I wanted to figure out what makes Hezi god’s hesitation so good. After carefully analyzing his game and hesi, I’ve determined why it works so well.
First, he has a great pull up jumper that you have to contest. This means you have to play up on him and react quickly to him gathering the ball in order to put a hand up.
Second, Hezi expertly places his hand on the underside of the ball when he does a hesi. This makes the ball actually rest in his hand, and that gives the appearance of Hezi actually picking up the ball. The defender is helpless to pause and prepare to contest a shot. When Hezi sees the pause, he takes the chance to continue his dribble with a strong move to the basket. What’s more is Hezi can read the defender’s option. If they don’t pause or step up on the hesi then Hezi can actually just continue gathering up the ball for a jumper.
In conclusion, Hezi’s hesi is so damn good because he carries the ball. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.
