    The production for this ceremony was very different because of Covid. Considering the restrictions that were active at the time, they created something pretty memorable.

    “Yes.”

    From what I remember, they legit built their own miniature Zaun for the World's ceremony and people could just... walk through Zaun for a while. Now, Covid was still kicking around everyone trying to gather en-masse, but this time, at least in my opinion, they worked very well around it. Yeah it's still not the same HYPE that the audience brought in 2017-2019, but as a viewer from home watching this cool cinematic it was still dope and a made me hype for the finals.
    "...disconnected from the crowd." -> What crowd?

    Funfact, arcane launched a few hours later after the finals

    You can watch "Making worlds 2021 Opening Ceremony" and see all the problems and why opening ceremony is like that. Actually, I think they made an actual great job! Everything is perfect and I was really excited when I watched that live!
    P.S. about players: they are staying serious because they've could play the match of their life this day. Winning a worlds championship is not a daily routine, you know

      @donmowatt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea will be checking out that behind the scenes.
      I disagree with the reasoning - i've watched tons of world championships and there's plenty of excited players - this is a cultural thing - it's just kind of funny to me to be so 1000 mile stare during exciting moments.

      @@donmowatt I think you're right about it being a cultural thing. Asian/eastern players in general just tend to have a more serious approach to that stuff in terms of image (I mean I assume they are instructed to be this way, also). You see the difference in the 2019 ceremony when they introduce the teams as well. In some moments it's part of the "production's plan" to have them stare and create somewhat artificial moments to include in montages and stuff like that :D

      @@donmowatt no wonder why the west can't even win any world trophy against asian players. Because they don't take it seriously. They're L even with shooting games where they're actually good at- "guns".

    Dude the crowds are seeing what you are seeing, the ceremony was virtual. Because of the Pandemic lockdown the only people actually filmed together were the bands and production crews on their sets, and the players and their production crews on the competition set.

    As others have pointed out, gotta keep the context in mind - covid was at its absolute peak and its most uncertain in 2021, and that's following a disappointing 2020 ceremony that they had to change in the last months leading up to the ceremony after a huge preparation time had already gone into it. They played it a bit safe while delivering what is imho a memorable ceremony with this mix of cgi and real stuff. I missed the live performances too and it was a shame not to hear any crowd or anything really, but I understand the choice, and they could not have done it another way in that year sadly.
    2022 goes back to live stuff, you should enjoy it! After having watched the ceremony from the audience perspective though, I think the live broadcast doesn't do it justice (though it's still amazing imho). Might consider watching one of those on YT on your own if you'd like :D Thanks for your reaction! Always enjoyable, and I LOVE the honesty!!!! Too many youtubers just "ride the wave" to please fans and get them to keep watching their reactions. You are honest. Please keep that.

    I can`t count how many times I have posted this but, here we go again:
    How people felt about Jinx before "Arcane": "Who`s this crazy blue haired, pink eyed Harley Quinn looking chick?"
    How people feel after Jinx post-"Arcane": "My poor baby Powder, please let me save you!"

    They couldn’t do a live ceremony because of Covid restrictions and after how poor 2020’s one went they did a purely online ceremony this time.

    It's "pandemic" and the stage set has limited-none number of people. They even revise the way how they gonna showcase worlds ceremony, like the 'Burn it down' performance, instead of pitch dark, it should've been a fiery set.
