I find it adorable that the Pikachu smash alternate skins are mostly Pikachu wearing the hat of the male protagonist from each region. Pikachu is super cute in hats and I like the references that were made.
Honestly, it feels wrong to call these "wrong" shinies. Perhaps "unusual shinies" would be a better way to word it, don't you think? Also, for the alternate colors in Pokken, I wouldn't even call those shinies because the Pokemon aren't even those colors. As can be seen when they're sent out, the 2nd player uses a normal version of that Pokemon, which then has alternate colors projection mapped onto their bodies using what must to some form of futuristic hologram technology. This is also something clearly made for the sake of the Pokken league, as all of them have a red, blue, and green stripe along their body to indicate that they're battling with Pokken colors
The Orange Islands part of the anime ended before Pokemon Gold & Silver released. So the mother Lapras, Pinkun Island, and Valencia Island pokemon, were all featured in the anime before shiny Pokemon existed in the games, just like the Pink Butterfree. You can check and see the original air dates of the Anime episode in Japan, and compare that to the Japanese release date of Gold & Silver.
Actually, the reason they didn't use the shiny colorations in Pokken Tournament is because they have a lore reason for the color change. That little striped sweatband is what causes the color change, and they even have an animation/light flash at the start of the match to show them switch colors.
TBH that different Butterfree in the Orange Islands seems more like a regional variant than a shiny form... especially since literally ALL the Butterfree were like that there.
I wish they would add some of the Magikarp Jump variations to the game, as alternate variants of normal Magikarp (like how Floette has different colored flowers). Some of the designs are really cool.
The pinkan Island pokémon are understandable as it's possible in real life. Pink flamingos are born with white feathers but due to their diets of pink krill and other such things, their feathers change color as they age. The pinkan berries are doing the same thing with the pokémon.
I believe that the Zygarde core's hexagons were meant to match up with the colours on 100% form's chest, so there would be five different cores; red, blue, orange, purple and white. But I guess they gave up on that...
Violet is between blue and purple on the colour spectrum. Though I doubt that they’re very specific about the ‘violet’ shade they use, it’s probably just a random purple shade. The same way as taking a random yellow shade and calling it ‘sunshine’.

And Violet has wavelengths therefore is an actual color on its own. Purple can only be made by mixing red and blue.

When it comes to different patterns like on Butterfree's wings and Vileplume's petals, I like to think of them as regional forms. Especially since ALL the Butterfree in that area looked like that. As for all the others, I'd love to see them do a second shiny color in the future. Instead of two different types of sparkles (stars vs squares in Sword and Shield), I'd really love to see a second actual shiny, so you could for example find a regular Charizard, a black Charizard or a purple Charizard. Perhaps a regular Gengar, the barely noticeable shiny Gengar we know now, or a white Gengar, etc. They could be the real super rare "ultra shinies" that people have been calling their square shinies, lol.

I feel like the Lapras, Zygarde, and Toxapex coloring was to signify the difference between males/females, age, or just mutations in species. The Passimian thing with them having red and yellow spots could be shown to make them seem tougher than normal Passimian. And the Kekleon’s green colors being changed in newer media is just colors intentionally being changed. For example, in One Piece, Robin was originally supposed to have paler skin, but that never happened until the middle of the story.
Another thing about Smash's alternate colors is that they are also meant to be nods to different aspects of that specific character's franchise. Whether it's other games in the series or different characters

I think I may have solved the pokemon colour change... in the orange archipelago there was an episode called Pinkan Island where pokemon turned pink based on the food that they ate. Although it doesn't explain every colour change but could be that there are some fruits that turn pokemon to different colours temporarily and fade slowly when they stop eating it, kinda like the flamingo and some pokemon base colour might affect the colour change of the specific food
I just thought these different colored pokemon were purposefully not shiny and just a different color to help the younger viewers keep track of which pokemon is which when that was very important

Regarding Shiny Butterfree: Gen 2 sprites always include black as one of the four colors and Butterfree's body is black, so I assume that's why they made the wings pink instead.
I'll consider them Regional Variants because if anyone noticed in the Genesect movie, a pokemon Black and White movie, Mega Mewtwo Y is present even though Mega Evolution wasn't created until XY....

Wrong shiny is mis breed so basically the Pokémon equivalent of someone who is blind or don’t have a toe.

Funny story about the green crystal Deoxys, I had the movie before I got to the Delta Episode of OrAs, and when I found out I could catch Deoxys, I tried for MONTHS to get the green crystal Deoxys from the movie, thinking I could find the regular Deoxys’ friend so it wouldn’t be lonley 😅
I think I may have solved the pokemon colour change... in the orange archipelago there was an episode called Pinkan Island where pokemon turned pink based on the food that they ate. Although it doesn't explain every colour change but could be that there are some fruits that turn pokemon to different colours temporarily and fade slowly when they stop eating it, kinda like the flamingo and some pokemon base colour might affect the colour change of the specific food

I just thought these different colored pokemon were purposefully not shiny and just a different color to help the younger viewers keep track of which pokemon is which when that was very important

Regarding Shiny Butterfree: Gen 2 sprites always include black as one of the four colors and Butterfree's body is black, so I assume that's why they made the wings pink instead.

White ( and black) are shades, not colours. White alone has an estimated 500 various shades of white. How do you differentiate between them otherwise?

id say the snorlax just has frost on it, since articuno's shiny is pale blue, like that, and articunos wings are made of ice.
Personally, I think the "Wrong Shiny" stuff should be inspiring a feature, like some sort of a Fashion Shop, where players should be able to change their Pokémon colors, if one so desires, to a certain cost. Though I know nor TPC nor Game Freak would allow players to have any creative input, so...
