Jay, I think you need to enable g-sync by clicking on the third option "Enable setting for the selected display model" ,, otherwise, it's not going to work if the monitor is not compatible. and LG is not compatible yet.
@@EcoAcid, most people prefer VA panels for gaming over IPS. VA is faster than IPS, like a TN panel, but has the color and viewing angles of an IPS but with better contrast. So take this with a grain of salt as this is my first "gaming" monitor type of deal. However, i got the 32" for $350 from microcenter and I love it. It feels like an amazing value at that price point, and I've now converted 3 grown ass lifetime console gamers with a mix of the monitor and PC performance. I've got 1486 hours on mine at the time of this writing and I've got no complaints. If you have any specific questions, I can try to answer them, but obviously lots of things are subjective. Edit: ok. I dont like the red accents, that's my only real gripe. An optional little black attachment to cover the red on the legs or something similar would be amazing, I'm probably going to end up using a damn sharpie.
2:40 ehm.... was the frame rate below 144? because otherwise g-sync was not active at all on that monitor. ;-) If that monitor has a refresh rate overlay, then I'd activate that so that you can see G-Sync working (or not working).
I recently purchased an LG 32” 850 series freesync monitor and love it. 144Hz and HDR has me hooked playing Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 powered by 2700X+Radeon VII. My other monitor is a WQHD 34” and can’t go back to regular 60Hz monitors for gaming. Still useful for productivity. The with vsync turnd on in games the refresh rate matches the framerate so the adaptive feature is also buttery smooth as long as your gpu can feed it high FPS. For me playing coop multiplayer is a cinematic experience vs tdm like Apex where you want some eye candy turned off for player advantage.
I think a good video could be looking at the difference between 1 and 5ms response time. I havn't compared the two personally but I don't know if I would be able to tell the difference

@@leoshalamberidze2532 No its not. He's actually providing an alternative to the lower end model that's perfect for someone like me. You don't need to be an asshole dude
@@Drknight1212 Wow, thanks for calling me out though. Let me just tell you why you are wrong (and rude, but who cares, really): when you are looking at any new high-end stuff, you are expecting it to be pricey and there are good reasons for it. You want 34 inch? OK, that costs something. You want 100+ ghz RR? OK, that also costs something. Can I interest you in a top-notch IPS pannel with stunning colors / latency / HDR / proprietary technologies / multiple other options / software that lets you customize your behemoth? Sure, but that costs money, man. If someone is trying to get you an alternative, he's not going head-to-head to compare it to a 10x less expensive screen, because they simply are UNCOMPARABLE and hence this does NOT provide you an alternative, you are NOT talking comparison, you are looking for a DIFFERENT product that has only visual resemblence with the one in the video above (e.g. both appear to be screens connecting to a PC). Rest assured, you can just go to amazon, select monitor category and put up a filter for whichever price tag you want and look up what actually fits your need, there are items on sale everyday there, i'm sure you can look up a good deal and read reviews which are actually meant toward people looking for items in that price range as opposing to this video, honestly. Again, if still unclear, not trying to be rude, trying to be reasonable. Am using a 10 year-old 24 inch dell panel myself, but because I've seen the LG monitors in person and in this video, I simply know better than to recommend my screen over those above, even though it does what I paid for it.
@@leoshalamberidze2532 Bro what are you talking about? The last monitor in the video Jay talked about was the LG 24GL600F. Its 144 HZ 1080p 1ms 24inch TN panel. I just got myself a AOC G2590FX 24.5" display to pair with my GTX 1070 and WOW huge difference. Though that is coming from having 1080p 60hz screens before and freesync is working flawlessly. I am glad nVidia finally allowed freesync to work instead of forcing us to pay the g-sync tax as where I am those displays tend to be at least 200-300$ more. Though I know not all freesync is made equal and you have to check if it is even a good display or not before buying.
Just a note relating Samsung UHD UJ59. I’ve noticed that even though G-Sync compatible is enabled when extended freesync is selected on the monitor it only works after you revert to static refresh rate - apply. Then enable G-Sync compatibility and deselecting it under the G-Sync setup menu and enabling it again. Same process needs to be applied after driver updates. Works from 40-59 FPS no stutter, hitching or tearing. I selected fast v-sync to allow for frames to be dropped above 60 FPS which remove the top level stutter and tear. I was also able to overclock the panel to 65 Hz which alow for a slightly extended G-Sync compatible range. 4K gaming on 32” a few feet away from my face is quite awesome and incredibly crisp and clear. Hope this helps some people to get G-Sync compatibility to work on their freesync capable displays.
i use freesync on my viotek GN32DB with my gtx 1080 with gsync turned on.. so far, no glitches or artifacts or any other negative effects... its not on their approved list but its worked flawlessly for me so far... in case anyone with that monitor was wondering
I finally bought a display port cable so I could enable gsync on my aw2518hf 240hz monitor, and wow what a difference it makes. So smooth and responsive and no stutter or screen tear. Visually looks better too. Definitely worth spending 30 bucks.
I've been buying LG panels/screens, including their phones, for years now and have never been disappointed for the money. I cannot wait for the price on this monitor to drop. I have the LG 34UM69 currently. 75Hrz, 21:9, "1ms" refresh.
You can find a users list with freesync monitors and glitches if some model have one. And I remember that the list of models with glitches wasn't short.
I have the 32GK650F and I do have to say that I'm impressed. I got a VERY good deal on it so I figured why not. I wasn't even looking for something this big (32") with 144Hz and 1440. I really don't miss the lack of HDR. The monitor has great saturation even without it. One thing to mention is that it's a VA panel vs an IPS panel like the ultrawide.
Yes please do a review! I have been looking for a monitor like that as an all-rounder since I do a mix CAD, video production, and game but I am tired of the compromises of other more dedicated options.
You never had G Sync enabled on the CPU. look at 4:26 . theres a setting down below that says "this monitor is not gsync but would you like to ENABLE it", then theres a check box you HAVE TO CHECK. you'll notice it wasnt checked in this video. SO you weren't using G-Sync in this video about "G-Sync". Sorry to give you the news. Let me know when you make a new one. Thanks I put a few tweets on your twitter to show you in detail. @JayzTwoCents
Yeah I did notice this yesterday. I already tweeted at him, but he is simply ignoring this fact. This mistake is also pretty bad as he is sponsored by LG. His conclusion about the monitor can also be completely wrong.
Right. While the gk950f is a great SDR monitor, @ the hdr400 spec it's a very low end HDR panel with no FALD and sub 400nits of peak brightness. Jay is just fanboying way too hard about it.
4:21 you don't actually have GSYNC enabled, you also have to check the box towards bottom "Enable settings for the selected display model" ,This extra step is required for freesync displays that haven't been validated by Nvidia.
Correct. That means he was running plain old VSYNC on or off at 144 hz. That said I personally have the 34GK950F and use it everyday with GSYNC enabled and it works perfectly
I know this is an old post, but didn't know you could enable G-Sync (GTX1660) on a Freesync monitor (Omen 32"). Something you need to know; you need to have a DP (Display Port) cable; doesn't seem to work on HDMI

