Fantastic how he can expres his feelings just throught the guitar like that. I'm really impressed, the dynamic, expression, structure, everything matches.
Kotaro Oshio is an amazing player. He attacks the strings yet still maintain the clean composition of the song. This is fingerstyle at a new level in japanese melodies.
Ten years since I started to learn this song.... Still the best rendition of Kotaro so far, was absolutely perfect, in time, with that amazing intro... Tears in my eyes.
@@Mephisto_D_Munyo I can't lie, I don't even remember making this comment in 2016 and I have no idea who this artist is lmao. But they're really good actually!
Totally agree with you Rylynn is best his song so far imho... And Kotaro Oshio is so soulful guitar player. I have never see someone like him. With so deep and in the same time touching music.
Same here. McKee, Emmanuel or Leeb are virtuoso guitarists, but Kotaro is a genious composer and a genious guitarist. His technique serve the music, and his pieces are build like classic good songs.
Andy Mckee - Quite progressive in style, plays pieces with complicated movements, which gives the listeners less memory of the song itself. Tommy Emmanuel - Very wide genre, highly skilled in playing scales and riffs, and has a very strong stage presence. Though sometimes he plays songs too fast that some notes tend to mute. Kotaro Oshio - the only guitarist I know who has fully mastered the nail attack. The best composer of the three. Maintains simplicity without compromising emotion and soul.
Wow, an amazing guitarist, an amazing piece, kotaro oshio is a unique artist, and i love his music :D The way he plays his guitar with such feeling is just...inspiring...
I prefer this (old) version to the 10 year anniversary version. Have played both, despite the 10 year version being more complicated, this version feels more in musical melody.
I definitely agree, as amazing as Andy McKee and Tommy are, I personally feel Andy's music doesn't have the same type of soul and Tommy's music is just nice, but Kotaro combines skill, technique and heart in all his pieces.
@haw002 Yeah. At their levels, it's not about guitar techniques, but more about how the song sound. Kotaro Oshio leads with his melodies. He is a melody maker ! !
You are most probably right. A lot of the Sungha stuff has been hyped up. I find the difference between Sungha and other kids his age is that he has been marketed very well and therefore gets to meet many talented artists older than himself. Making these connections at such a young age will allow him to easily become a professional musician should he choose that path and make it much easier for him to be successful.
Wow... The best live version of Tension... I just finished practicing Hard Rain... But this song is harder for me because it contains a lot of nail attack, which is very hard to master. Isn't Kotaro a god or something to compose songs like this???
Ha thats people In America bro, I'm in New Zealand and we worship every guitarist on here: Erik MOngrain, Andy,Antoine,Carlos Vamos, Erick Turnbull, Kotaro. Sure, we aint a big country but we got a lot of faith in them and we by their cds :)
Haha alright man, finally found someone who shares the same sentiments as me(: The only song of McKee so far that I fee has soul is Rylynn. That is seriously one touching instrumental.
@goldyplee 1. You should never compare a cover to an original work anyways. 2. I'm pretty sure he's thirteen. And though he's a great guitarist and definitely going places, how he compares to other amazing and experienced guitarists should not even be debated.
Personally, I feel he is better than Andy Mckee, Tommy Emmanuel and all the other great fingerstyle guitarists, in overall terms of feeling and technique. Don't get me wrong, they are amazing guitarists too, but Kotaro Oshio is just.. unique.
err Tommy is not fingerstyle guitarist, usually at least. acoustic guitarist is right though. Anyway, I find Kotaro being the "soft" guitarist out of the "Big Four"-Dufour,McKee,Ross,Kotaro (that term's from metal lol) the other 3 mostly play faster, more aggressive stuff than him. That's what I think. =)
I think it's a shame that so many comments on the "original" versions/vids/songs of songs that Sungha has covered are about him vs the original and becomes a discussion about how good sungha is vs the author or what his talent level is. Please take that shit somewhere else. It's getting really god damn old.
Why don't you get in a studio, record your videos and produce tabs just like Candyrat in Canada. There is money to be made in this and everyone can buy them and this will increase your profile in the world.Amazing song.
Different influences. Kotaro's songs have stronger melodies, but he's also way more pop-influenced than McKee, whose melodies are sometimes drowned under the overall complexity and texture of his songs. Though McKee's had flashes of melodic brilliance before too; Rylynn and Art of Motion come to mind. He's moved away from that style in recent times though.
After almost 20 years this still is my favorite Kotaro Oshio song. Too bad it seems like he doesn't play it anymore.
Fantastic how he can expres his feelings just throught the guitar like that.
I'm really impressed, the dynamic, expression, structure, everything matches.

Absolutely perfect???? OMG:/
S'deeper issues.
After years this song continues to move me inside, it's just a beautiful piece of music.
This is now one of my favourite listens, talented composition.
One of the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard. Still amaze me after years.
I never understood figerstyle, ONE man with ONE instrument can stir the passions of the crowd as much as a band or orchestra. Its amazing.
One of the best finger style songs. Hands down
Oshio Kotaro's a GENIUS =D
Kotaro will always be my source of inspiration.
It's already been ten years...? Damn, time flies.
Yes, time flies.
Now 13 years 🤣

Man, this version just goes to untouchable level with how perfect the emphasis is on every string being struck.

The most beautiful fingerstyle song i heard. Kotaro Oshio rulez.
His compositions, his guitar techniques and his SHIRTS are amazing !

Amazing and beautiful!!
Instead of being compared, why do not appreciate what the guitarists play? So simple!
Yeah, Kotaro is a great dude)
Awesome. I really like this guy.
this is one inspiring masterpiece!
forget favorite artist, hes my hero ^^
Hermoso, mùsica para soñar!!!.

I like the way it alternates between rhythmic speed and sadness at the same time.

try "Wings _ you are the hero" then try "Tension", that would be much more easier for you then :')
CreepyOverlord That White Cloud of the Summer and Oasis are two awesome songs as well. feel very satisfying to play

so beautiful
Kotaro seems to be very tall. I watched his live show and most audience are around his shoulder high
he 183cm
@tiempolegend they play completely different music, so its not right to compare in my opinion.
ANYONE AT 2020???
my love
Why doesn't all people love this? I can't understand... ergh people... stop liking bad things.
this guy kicks ass. no matter what anyone says its still amazing
왕ㅋ굿ㅋ
I agree. I feel like he's got a much more musical approach with his compositions compared to people like Andy Mckee...

4 PEOPLE, more than being jealous of his technique or composing, are jealous that he can wear AWFUL SHIRTS and still look GOOD & COOL.
people it is shame to compare Sungha with world-class guitarists. Sungha is only 13or14 give him some credit!
