I can't begin to imagine the difficulty of creating this awesome of a soundtrack with the hardware limitations given. To quote a friend who says this far too often (3 times today) , "You go girl! Be the revolution!"
I would have loved an OST cassette with PETscii robots, like planet X2 and X3. Oh well. I love seeing the oscilloscope view, just seeing that old trick of changing instruments on the fly. Doing more with less.
@Theodore Roberts Same, I backed the $60 PX3 level. The biggest issue is I can't seem to find an emulator that has remappable Keybinds, for some insane reason. Because the Backspace key isn't corresponding to the equivalent on the C64. Bought a C64 and 1541 off eBay (separate unfortunately) so at least I have a fighting chance when the NPC's outsmart me.
You can get a casette player with a microphone jack and connect an aux cable from your headphone port on your computer to the mic jack on your tape recorder.
Really nice. Ever since I heard Giana Sisters theme on a C64 as a child, I understood it could be used for many great things and music was one feature not lacking for its age.
This is excellent work and im getting Warlocked (GBC) vibes from "Metallic Bop" this is worth buying the game and soundtrack alone! Keep up the amazing work Noelle!
This is all very well done: You worked well within the confines of what the C64 could do, and made something befitting of the era it originated. The tracks are excellent in-game (I just bought a copy myself!) and to listen to on their own!
Noelle, Edzes and Monodeer on my chiptune playlist... can X-mas get any better? :) Amazing what you managed to compose with only two voices, you have my utter respect! Best wishes, stay safe!
What program have you used to make the oscilloscope view? Maybe Corrscope or OVGen? Also thanks for upload this soundtrack in osc view. You can view the channel usage more clearly and how it's look the low pass filter morphing the waves.
I used SidWiz Plus for the visualizations. No problem! I don't think I fully understood how crazy the voice switching I did was until making the osc view :p
Hey, uhh, random thing. So, after discovering the overlooked DOS port of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo relatively recently, it didn't take very long for me to become obsessed with it's excellent CD based remixed soundtrack. In fact, it's so much so that I want to find out what audio gear was used to make it. Why exactly? Well, the first reason would likely just be natural human curiosity. And the second reason is that the arrangement of Ken's theme is incomplete for whatever reason, and I sort of want to "make up" a full version of the arrangement using the same instruments. Now of course, you have far greater knowledge and experience with synths and various other audio equipment than someone like me, and I'm hoping that you could possibly recognize some of the sounds in these mixes and attach it to it's respective synth/workstation or whatever. Sorry for being so sudden and out of the blue with this comment, but this whole thing has been getting on my nerve for months now. Anyway, here's the soundtrack: th-cam.com/play/PLnjKEKWsnNVuLG6Z4cr6TWTTxBKj5lbZA.html
Can't pin exact instruments, but it sounds like Roland JV-1080, Korg 01/W, and Kurzweil K2000. K2000 especially would make sense since it has a sampler, and the soundtrack uses what sounds like Zero-G's Funk Guitar CD.
i've seen similar technique in Rib's soundtrack to Stardust (Amiga game). Once i've seen th-cam.com/video/5Fbxqc-vIS4/w-d-xo.html playing in tracker i couldn't believe that he was able to squeeze such rich tekno tune into merely two sampled channels :D
Great work, Noelle!
indeed
yos
David, you definetely should at least link to Noelle's channel in Part 2's description. I've did deep diggin' until i've found her channel.
Indeed I could listen to this for hours!
And I might just do that.
funny seeing your comment because ur channel was the first thing I though of when hearing this track just now.
The second voice in a nutshell:
*Changes type every 5 seconds*

@Theodore Roberts Indeed, I backed the Planet X3 kickstarter to get both deluxe copies, with OST on cassette.

YOU did that game's soundtrack?! Oh my god! this is so cool!
This is the perfect soundtrack for a game about robots!
man.. I bought this game solely because of this great music. This music is SO AWESOME!
great work!
Rushin' In soundtrack has been heard by so many that even non gamers recognize it!
Outstanding work, love it. Hard to believe it's multiplexed over only 2 channels. Looking forward to hearing it in-game!
I think the third voice is used for in game sound effects.
That’s what she (speedy) said
Once again I'm listening to this as I cook for my family. Yes. This is my cooking music
Some giana sisters vibe in some parts) great work!
You got an amazing sound within all those limitations and just 2 channels. BRAVO!
This is excellent work and im getting Warlocked (GBC) vibes from "Metallic Bop" this is worth buying the game and soundtrack alone!

This is not only great composition-wise but the instruments rock as well!
All versions are fantastic, but this is truly masterpiece.

I've been wating for your new music upload for so long. Thank you!
Awesome sounds. I really enjoy listening to it more than one time 🤗
Noelle - this is just great! It's hard to believe it's possible to produce music as sophisticated as this with only 2 channels!
Can't wait to hear your work played by vice emulator ;) Great OST!
I see what you did for Track 4. The name doesn't hide it. Great work, laddie!
*Lassie
But it's the thought that counts
@@AstralPhnx I thought Laddie was a gender-neutral term, like mate. Lassie sounds too much like a dog.
@@Toonrick12 depends but hey, I know yoy weren't being malicious.
Man, this is such a good soundtrack.
Nice work. Sounds AMAZING!!!
Amazing!!
Love ya man
She's lady now. And we love her music!

@@SpeedySPCFan Yeah, osc views are really useful to see this type of things. I use them too 👍
Hey Noelle, can I use this music in my podcast? This month's episode is on the Commodore 64, and we talk about Robots with Scott Robinson.
This is really great!
Let's goooooo
That music is catchy to me :)
Rushin' In sounds catchy.
Love it!!
I wouldn't know there were only 2 voices used for the in-game music
Loved it!
Saw your video on David's channel, you should really do some more to camera stuff! ❤️
Rob Hubbard: Finally! A worthy opponent!
title theme is so good wtf
yep! robots
Nice job Noël
👍
Noelle absolutely dominated this
00:00 is my favorite 😃
Am I the only one who thinks the percussion on Rushin' In sounds like a cat sneezing?
14:25 is very disturbing 😭
making get psyched in minecraft using noteblocks (yeah this will take forever)

I'm hearing a lot of RainbowDragonEyes in this
There is something about Rushin' In (In Game 2) that gets to me. Not sure what it is.
Ugh, this game looks so cool but I literally have NONE of the systems it is released for! How expensive are c64's?

Get Psyched aka Got BillieJeanized :D
this is almost tim follin quality.
Make a Midi version
