People get mad at Tayari for being jealous, but can you imagine if it were two human females caged with one male.. All the backstabbing and jealousy and competition with one another would be off the charts. Of course one would want to be his main squeeze.😘
Both Tayari and Iriki are jealous of each other. Both show up when the other is with Dj. And Dj punishes Tayari more often than he does Iriki. Dj will take food from Tayari but seldom takes from Iriki. When they exit the cave it's usually Dj, then Iriki w/ Ringo then Tayari w/ Jabali. And recently Iriki has been plucking hair from Jabali's head. I haven't seen her do this to Ringo. But maybe it's just not on video. I love all members of this gorilla family. Alot of love there. So I hope in time it will all work it's self out. Djeeco Family ❤️ 💯.
To me it appeared that when Iriki approached Tayari and Dj, Tayari moved close to Iriki. Then Iriki took the place next to Dj. Iriki started plucking the hair from Dj's arm and shoulder. That's when he touched her head. Like "please stop that". Of course Iriki continued the plucking. Serious problem.
Its a very bad problem. Food can help fix this. Keep her busy stop her from worrying. Will her son be her next food competition? Sad. They really need to help her. And p.s. don't grab my sister Lol doink.
Unfortunately a common thing, there are other females and males who pluck their hair too. There is a family who has the black conehead monkeys in with them and there is a female who is almost all the way bald and she is very skinny and lanky. She is the mom that has the baby with the bright red patch around his neck.Ill try to find it again.
Hair pulling ( trichotilomania) is a mental disorder. I hope zoo staff take notice of Iriki’s behavior. She needs help as it’s not normal behavior and might be related to the stress of a first time mom.

Apparently she has been doing this since she was a child. Stress doesn't help either..It is sad, it increased after Ringo was born.😘
