    I can now make an on-speed landing! Thanks again for the help! I built a pretty good setup for my controls as well. Makes all the difference having a solid ergonomic setup for vr.

    Now you could land like that Straight in no drama. Or you could come in to hot get 2/3 down the runway & go oh fuck to fast no worries I’ve got this turn on NWS just before the piano keys hard left punch the throttles into after burner 180 the jet all good. 😜 Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃

    So are you using the E bracket and velocity vector when landing on a Carrier? How does that work with the meatball?
    Like the Aussie livery. Cheers.

    • @TorniQuetHD
      @TorniQuetHD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once you’re trimmed to on speed you use throttle to maintain the yellow ball in between the green datum lines as you roll into the groove for the carrier landing. If the ball is below the lines you need to add power to increase your lift and nose position, if it is above the lines you need to reduce power to decrease lift and nose position. It’s a constant dance on the throttles to land, always moving forward and back to adjust aircraft position on final approach to the deck

  • @erfguuipo8084
    @erfguuipo8084 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My pilot friend did not like me constantly moving the throttle. The pilot says I should adjust, wait, then adjust rather then up down up down on the throttle like a mad man lol. But they fly commercial so idk if their concept applies to this jet.

    I hate on air aoa. 90 rpm the plane goes slightly up. 89 rpm the plane goes down . Lol just 1, I have to adjust like 1milimeter on the throttle. It's crazy

    • @TorniQuetHD
      @TorniQuetHD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Practice practice mate, throttles never sit still when your flying onspeed or formation flying, they are always moving forward and backwards all the time

  • @LordRoxy
    @LordRoxy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So thats exactly what I would expect to happen. However, landing is troublesome (the last week) in that the velocity vector is way off to the right or left and if you cage the hud you still hit the runway at an angle. Has something changed?

    • @TorniQuetHD
      @TorniQuetHD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you’ve got a crosswind in the mission mate, check the ME for any wind.

    • @LordRoxy
      @LordRoxy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the prompt help. I did think of that then discounted it as the wind was only 10knots. However after you mentioned it, it did indeed sort out the problem. But as there is usually wind I guess I need to practice with wind set in the mission. One further question though; how do you control wind on instant action? I guess not; you have to take account of it I guess!

    • @TorniQuetHD
      @TorniQuetHD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LordRoxy yeah instant action you have no control of the wind or weather at all unfortunately. Landing at half flap may help reduce drag with the crosswind also but you will have a higher landing speed due to less lift on the airframe… see what works best for you mate, but offsetting left or right so the crosswind pushes you towards centreline is best practice

    • @LordRoxy
      @LordRoxy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks again for the very prompt reply. I think that until recently I created my practice missions without weather and because I added weather to this last one I noticed the difference both on takeoff and landing. It’s of course a learning curve and I will focus on the wind and managing it for now before I move on. Once again ‘mate’ helpful and prompt feedback. Cheers.

    • @TorniQuetHD
      @TorniQuetHD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s best practice to try and make the wind as little of crosswind as possible especially when doing carrier landings but landing on crosswinds is tricky I 100% agree. I had to do a psycho crosswind landing in the new raven one dominant fury campaign series I’m currently in the process of recording now… hectic haha

    • @TorniQuetHD

      For airfields that don’t have TACAN you have to radio the ATC and they will tell you a vector to fly to get within visual of it so you can land

      @@TorniQuetHD Question: Am I correct in my understanding that you should only trim for ‘speed on AoA’ ONLY after you have slowed your aircraft to landing speed? And, how precise does this need to be? What might be reasonable practical upper lower speed limits for trimming if, say, desired lamding speed was 150knts? Cheers

    • @TorniQuetHD
      @TorniQuetHD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When the aircraft gets to around 150kts it will be more stable and easier to trim to on speed for sure. Just hand fly it straight and level until it gets close to 150 and then start trimming it out from there 👌🏻

    Question , did u use the airbreaks all the way in to land? If not my other question is, can u use the airbreaks to slow u down once u hit the runway? Or best to just use the wheel breaks? Im new and want to learn!

    • @TorniQuetHD
      @TorniQuetHD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Airbrakes will auto close when gear comes down but you can hold them manually open if you’d like to. I don’t use speed brake once I’m trimmed for onspeed.
      As for slowing down on the runway, there is a little trick with the throttles… when you touch down and have weight on wheels give the throttles a little bump forward and then back to full idle as it sometimes gets stuck in flight idle RPM which is about 75% instead of the 65% ground idle. You will slow down a lot faster with 10% less throttle 👌🏻
