if you camp o n the left lane without passing anyone you can get finned so that traffic situation will never happen. This happens in most of European countries cuz we actually have to pay for our license and we value it way more than in the states The fact that the autobahn has no speed limits at points and still is one of the safest highways in the planet just shows that good driving education its what really matters
While I heavily agree with you for the most part, I still have to remind Europeans that the US is vast, and we probably spend 500% (especially rural) more time driving than most European countries. I've worked with people that drove 100+Km ONE WAY daily to work. That's not the "norm" for everybody, but 40Km one way is fairly common. In a city that has transportation, no big deal. In a small town that has spread out industry among farmland that can barely afford their fire department and police, you provide your own transportation to places. If you multiplied the people on the Autobaun (or any European road) by 100, increase the normal typical driving distances 150%, and have a society that is BASED on covering long distances fairly quickly then you realize that virtually anyone outside of the city has to drive eventually. That in turn means training gets lax because a "failure in driving" can become a burden to a rural society. It's also why we own more cars too, so we don't wear a single car out to quickly and have a spare car (or two) when needed.
At least 67% of the Autobahn has no speed limit. I have been on it as a passenger a few times during my visits to Germany in 2018, 19, and just this past February. It does have speed limits in construction zones and in urban areas.
Less fatalities on German roads than on US roads because it is much harder to get your driver's license in Germany much harder. And those that do get it are usually better trained and more disciplined on the roads than in the US. US drivers tend to let loose and go crazy on the roads especially if they have a fast car .
Tbh they should set a Curfew for the speed limit and then after hours do what you want because you going at a certain speed and your not going to have time to adjust lanes or make any moves once you smack a car in front of you that’s it but in the end they should at set a curfew for the speed limit there
That rarely happens. It seems most drivers on the autobahn understand the furthest lane is going to be occupied by the fastest cars 180+mph so they refrain from using it other than to pass. The slower cars doing 80-100mph stay to the side because they understand they aren’t capable but they aren’t stopped from driving as fast as they want to where they want to go either. Therefore everybody wins essentially. You want to speed you can, if you don’t then you don’t have too.
Have driven on the autobahn many times... very satisfying... if financially possible, you should go to the Nurburgring & rip your benz around the course
You don´t see formula cars on the Autobahn, that was a special occasion and they had to get a permit for that as well as driving in a convoy since formula cars aren´t street leagal. I remember that clip from 10 years ago or so.
9:46 You can drive your own car on a racetrack (Nürburgring) in Germany if you want to test your or the car's limits. Personally, I think there should be a speed limit on the autobahn like 160 KMH / 100 mph
4:29 doesn't look like germany nor is it allowed. Overtaking on the right Shoulder: illegal. Cutting off people: illegal. If ANYONE would have seen his licenseplate, he would most likely get charged with Jail time (there would be a few more charges like reckless driving and endangerment).
This is not just about the speed limit. If US drivers had to get a German driver's license and had German traffic rules, there would be almost no accidents. It's always a balancing act. Do you want cheap and easy driver's licenses and accept a few deaths as a result, or not.
So cutting up traffic is very much illegal, only overtaking on the left is permitted. Also you can still get fined for high speed by going in an area without speed limit based simply based on the situation you're doing it in, why? Simply because not every situation is suitable for such speeds and you're expected to be sensible and adjust your speed according to the situation at hand. Simple example, going 300km/h on an empty road is perfectly fine, going 300km/h past a big group of cars going 130 or less will be considered reckless driving because there's too much traffic and any small mistake can cost many lives
5:05 Why we have so less numbers of deaths? Cause we have to visit a proper driving school, with 14 hours of theory lessons, and 12 practical lessons in a car with a professional driving instructor (NOT Race Instructor!) After that, we have a theory test, if you pass this, a practical test. So we learn how to handle a car or motorbike or truck. Americans learn to drive from parents, who learned it from their parents decades ago. Which learned to drive from their parents 2 more decades ago. And the grand grand parents learned to drive in WW2 in a jeep or tank in the war zone. Do you see the difference? Sorry to say that. But the professional instructors teaches us the newest rules, newest behaviors, tech, skills. You learn outdated behavior, skills and tech from people, who don't learn it, too. That is the reason, why we can handle fast cars and bikes, without killing us.
