Even though this list does look similar to what we played in the past, I do still think its the most optimal way to play in a very hand trap heavy format. What do you think about summon limit as a complement to the winda package? To your point in the video, snake eyes and fire king format is very reliant on multiple summons so I wonder. It could brick but I find that easy access to magicians souls also makes it possible to turn that into a draw for games when it's a less viable line of play.

Thats cool. With a lot of Spellcasters, maybe run one copy of Magicians Defense in your side or main deck. As long as one Spellcaster is on your field, you will take half damage. Also when its sent to the grave, you get to bring a Spellcaster back from your grave. So either your opponent would get annoyed and try to get rid of it, or you can flip it over so you can use Souls to remove it. To recycle your Cartesia or whatever you like. Also, from the vid, you get to draw 2 from Servant because DM and DMG are in your grave.
Bruh try running Shaddoll Fusion package in the side since you already have them in the extra deck. It blows out Fire but is just a great board breaker in general. Banish 3 cards from opponents grave, pop a spell/trap and negate a face-up monster with 1 card 🤯. I’m cooking a DM/Buster Blader Build that utilizes a lot of the same cards with the Buster Welp as the normal instead of Rod. Then just siding out the whole Buster Blader package for board breakers going second it’s wild. Can post the list tonight if interested.

Quem raises the decks ceiling. She can facilitate double mirrorjades consistently. I think you should run branded opening because it’ll let you special summon Quem or Aluber from deck and provides protection from destruction effects for your fusions. Another potential addition is Albion the shrouded dragon, he can foolish any branded spell/trap or albaz. It opens lines to recover BraFu from the gy with branded retribution. Also it helps to get Cartesia on the field to dodge imperm and veiler on potential choke points. Branded is a deck that thrives when ran with 45+ cards. I think your deck would actually improve by running a more comprehensive branded engine and boosting the card count.
I 100% agree. I think it’s a situation where the ceiling gets raised but the floor does get lower, and it’s a trade off that def warrants a dissuasion. SP really isn’t mandatory, it’s just a free interruption assuming you open sub-optimal or get hit with 2-3 Interruptions. You can play Garura or something else just ti give you a + when you send it of Grang or Nadir :)

For the ones complaining and saying is it a Dm Deck? Yes, it is because the number of Dm cards is more than the number of branded cards in the main deck. Based on CADT rules, this is a Dm Deck with a branded engine. Dm archetype has been shafted with poor support. That's why we use different engines to improve our decks. Take meta deck Snake Eyes they use fire king cards in the deck which is a engine to help improve gameplay. Get off your high horse and adapt

Can anyone help me better understand that if we chain Duality/Secrets/Cartesia to avoid the Imperm effect negation on Albion, is the Imperm unable to resolve because the Albion is no longer a face-up target and is instead in the graveyard? Is this still the case if the opponent responds with something like a Dragoon negate instead of an Imperm?

I don't think the runick variant is that bad tbh. I think if you up the count from 15 to 17, you gain a lot more consistency in the draws for it, and it works better with souls. You can cut down on some of the dm engine. I'm doing some testing now but would love to show you a diff version of the runick DM branded list and see what you think
Nice vid, btw im curious why do all DM players still play DMG as the second name? ever since the release of chaos angel for me mahad has been the staple second name, unlike dmg it can actually summon itself on draw, its used to miss timing in past versions of DM with cards like allure and upstart but all the magical hero support works perfectly with mahad, souls, dark magicians and servant all draw without any after effect. it can be searched with illusion and stacked on top to then draw it with souls etc summon itself then use servant to draw 2, and best of all it allows rod later game to be a 1 card combo into full power chaos angel. Rod Search servant, use servant stack mahad, use servant in gy eff to draw 1 assuming a DM is in play, summon mahad and make chaos angel :D
I don’t know where all the negative comments coming from but I think u guys misunderstand the whole process of the deck. Literally matchie kept all the DM cards from his first video (but 1 servant ig) Point of the deck is to not have a pure dm deck, but have dm cards and it’s engine in the deck to keep up with meta decks and even top with it at ycs. To you guys who that wanna have a pure dm deck that works in this meta with eternal and circle as one of the many bricks that this deck would have if we don’t combine the dm engine with another, good luck and no offense but u guys with the wrong guy then. Matchie the combo potential u just offered with playing many cards that was at 3, as 2 and replacing other cards with it is crazy, u been doin a good job. I don’t think I gotta repeat other fellas what u just did with cross out is krazy etc. Keep goin 🤝🏽🫶🏽

ive had more luck with my ritual dm than fusion dm, recently won locals last week, vs heroes, gate guardian, and snake eyes almost won again the next day, vs snake eyes, crusadia, had to leave last round not the best list, but it randomly works, it also doesnt work, but when it does, its fun
How viable is this version of the deck in Master Duel? I've in thinking of trying it but I'm not sure if I want to spend all my UR essence. Have anyone tried it?

