The irony is it is very difficult to get this necessary advice about the most basic things that need to be done at different stages of growth even from the nursery. If you are asking about the seed stage, I keep my seed tray in a bright shed like room in my backyard until the seedlings sprout. As soon as they pop out, I move them outside in indirect sunlight or 3-4 hours of direct early morning sunlight. If you have a sunny room, that will work too (way better than grow lights). Just can't get my seeds to germinate - only difference is I'm using potting mix instead of seed starting mix - does that really make a big difference?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  ปีที่แล้ว

      Potting mix sometimes contains fungi and mold which kills seeds. That might be the problem. Also, you can soak seeds in water overnight to help germination. Hope this helps and thank for getting in touch!

    • @TowardGarden

      Cilantro grow best in cool weather. Start in early spring and make successive sowings every few weeks until summer heat comes on strong. Sow again in cooler fall weather, especially in mild winter areas. If you are in southeast asia, you can try varieties that are native to that area such as Vietnamese Bac Lieu Cilantro. happy growing and thank you for visiting.

    You said water soulable high nitrogen fertilzer.....actually which fertilizer i can use?? Or what subsititute we can use naturally??

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use any water soluble fertilizer that has high number of nitrogen (N) in NPK ration, such as 5-1-1. One of the best natural water soluble fertilizers is Fish Emulsion or Fish fertilizer. Another good option is Alfalfa meal. You can add it to the soil, or let it sit in water and make tea and feed plants. I have both of them listed om my amazon page: www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-3dd9a3b6/list/3OOR0YYL58Y0Z?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d . And if you want to keep your cilantro for a longer time, just add chicken manure to the soil. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting!

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends how deep. The depth I mentioned is not exact and you can have margins. But if the seed is planted too deep, most probably it won't germinate. Every seed has a depth specific to the variety and if you plant the seeds too deep or too shallow, it will struggle to germinate. Mostly, if it is too deep, it will rot. Husbands are like that, my wife says the same thing 😄 Thanks for visiting.

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      For a continues harvest, you want to sow seeds every few weeks so by the time one has done producing fresh leaves, the new ones catch up and you have a fresh harvest. The seed packets usually have enough seeds to sow several times. But if you want to collect seeds, let the plant go to bolting (flowering) and once flowers get to seed stage you can collect them. This might take several weeks and is often at the end of the growing season. Thanks for visiting.