and that part where you were watching with the motorcyclist is only 100km/h (instead of 297km/h) #02:56 Everyone outside of Europe THINKS that you can go full throttle everywhere.......don't do that, many parts are 100 and 130km/h. Or you want to get rid of your license and your money. plus the penalties that come with it. that there are so ''few'' deaths can be true, if you drive normally here in europe you MUST keep as far to the right (because that is what you are taught with driving lessons that are much more intensive than in the USA....and better) as possible unlike in the usa where everyone drives spread out over the road which is dangerous and also at normal speeds. That is why such strange/stupid accidents happen in the usa.
i am from germany. there is no general speedlimit on the autobahn but there´s speedlimits. in a moment with no visible traffic on a longer stretch of straight road the fastest i´ve tried was 270kph or 168mph. 😁faster wasn´t possiple because my then car and the i wasn´t brave enough. 😭 all that happens around 25years ago.
TH-cam clickbait nonsens; most of the footage isn't even from the Autobahn....However, it's very safe to drive in Germany and western Europe in general, whereas the US ranks 2. after India in deaths in traffic. US, the freedom to be uneducated an unregulated...
Bad video. Most of the clips are not from Germany and are about reckless driving and that is strictly prohibited in Germany. Also, youre not allowed to drive as fast as you want everywhere and at any time. We have a general suggested speed of 130 km/h, which can be exceeded at your own discretion depending on the traffic situation. When traffic is light, you can drive faster, but on day most of the time the traffic is so heavy that you cannot drive faster than 160-180 km/h without it being illegal, because of reckless driving.
This video was done in an incredibly moronic. More than half of the videos aren't from the autobahns of Germany, but random highway clips from across the globe. They showed people undertaking all over the place which is completely illegal. You can overtake only on the left and once you finished your pass and the lane on your right is free, you are obliged to get back in it. Even if you travel at 400km/h and even at these speeds you must keep track of your rearview mirrors, because there is ALWAYS something faster coming from behind. I am in favor of the other way around - remove speed limits on all the highways which have bariers/nets/walls around them to prevent animals from jumping onto the road. Also, make dashacams mandatory in every vehicle and make the stationary roadside cameras not only follow average speed, but take pics if driver is talking on the phone or doing something he isn't supposed to be doing and DRASTICALLY increase the punishments for it. Talking on the phone while driving - at lest 6 months w/o a license + a substantial monetory fine starting from €5000. DUI - automatic jail time for at least 17 months + 36 months with no license and again insane fine starting from €50 000. Draconian measures some might say, but just sit back and watch how fast the accidents rates will drop. IT's not speed that causes accidents, it's lack of attention and the use of substances.
Only the capable sports/supercars/saloons etc. are the cars going fast. Everyone else probably isn’t exceeding 100mph & they have no choice but to stay out the way & be cautious or DIE literally.
then you have never driven on the Autobahn. Most of the time the station wagons are in the left lane and drive the fastest. And we have the "Rechtsfahrgebot" - you have to drive as far to the right as possible, only to overtake should you use the other lanes - the trucks drive on the far right. Most cars drive faster, so they overtake, which means most people drive in the middle. If you drive even faster, use the left lane, but if the middle is clear you have to move to the middle lane. And you are NEVER allowed to overtake on the right. So if someone is driving slowly in the left lane even though the middle is clear, you still aren't allowed to overtake on the right. You have to wait until they move over, which can sometimes be really annoying. but that's why it's also much safer, because of all these rules. You need a lot of hours to get your driver's license + theory lessons and a written test which isn't easy. At the end there is a practical test in which you drive for about an hour. Costs about 3-5k these days - but that's why all Germans can actually drive a car (and almost everyone can drive a manual transmission).
@@rampp17 I haven’t driven on the autobahn I was just making an assumption based on videos I have seen of performance cars on the autobahn. & what I would perceive would be going through people’s minds about making decision while driving on the autobahn.
There shud just be a speeding only lanes where ppl who want to speed can get on and ppl who driving normal can get a ticket driving slow in those lanes. if its 5 lanes 2 are for speeding and 3 are for normal.