This deck seems too bricky having to play 3 engines. I would rather integrate a small kashtira core instead like how theyre doing in master duel. Fenrir, unicorn, and birth are too busted to not be playing them.
Interesting take. I don’t hate the small kashtira engine, but I don’t really see how it helps the deck being less bricky… it’s another case of having another sub engine that could potentially clog. I 100% agree and acknowledge that the deck has a bricking issue, im working on a way to fix that… But I’ll def look into that Kash engine again. Thanks for the comment
Okay after watching: I’ve been playing around with cutting DMG, SODM, and timaeus the united. I’ve also substituted DMG for mahad to still get good use out of soul servant. Gimmick puppet is also fun, and with mahad you have roughly an extra 7 ways to get into a gimmick puppet with mahad instead of DMG. Been working pretty well. Would love to discuss with you sometime!

It has plenty of other DM cards in it though. People just have to accept Dark Magician has to exist as more of an engine than a deck itself to survive today.
So nothing new really imo best version of DM for a while now, the side deck was really interesting for DM but you see these cards more and more as side decks. To compete in the power creep format we keep getting we need better 1 card starters and in archtype links to help the deck along with stong spell cards thats a lot what i dont see coming anytime soon
I did think of this when uploading “Dman, the deck hasn’t seen much change since it was originally put together” On the other hand, it’s a situation where it works. I think it’s def the most optimal way to play the list, and that’s what we’re trying to do here. But yeah, I’m still trying to find ways to splash new ideas into DM… grind is never ending with this deck haha. Thanks for the support Rez! Means a lot :)
This is basically shaddoll branded. All of the dark magician cards are either in the gy or the only monster that is somewhat dark magician on the end board is dragoon. This is a poor showing of a dark magician deck, this only shows that you cannot make a dark magician deck in the year 2024.
Interesting you say that. There are 7 branded cards and 1 shaddoll card. I encourage you to watch the combo videos on my channel, and youll see why the dark magician are there and how much they carry the deck :)
@@Calm4LifeTV dragoon is the best card in the deck lol. The DM engine does 3 things for this deck. Generate resources, draws and digs through your deck. Sets up everything you need to summon your boss monster in multiples (red-eyes dark dragoon + Another dragoon, or mirror jade, or Sanctifier, ect). The only thing Branded Fusion does is cheats out and facilitate a fusion summoning. The shaddoll stuff sets up winda (litterally 1 main deck slot) That’s it lol. The only argument I’ll listen to is that “this deck doesn’t have the DM triangle so it’s not a DM deck” to which I respond with, this deck does everything Pure DM does outside of the the triangle,.. in addition the triangle is completely outdated, bad. Being so fixated on a line of play that wasn’t even good in 2017 isn’t a recipe for success. I do also think we share completely different views on the game. If I was building a DM deck for a casual community, or kitchen table format, obviously I wouldn’t be playing the cards im playing. Every card choice in this video is to focus what DM does BEST, and optimizing it for competitive play.

This deck is all kinds of hodgepodge. If you're going to play Dark Magician, for the love of God man, play Dark Magician. The entire point of the deck is to mill out Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl. That's it. That should be your entire and only focus when deck building. Get out Dark Magician and get out Dark Magician girl as fast and as efficiently as possible. The entire deck goes into overdrive after that. Salvation is 2 bodies a turn for links or w/e you may need them for, combination is a soft once p/ turn omni, soul servant is a draw 2, then there's always the good ol circle banish. Access to any one of these puts you in a really good spot provided you get out DM and DMG. There's an art to running multiple engines. The magic is not the ideas behind the engines, but how well they are balanced. The purpose of the 2nd engine is to facilitate the plays of the 1st engine. The Branded package here is too heavy for DM support, yet not enough to play Branded. I have no clue why Shaddoll is there, but there's not enough to play Shaddoll. There's not enough Dark Magician there. Its horribly balanced across all 3 counts. The only reason Branded works so well in Dark Magician is b/c its the 2nd burial of DM/DMG (on top of Souls) and it gives you access to the boss fusions all in one card. All you need is 3 Branded Fusion and 1 (maybe 2) Albaz. You're not trying to play Branded, you are using it to support DM. With brafu @ 3, there's no reason to play Dogmatika or Shadoll or any of that stuff. Cut out all the crap. Add your DM spells/traps back in. Add in your non engine. Tune the Extra and the Side. Best of luck to you.
How are you supposed to stop your opponents from heavily comboing and destroying your field? How are you supposed to slow down your opponent so they can’t swarm the field with monsters? How are you supposed to interrupt your opponent? Shaddoll is there to floodgate your opponent. You CLEARLY did not watch the video and you demonstrate ignorance about today’s meta. He IS playing Dark Magician and he is playing it competitively. Stop saying “oh you’re not playing Dark Magician if you don’t include this, this and this.” How about you show us a Pure DM deck getting regional tops and YCS tops?

