I was visiting Copenhagen that weekend and listened the rehersal of this song in the morning... I was instantly hooked up by the beat and melody and can't stop playing it even if I don't understand a word of it :)
the lyrics are an old poem by Norwegian writer Nordahl Grieg called Til Ungdommen ("To The Youth", but also known as "Kringsatt av Fiender" ("Surrounded By Enemies") as that is the first line of the poem and song), warning against the looming threat of nazism (it was published in the 1930s), then later it was set to melody by a Danish composer whose name escapes me at the moment. It carries an strong anti-war and anti-fascism message, so of course is (sadly) appropriate for Ukraine's current situation as well with the invasion by Ruzzia Perhaps the most famous version of it is by the late great Danish singer Kim Larsen, so check out one of his recordings of the song as well :)
It's a such a beautiful Norwegian song, singing it in Copenhagen really underlines our special relationship. If countries could have brothers Norway would be ours.

Skjending!
Ivan?