I like that idea. It would definitely need 2 lanes minimum just to allow for passing & mitigation space. It could also work with existing highways the same way we have Car pool lanes, bike lanes, bus/truck lanes etc. We could just pass a bill that the furthest right lane is dedicated use for “x” amount of speed. Just has to be high enough that less capable slow cars aren’t able to take up space just using it as another lane or slightly faster oanet
08:50 first why USA deadly crashes 3 time more = traffic culture = in highway left line is only for passing. middle lane travel to long distances more then 150 km more then next city , firstlane is locl traffic and exit and enter lane + heavy load whom lowest speed is 70 km/ and fastest 130km/h . Middel lne lowest speed 110 km/h nd fastest 220 km/h and left lane passing lane lowest speed 190 km/h and fastest ..that speed what traffic and weather + Your skills and car take
Less accidents I think is a combination of the only drivers really driving fast are the ones with capable cars & the less capable ones not having a choice but to stay out the way or die. Some moms camry is not doing 180-200+mph & isn’t capable of braking or maneuvering like sports & supercars etc. so only the capable cars are really going fast & the slower drivers move out the way & it’s a harsher punishment for road rage because you WILL kill yourself & multiple people around you by brake checking or cutting someone off who you’re being petty with because they’re speeding.
Build a separate highway for High speed ONLY. Using a high speed road means you must have a more premium insurance and track day high speed experience. Possibly a small toll to use these roads, the toll could be used for upkeep where a barrier or part of the road is damaged and serious accident callouts.
One laane one direction speed limit 100km/h , two laane one direction I think is 160 km/h max speed normal, 3 lanes one direction max speed 250 km/h is enough .. to remeber wether too if quick thunder rain start then even 180km/h is dangerous a drive.

1:24. That silver sports car flying by was a Koenigsegg CC8S.
Only 6 examples of the CC8S were made in 2002 and 2003.
The price tag was 350 000 USD.
CC8S Specifications.
655 HP 4.7 Liter V8.
Top speed. 390 km/h (240 mph)
0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) under 3.5 seconds.
No speed limit is crazy.
just for a bit.
That's mental
I think putting a limit on the autobahn would drastically lower the amount of people who visit that part of Europe because some people see this as a tourist attraction
I live in Germany. The highway there is speed limit but people still drive fast. They are puting cameras on bridges when someone drives past the bridge it takes a picture.
That cutting up clip isnt on the autobahn , in Germany if you camp o n the left lane without passing anyone you can get finned so that traffic situation will never happen. This happens in most of European countries cuz we actually have to pay for our license and we value it way more than in the states
The fact that the autobahn has no speed limits at points and still is one of the safest highways in the planet just shows that good driving education its what really matters
@@waynepurcell6058 so you're saying that Americans are worse at driving because they drive more ?
Not all of the Autobahn has no speed limit but a good portion of it hasn't .
That`s the proof we Germans are just better drivers
The autobahn is like something out of need for speed
300 KPH sections should still be enough for most people
You don´t see formula cars on the Autobahn, that was a special occasion and they had to get a permit for that as well as driving in a convoy since formula cars aren´t street leagal. I remember that clip from 10 years ago or so.
Finland did not have speed limit outside urban aras up to end of 1972.
If ANYONE would have seen his licenseplate, he would most likely get charged with Jail time (there would be a few more charges like reckless driving and endangerment).
the F1 was not in germany
Germans know how to drive properly
Man we need us one of these in FL 😂
Most videos aren’t from the autobahn. Only a few portion of the autobahn has no speed limit
and that part where you were watching with the motorcyclist is only 100km/h (instead of 297km/h) #02:56
Everyone outside of Europe THINKS that you can go full throttle everywhere.......don't do that, many parts are 100 and 130km/h.
Knew it was going to be misleading as soon as I heard the usual "dark history" propagand bs lol.
@@rampp17 either way what you’ve described sounds like more disciplined driving behaviors & drivers actually follow what’s set to mitigate risk.
Klippet hvor der bliver bliver overhalet højre om, er fra USA. Og det er ulovligt i Tyskland.
Og de fleste klip med uheld, er fra andre lande.
Det er de færreste tyskere der kører så sindssygt.
10:29 Mercedes nd BMW mke sedns luxury and fst ...but they it self by factory but these crs comuter speed limit to car not reach not more then 250 km/h ( 156 mph ) . I think where are only two row one direction must speed limit 250 km/h .
One of the worst videos on TH-cam I hate it as a German 70% of the highways shown there are not German highways oh and the F1 formula car that wasn't Germany on the Polish side it just shows a political aspect to take away the Germans' freedom on the We can no longer approach unlimited sections as quickly as our vehicle can