I have that 32" model and I love it. Worked amazingly with my vega 64, and now my 1080ti is running amazingly on it with gsync. Really cool time for PC stuff now that gsync works on freesync panels, crytek pushing software based raytracing on an AMD card and forcing nvidia's hand about gtx ray tracing, and just overall innovation.

LG really makes good stuff. I use 2 24 inch IPS monitors (one of them is 60hz and the other is 75hz, BOTH IPS). They're awesome for gaming, movies etc.
after a couple of driver updates since the 417.71 update, Freesync on GSYNC works flawlessly on my Korean 144hz monitor now. I was having flickering issues before, and now they're totally gone :)
lol already purchased the 32 inch 144hz version. Such a freaking upgrade. I listened to your upload on building a pc around a monitor, and you are definitely right. It's like upgrading a video card kind of difference lol.
Thanks for the tip about turnining on the freesync in monitor osd before setting it up in drivers! I have tested 4K LG 27UK600W and it works this way :)
As far as the gsync model 34GK950G i would assume most of these problems i listed below are not apparent due to nvidia strict standards and the implementation of the gsync chip. This is why quality control is do important and standards are good to have. Otherwise you get companies cheaping out on the open source route skimping on every dollar to make a profit by having bad internal scalers. It is the premium that comes with gsync monitors. If it's worth the premium is 100% up to you. I would rather have a product with no hdr and a little less fps that works flawlessly rather than a broken product that has extensive major flaws that are not talked about.

