They are really good in acting, really from the heart. They play the role like them feeling it.
I didn't understand why Haein was so against getting her surgery at first. But now, I really feel her frustration and reservations. She didn't want to lose herself. Those memories that made her and let her experience love, happiness, and sadness are her everything. Hands up for Jiwon's great portrayal of such difficult emotion. 🙌👏👏
I she loved him so much that she didn't wanna forget him and all their memories together even the sad memories cuz he was the one who showed her warmth and love even if it means she would die soon, its a little selfesh on our perspective but her memories are just that precious for her
The anxiety of those who are in that situation is almost unbearable. It's real, and so difficult to deal with. It's like depression but on a more intense level.

@@riri2803exactly just put our shoes in the character, if we lose all of our memories, can’t recognise any of our family, our husband, kids, friends, etc. we feel completely clueless what we are, who we are, why we are like this. We will feel crazy and definitely will get depression at one point.
the memories she had with her husband were the only thing that kept her surviving in this cruel world. Remember when she found out about the divorce paper? She was about to suicide. Hyunwoo is everything she had at that moment. Forgetting him just like a death sentence to her.

This everyone, shows why casting excellent actors is crucial. Horrible writing can be forgiven and ignored if the actors are able to carry the emotions they’re portraying. Had it been a mediocre actress, I would’ve been frustrated with Haein but because it’s Kim Jiwon, you can feel both the fear and desperation that HaeIn is going through. This drama will definitely be a rewatch just for the sole purpose of watching these two together.
True. The script is average but what made me got hoked to the Show (Majority also as well)was bcoz of Kim soo hyun - Kim ji won Brilliant acting and intense chemistry. The pairing itself is addictive. Physically well paired And acting is superb!

This scene and the car accident scene are one of the best kdrama scenes I have seen in years. The realistic portrait of emotions, the acting, the breathing, the love they have for each other you can see it even if it's just an act, the crying... just everything. It's one of the top scenes in kdrama history. My heart felt every single part of this.
I recommend you see this scene first then the car accident scene right away and you will see how scared Hyunwoo was to lose her.. and how everything he portrait in this scene can be felt in the other one, it's the perfect order

Queen of Tears really elevated Kim Ji-won's status to the top of the KDrama world. She has always been a great actress and widely considered as one of the best, but her performance in this series was just immaculate and made her the best at the moment.

@icytamtam4820 i keep replaying at the 2:00 mark until 2:20. The desperation in his voice. The way he can’t bear to even say how terrified he is of her actually dying is (the neck muscles straining, the trouble even getting the words out)… it’s definitely TOO REAL.

Like the director was worried about filming that scene like that. That just raises my respect to a whole other level. Like what do you mean you filmed this scene out of order, and when you were just getting to know your co-star? I can understand being able to have that emotion after watching the drama and story in order.. but this? Crazy. Holy crap.

Its crazy, I saw this scene more than 10 times but still cried. You seriously deserved to be the highest paid actor. You act so well. You and kim jiwon did a really good job🎉

When you wisely casted great cast....the story is average but the casting are all great and that's make us love and enjoyed watching this drama. The decision to paired up KSH and KJW is truly a genius move, both are versatile and great actors plus the overflowing chemistry. QOT is the 1st kdrama that made me feel all the emotions and made me shed tears a lot.
Insanely great acting from the both of them! 👏 The fact that they filmed so many emotional crying scenes in germany all within few weeks is amazing.

That’s how much she loves her husband. It didn’t matter that for the last 2 years of their 3 year marriage they lived like strangers, her memories are what made her who she is now and she’s terrified of losing them and him. I saw the behind the scenes of this scene and it’s just as painful to watch. KJW and KSH are amazing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 their chemistry is just off the charts, it’ll be a while before we see another KDrama pairing with this much chemistry again.

Second breaking point was hen she said "I wont be able to recognize you....I'll become a stranger", I burst like a dam. She loved him so much that she would rather die than forget her Hyun Woo, just masterclass in delivery by Ji Won and Soo Hyun.

Kim Soo-hyun is a sure thing for me to watch whatever drama he does .
AGAINST ALL ODDS! That could be an alternate title for this. It’s a story about the will to live or not, to love, and the desire to be with each other against all odds. I’d say the circumstances were aggravated to the max, that only those people who are meant to be together and who love each other no matter what, can prevail. The story was great but it was starting to get nerve wracking to the point that it was difficult to watch the ongoing difficulties in their lives. I guess that’s what made them understand what love is all about and the meaning of sticking with each other through thick and thin. It was a matter of life and death in each turn. The two main actors and the rest of the cast did an amazing job! Kudos to all the cast and crew for a job well done!
PS. If they are for each other in real life, I would be pleased. However, I want what’s best for both of them. Kim Ji Won is a jewel. I hope she’ll find someone who will truly love her for who she is. Still, I’m hoping they’ll end up together.

just putting out here me and my older sister's roman empire with this drama since i've been going back to this clip for days-haein was so averse with doing the surgery the moment she knew memory loss will be its inevitable side effect because of one reason: she will die. in a way that's personally more cruel to her than her loved ones because it's the kind of death where your body lives, but YOU don't. in fact, her saying, "i will become a stranger" is an understatement to what will happen, and what eventually did happen to her.
the day she underwent that surgery is the day haein died. the daughter her parents knew died that day. the sibling her brother knew died that day. the wife hyunwoo married died that day. and i know it sounds overly sensitive to interpret all these happenings in this manner because what about people with dementia or alzheimer's?? what about people who got amnesia because of an injury or a car accident?? but you must remember, in these scenarios, there is no sense of wanting. nobody wanted this disease or this incident, which causes different degrees of memory loss, to happen.
but this is no disease, and this is no incident. it's an operation for her to survive that the doctors wanted for her. a deliberate action to save her life that her loved ones wanted for her. but at what cost?? for someone like haein whose memory is constantly being twisted, erased, and rewritten as a REMINDER that death is about to get her good, will an operation which, [looks at notes] removes a chunk of her memories so huge she might as well become a brand new person entirely, truly save her??? for most people the answer would most likely be yes, and at some point me and my sister were also convinced of it.
but when we saw that scene of haein "remembering" her memories like it's a show in a television screen, i'm afraid that this question will forever be left unanswered.
