I'm always happy to point you in the right direction regarding questions about Adobe Captivate. You can purchase a one-hour one-on-one session with me at bit.ly/Cp1on1 if you need more than a simple question answered. If you only use some of that time, that's okay. You can bank any unused time (15-minute increments) for future sessions. For example, if you use 30 minutes, you can use 30 minutes later.
@@CaptivateTeacher Yes, but we use vBrick as a video management service--our workflow preference is to use embeds instead of inserting. No web object widget, either? (grasping at straws...)
Hi Paul, I'm just diving into the new Captivate now and it is a lot to digest! A couple questions for you (I'm not sure if you've already answered them in other videos!) - 1. What is your best recommendation for converting old captivate projects to the new format? 2. With event videos, is there a way to force navigation such as the next button doesn't appear until all the videos on the page/slide have been played? As always, your tutorials are super helpful! Thanks so much!
Unfortunately, there is no (presently) way to import an old Captivate project into the new Captivate. This is why Adobe has included Adobe Captivate Classic with the All-new Captivate for one price. If you want to time objects to coincide with the video, use a Slide video. I have a video about hiding the next button until a slide video has been completed.
@@CaptivateTeacher Thank you for the quick reply! I did see the slide video video but I was thinking more along the lines of how in the older version of Captivate, you could use rules and object states to allow a next button to show. For example, once all three videos have been clicked, the next button appears.
@@CaptivateTeacher Although there isn't a way to import an old project, what have you found to be the most successful way to update older content? Would you recommend trying to rebuild the projects in the new version or scratch the old projects and start new with completely new interactions? I'd love to see videos showing "this interaction is what I had in the older version and this is how I made a similar one in the new version", if that makes sense!
I think much would depend on the scope of the update. For example, if a client asked me to remove a slide from an old course where that content was no longer applicable I would work in Adobe Captivate Classic and get it done and republish. If there were major changes required I would consider rebuilding the course from scratch in the all-new Adobe Captivate.
I like to keep my SCORM package small for my LMS. I haven't seen a way to insert embed code for youtube or vimeo-hosted content? Only option is to provide the video URL... In the classic version I would use a web object...
It’s still available but some things have changed. I’m planning to do a video at some point. Make sure you subscribe and turn on notifications to be alerted when that video and others come out.
When I preview my project, the default screen shows a gray background with a play button in the middle. My client has asked if the gray background can be replaced with a more satisfying image. Is there any way to do that? Thanks Paul in advance.
@@CaptivateTeacher Thanks Paul, you're the best! I'll be contacting you soon on your other website and have you consult on the first module I'm working on. I should have a decent rough cut of it next week. Thanks again!
Is there any way to toggle Auto play on/off on slide videos? Or is using the other video block the only way to prohibit videos from starting automatically?
In this case, I think the video grid block would be best suited for this. Simply have one video that includes the scrub bar controls in the video playbar. Presently, there isn't a variable for frame numbers like there was in Classic.
I think each scenario might call for different situations. I like the video block option. It seems to give you more capabilities but perhaps I'm missing something.

You're welcome and thanks for watching. I appreciate your support.
video grid has the volume control, but is there any way to set a default volume (other than full volume)?
Not that I'm aware of.
TH-cam and Vimeo are the only two web video options; no other video embed code accepted? That's a problem. =>(
You can also embed a local video from your computer and it becomes part of your eLearning package.

@@williamnunes4719 stick with Captivate 11 for now until 12 has more feature parity.

Interesting idea. I will explore this and perhaps do a video on this. Probably need some JavaScript to get this to work.

So far there isn't a way to add web abjects in Captivate 12. You can add TH-cam and Vimeo videos using the video blocks.
Hi! What's happen with the "interactive video" option from 2019 version?

Hi Paul, how do you get rid of the black background around the video as the window resizes? Are there designOptions to do that?
So far you don't. Perhaps you can submit this as a feature request directly to Adobe. captivate.uservoice.com/forums/939318-adobe-captivate

You're welcome, Jim, and thanks for the question. It was an excellent idea for a video.
when i publish my final program, the video doesn't play. only plays when in preview/edit mode. Do you have a quick fix for this?

You could add a button to the slide that pauses the slide playback just before the video is to start.
@@CaptivateTeacher What about if I wanted to give learners the option to rewind slide video 5, 10, 15 seconds? Is that a button with a Java Script?