Right now it's kinda hard, the meta it's to strong and we are without dragoon, you can reach diamond easily, but then will be a hell

Okay after watching: I’ve been playing around with cutting DMG, SODM, and timaeus the united. I’ve also substituted DMG for mahad to still get good use out of soul servant. Gimmick puppet is also fun, and with mahad you have roughly an extra 7 ways to get into a gimmick puppet with mahad instead of DMG. Been working pretty well. Would love to discuss with you sometime!

If you're only playing one copy of dark magician is it really a dark magician deck tho...
It has plenty of other DM cards in it though. People just have to accept Dark Magician has to exist as more of an engine than a deck itself to survive today.
A 2500 normal beater can't carry a modern deck

So nothing new really imo best version of DM for a while now, the side deck was really interesting for DM but you see these cards more and more as side decks. To compete in the power creep format we keep getting we need better 1 card starters and in archtype links to help the deck along with stong spell cards thats a lot what i dont see coming anytime soon

On the other hand, it’s a situation where it works. I think it’s def the most optimal way to play the list, and that’s what we’re trying to do here.
But yeah, I’m still trying to find ways to splash new ideas into DM… grind is never ending with this deck haha.

the best way is to not play it at all
This is basically shaddoll branded. All of the dark magician cards are either in the gy or the only monster that is somewhat dark magician on the end board is dragoon. This is a poor showing of a dark magician deck, this only shows that you cannot make a dark magician deck in the year 2024.
Interesting you say that. There are 7 branded cards and 1 shaddoll card.
I encourage you to watch the combo videos on my channel, and youll see why the dark magician are there and how much they carry the deck :)

@@Calm4LifeTV dragoon is the best card in the deck lol. The DM engine does 3 things for this deck. Generate resources, draws and digs through your deck. Sets up everything you need to summon your boss monster in multiples (red-eyes dark dragoon + Another dragoon, or mirror jade, or Sanctifier, ect). The only thing Branded Fusion does is cheats out and facilitate a fusion summoning. The shaddoll stuff sets up winda (litterally 1 main deck slot) That’s it lol.
The only argument I’ll listen to is that “this deck doesn’t have the DM triangle so it’s not a DM deck” to which I respond with, this deck does everything Pure DM does outside of the the triangle,.. in addition the triangle is completely outdated, bad. Being so fixated on a line of play that wasn’t even good in 2017 isn’t a recipe for success.
I do also think we share completely different views on the game. If I was building a DM deck for a casual community, or kitchen table format, obviously I wouldn’t be playing the cards im playing. Every card choice in this video is to focus what DM does BEST, and optimizing it for competitive play.

This deck is all kinds of hodgepodge.
If you're going to play Dark Magician, for the love of God man, play Dark Magician. The entire point of the deck is to mill out Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl. That's it. That should be your entire and only focus when deck building. Get out Dark Magician and get out Dark Magician girl as fast and as efficiently as possible.
The entire deck goes into overdrive after that. Salvation is 2 bodies a turn for links or w/e you may need them for, combination is a soft once p/ turn omni, soul servant is a draw 2, then there's always the good ol circle banish. Access to any one of these puts you in a really good spot provided you get out DM and DMG.
There's an art to running multiple engines. The magic is not the ideas behind the engines, but how well they are balanced. The purpose of the 2nd engine is to facilitate the plays of the 1st engine. The Branded package here is too heavy for DM support, yet not enough to play Branded. I have no clue why Shaddoll is there, but there's not enough to play Shaddoll. There's not enough Dark Magician there. Its horribly balanced across all 3 counts.
The only reason Branded works so well in Dark Magician is b/c its the 2nd burial of DM/DMG (on top of Souls) and it gives you access to the boss fusions all in one card. All you need is 3 Branded Fusion and 1 (maybe 2) Albaz. You're not trying to play Branded, you are using it to support DM. With brafu @ 3, there's no reason to play Dogmatika or Shadoll or any of that stuff.
Cut out all the crap. Add your DM spells/traps back in. Add in your non engine. Tune the Extra and the Side. Best of luck to you.

How are you supposed to stop your opponents from heavily comboing and destroying your field? How are you supposed to slow down your opponent so they can’t swarm the field with monsters? How are you supposed to interrupt your opponent?
Shaddoll is there to floodgate your opponent. You CLEARLY did not watch the video and you demonstrate ignorance about today’s meta.
He IS playing Dark Magician and he is playing it competitively. Stop saying “oh you’re not playing Dark Magician if you don’t include this, this and this.” How about you show us a Pure DM deck getting regional tops and YCS tops?