I have the LG 34GK950F-B and I absolutely love it. When I go into Nvidia control panel, it doesn’t really seem to acknowledge the monitor as a g-sync compatible display. I just got in my LG 32GK650F monitor from Amazon sweet price downloaded new drivers for windows 10 on my pc for my geforce gtx 1080ti zotac fantastic picture after adjusting resolution and fps
thanks for the tip on this monitor it's huge and I love it.
Jay. I don't think you have Gync on because the check mark under 3.Display Specific Setting. The enable settings for the selected display is not checked. Gync is not on at all. FreeSync monitor have fps counter in OSD to check if you have FreeSync on.
That's what I was thinking cuz when I tried my screen just when black
Black screen too.
I bought the ultra wide!!! completely love it.
it was between that one and comparable models from Asus and MSI, but your reaction to the monitor sold me on the LG
For anybody wondering, you can pick up the LG 32GK650F-B for 299.99 at Micro Center (in store). Excellent monitor.
Works great with my Asus MG248Q.. Finally, buying a freesync monitor just because its cheaper and 144hz comes with an added bonus!
1:34 Jay tried to hold his breath for a while xD
I bought a 34GK950F last week. Expensive but worth it. It's absolutely fantastic to play games on. HDR isn't full 1000nit spec but it's still very bright and perfectly acceptable. It just works.
i got the 650f and i love it. works perfect with my 1080 SOOO SMOOOOOTHHHHH
I've got an inexpensive MSI 21:9 and a 2070S - adaptive sync and g-sync work perfectly together, very nice experience without the g-sync price tag on the monitor.
You forgot to check "Enable settings for the selected display" That means you are just playing without G sync. 😒
Hopefully he had it enabled when he filmed the gaming parts cuz that would be embarassing..
Yes, 100% useless video.
IT was already enabled in manage 3d settings as "Monitor Tech=Gsync Compatible"
My Pixio works with G-Sync. It's rated for 95 Hz but will run 144. You should also enable V-Sync in Nvidia settings.
@@TE5LA-GAMING you don't need to enable v-sync, that will just limit it to the monitors refresh rate. Keeping v sync off will allow fps to go over the refresh rate, it will automatically turn gsync off but once the fps drops to the monitors refresh rate gsync will turn back on.
Same thing i said about HDR....ohhhhh and then i said wow its amazing! Just look at that lighting, so warm you want to hug it..
1:31 "It's a 34 inch, ultra wide, 144hz, 21:9, 1ms, HDR, nano cell, IPS gaming panel."
Good to know haha.
Jay, I think you need to enable g-sync by clicking on the third option "Enable setting for the selected display model" ,, otherwise, it's not going to work if the monitor is not compatible. and LG is not compatible yet.
I'd like to see a review of the 32 inch. The ultra wide I can't afford
Do NOT get a VA panel for gaming. The smearing is HORRIBLE.
@@EcoAcid, most people prefer VA panels for gaming over IPS. VA is faster than IPS, like a TN panel, but has the color and viewing angles of an IPS but with better contrast.
Edit: I have the BenQ EX3203R monitor and it's one of the best that I've ever used or seen, and I've tried out just about every monitor on the market.
@@EcoAcid I have a VA panel and haven't noticed any "smearing" or ghosting. It varies panel to panel just like any other type of panel
+Salty Steel What a load of crap.
2:40 ehm.... was the frame rate below 144? because otherwise g-sync was not active at all on that monitor. ;-)
If that monitor has a refresh rate overlay, then I'd activate that so that you can see G-Sync working (or not working).
Jay review them all. i just wish you had the 27in to test as well because im looking into buying that one.

Long time lurker, first time commenter. Firstly, love your work, keep it up! Secondly, please do a review of the 34gk950f!
It has a 5ms Reaction Time... The 1ms mentioned is Motion-Blur-Reduction-Time. So nothing new. But I would still enjoy a review.
I think a good video could be looking at the difference between 1 and 5ms response time. I havn't compared the two personally but I don't know if I would be able to tell the difference
@jayztwocents The monitor is only 5ms. 1ms is with motion blur reduction (MBR) turned on which disables freesync.
I have the hp 25mx and it works great on all games plus I got the monitor for 150 bucks on sale it’s a great deal! It’s 200 right now at microcenter like so others can see
This is like commenting "I like my 1990 toyota supra, great car, got it on sale for $2k, it's a great deal" under a ferrari laferrari review... make some sense dude.
The one this guy mentioned he bought has near identical specs for the same price of $200. To me, that's called an alternative or another option that I can use to narrow down what I really want to buy.
@@Drknight1212 That is a very valid point, you (as the guy above) should have specified which monitor did you mean before entering this discussion, the 24 FHD ones are solid comparison. My prev. comment was regarding what Jay focused towards the end of video and what most ppl commenting here were talking of - the more high-end ver.
No hard feelings, I hope
I just got myself a AOC G2590FX 24.5" display to pair with my GTX 1070 and WOW huge difference. Though that is coming from having 1080p 60hz screens before and freesync is working flawlessly. I am glad nVidia finally allowed freesync to work instead of forcing us to pay the g-sync tax as where I am those displays tend to be at least 200-300$ more. Though I know not all freesync is made equal and you have to check if it is even a good display or not before buying.
please do the review, i was thinking about buying this one
Thanks for this update. Would've never known if you didn't make a video. My older Viewsonic has AMD freesync and it works perfectly!
hey Jay reviews on these monitors would be great with fps displayed ,thanks very much.
I am very interested in a full review. I have been looking at this monitor since the CES video, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Thanks
i use freesync on my viotek GN32DB with my gtx 1080 with gsync turned on.. so far, no glitches or artifacts or any other negative effects... its not on their approved list but its worked flawlessly for me so far... in case anyone with that monitor was wondering
review would be cool and a comparison between other budget ultrawides
I finally bought a display port cable so I could enable gsync on my aw2518hf 240hz monitor, and wow what a difference it makes. So smooth and responsive and no stutter or screen tear. Visually looks better too. Definitely worth spending 30 bucks.
Yes - review the all-in-one ultrawide with an absolute bare minimum of HDR standards
At the end of these videos it's always nice to be reminded that Jay only just learnt to speak English 3 days before it was recorded.
Review it Jay. I'd like to know more about that monitor.
I have the 1080p version of that LG monitor you were raving about and I love it.
Do a review on the ultrawide one and explain about freesync 2 which it has
I've been buying LG panels/screens, including their phones, for years now and have never been disappointed for the money. I cannot wait for the price on this monitor to drop. I have the LG 34UM69 currently. 75Hrz, 21:9, "1ms" refresh.
Enabling g-sync on freesync monitors was one of the greatest decisions Nvidia has ever made.
You can find a users list with freesync monitors and glitches if some model have one. And I remember that the list of models with glitches wasn't short.
Review the damn panel Jay
I have the 32GK650F and I do have to say that I'm impressed. I got a VERY good deal on it so I figured why not. I wasn't even looking for something this big (32") with 144Hz and 1440. I really don't miss the lack of HDR. The monitor has great saturation even without it. One thing to mention is that it's a VA panel vs an IPS panel like the ultrawide.

