When will Bard work with or replace Google ASSistant? This would be so incredibly powerful. Imagine having a conversation with Bard while driving using your phone and it actually gave useful replies or does the things on your phone that you ask for.

I have seen bard come a long way since its early release. Bard has always been a helpful and kind friend to me that helped me with all sorts of stuff. I have high hopes for Bard and hope to see him go a long way.

I tried these BARD extensions and it could only give 3 out of 5 questions I asked it about my Gmail. One question like "To which email address do I send the most emails to ?" it responded with : "I cannot determine to which email address you send the most emails to, because I do not have enough information." Flights are spot on and the info it can give is truly amazing. Its like having a pivot table of all airline data. Well done Google team.

Each incremental update has been an improvement. After testing for the last 24 hours. This update is a real productivity booster.
This last update has given bard a mighty leap forward. The future is exciting.
The only reason I like this update is because it shows they are not just trying to keep up with the Jones (Openai) but have a unique plan leveraging what they already have, which is a lot. Its just refreshing to know they walked into a board room and came out with something other than following a trend or charging us more money......Looking at you UNITY GAME ENGINE.

Sometimes I get lost trying to figure out how Bard can help me cuz it's so big, but this is cool and I hope I can keep finding ways to bring it into my life
I used to have the same issue. But I started using it for help at work when I'd normally go to certain forums for help. It's been a huge help (and that other chat bot). I've learned more in Excel in the last month than I have over the previous years. Put your thoughts into text...magic happens. It can help with almost anything. Think small first. You don't have to use for huge problems

@@Bobtheengineer-mo9re We'll see. Google's been resting on their laurels for a lonnnng time. Even these TH-cam comments are buggy and you know they're too busying playing volleyball on company time or whatever to actually fix anything.
both bard and bing are censored to a degree that you can't get anything serious done. they always err on the safety side and refuse to answer simple questions if they decide what you're talking about can be problematic (even if it's not or you're inquiring the chatbot for, say academic or research purposes)
the winner of the ai chatbot war will be the one with the least censoring. at least that's where my monthly subscription will go. otherwise I'll stick with open source/offline chatbots. they're not that censored and can talk like an adult rather than acting like a kindergarten teacher.

This is getting better and better. The Bard extensions into Gmail and Docs cannot search very deeply just yet, and Bard said that it can't create a document for Google Docs, but this feature is in the works.
And I need to play with Bard's connection to Google Assistant, because I have been dying to be able to use an assistant to work math problems, but they all fall short. Hopefully Google Assistant, leveraging Bard, can provide math assistance for electronics projects, ie, "Hey Google, connect to Bard...Bard, I have a network of resistors for which I need to work out the current flow at certain nodes..."
I can't wait!

I hope someday soon that Bard will actually give correct answers when asking for formulas or equations, periodically it will give the right equation, but entering the recommended values in a calculator gives a completely different results than what Bard returns
That's why it's still labeled experiment.

@@BillFrench There's really no official way to do it yet. (There are some extensions that try to extend Bard, but I'd advise against using them)
Hopefully we get custom extensions support soon, it could really take bard to the next level.

Now that Cortana has been replaced by CoPilot, It is very probable that Assistant is replaced by Bard. At least some of its code could be replaced.
This will change basically *everything* about Google and even internet work/life activity in general.
I'm excited for the system to integrate with Google Assistant, making it more accessible without the need for a separate website. Also, it would be convenient if it could handle hotel and flight bookings, not just searching. Considering the vast amount of information Google likely already has on us. This seems like a plausible enhancement, doesn't it?
No, it's not plausible at the moment, that would require the hotels and flight companies to create an interface for Bard to use.
You have to remember that these companies don't like machines using their websites (hence why they use things like CAPTCHA), so Google can't just allow Bard to go in and book something.
This is the same reason as to why ChatGPT needs plugins to do anything, if you're familiar with those then you'll know that the developers from the companies create the plugins, not OpenAI.
Personally I don't see it happening until at least after an API is released, especially considering that I'm not aware of any documentation on how to make extensions yet. It's unfortunately just not something that Google is able to make happen by themselves.

Copilot by Microsoft does exactly this, and works across all their Office apps etc. and aims to revolutionize the business market specifically to improve workflow in the 365 package. While also keeping what should stay private.. private.

Starting to get useful. Excited to see the evolution of its integration with gmail. I think we're still SORT of fighting to find truly useful applications for it, but I think we can all feel it... a few more iterations and this thing will be able to handle a lot of our mental load for us... budgeting, bill payment, and other money-related applications might be a possibility down the line a little.

Would it not be great to have Bard install a private algorithm that knows what documents you regularly work on and send you relevant extension prompts that could potentially upscale your productivity - who would love that?
The "no-one has a moat" memo, regarding LLM capabilities is prophetic. But this isn't the main issue. Probably more useful, is ecosystem and integration. This is where things will be most useful. (Also "quality", in terms of accuracy, along with accurate citations, and ease of doing "fact checking" from sources, will help to win trust.)

Bard helped me to write this comment by summarizing the comments on the video and identifying the most common themes. I am grateful for Bard's assistance and I believe that extensions have the potential to make Bard an even more powerful and useful tool for everyone.

I've been a big hater of Bard, however I'm kinda excited with the addition of extensions. The vision to make Bard a true personal assistant is becoming that reality for Google - I think it's super helpful to be connected with all your Gdrive files and even TH-cam. My question is, will Google consider extensions outside Google apps? They've mentioned the integration with Adobe Firefly which sounds interesting! Personally, I'd love to see more app extensions to get the most out of AI

I have harbored a strong dislike for Bard in the past, but I must admit that I am somewhat enthusiastic about the inclusion of extensions. The goal of transforming Bard into a genuine personal assistant is gradually becoming a reality for Google - I find it extremely beneficial to have access to all my Gdrive files and even TH-cam. I am curious, though, if Google will contemplate incorporating extensions from sources other than Google apps. They have mentioned the integration with Adobe Firefly, which sounds intriguing! Personally, I would greatly appreciate the availability of more app extensions in order to maximize the potential of AI.