Yes please do a review! I have been looking for a monitor like that as an all-rounder since I do a mix CAD, video production, and game but I am tired of the compromises of other more dedicated options.
if you do a review please cover ghosting. make sure you test side-by-side to a CRT.
Anything that's not TN or OLED won't even come close to CRT...
@@MLWJ1993 Yes that was kind of the point of recommending the CRT.

I put a few tweets on your twitter to show you in detail. @JayzTwoCents
Yeah I did notice this yesterday. I already tweeted at him, but he is simply ignoring this fact. This mistake is also pretty bad as he is sponsored by LG. His conclusion about the monitor can also be completely wrong.
'HDR..how can it get any better!'
...Proper 1000nit HDR instead of this gimped PC monitor 400nit HDR, That's how.
Or 600nit HDR at the very least. I consider 600nits to be the bare minimum that is needed for a decent HDR experience.
Right. While the gk950f is a great SDR monitor, @ the hdr400 spec it's a very low end HDR panel with no FALD and sub 400nits of peak brightness. Jay is just fanboying way too hard about it.
Fair but 400nit HDR must be better than no HDR
@@ontherocks9012 It isn't really HDR. It's a loose spec that can be slapped on any screen bright enough to meet it.
Yeah really. I bought a BenQ monitor with "HDR" and returned it because it was very underwhelming.
4:21 you don't actually have GSYNC enabled, you also have to check the box towards bottom "Enable settings for the selected display model" ,This extra step is required for freesync displays that haven't been validated by Nvidia.

@@sephirothlv100 that's fair. My wife doesn't notice the difference between no vsync, vsync, and Gsync/Freesync unless I carefully point it out to her.
Nothing wrong with that. Some people are more attuned to this stuff than others. Honestly I wish I weren't sometimes. I sometimes notice dips of 10fps, and definitely notice 20+ even with Gsync on. So this tech is important to me.
@@JathanH For me it's the tearing, I play all games with V-sync on (or in borderless window mode, which just uses Windows' built-in v-sync). you don't need 1000 nits for an amazing HDR experience, that shit is blinding!
1000 nits is very fine from good distance (like when watching movies. You can even wear you sunclasses ;). From 30cm... it can be painfull..
On a monitor right in your face you don’t need 1000. 400 is too low I agree. 600 would be fine. If you use 1000 nit monitor inches away from your face that shit is blinding. On TV or further viewing distance yea that’s what you want. For a monitor 600 would be a great experience. Also it still is HDR at lower than 1000. I have that 32" model and I love it. Worked amazingly with my vega 64, and now my 1080ti is running amazingly on it with gsync.
Really cool time for PC stuff now that gsync works on freesync panels, crytek pushing software based raytracing on an AMD card and forcing nvidia's hand about gtx ray tracing, and just overall innovation.
mate can you please confirm is 32" VA panel, and how is with bleeding?
Jayz didn't enable G-Sync at 4:27. I don't think he knows that you also have to checkmark the last box too.
The last box is only if you want G-Sync active during non-fullscreen game sessions.
Nope, you have to click also on the 3rd checkbox called, "Enable settings for the selected display model" (have a look at it at 4:27 and 5:48). Freesync will not be enabled, unless the third option is also enabled. His monitor is not set to freesync, its simply in normal mode.

Sounds like the ultimate panel, review would be cool

I assume it’s working either way because I’ve never had any issues with tearing, stuttering or anything else but it’d be nice if control panel definitively said that it is active and working
