Thanks, really helpful. Is there one were you explain how we can predict which face of an alpha chiral aldehyde will react using both Zimmerman Traxler and Felkin -Ahn models?

+Kagiso Moekeletsi: I don't have one, but it is a good question that I have used in exams. You need to first work out which face from Felkin-Anh (note subtle spelling), and then use the Zimmerman Traxler model. The way I normally set up the Z-T shows a Si-face attack on the aldehyde. Thus if F-A says it is Si-face, then your Z-T is correct. If F-A says Re-face then your Z-T is making the enantiomer so you can just reverse the answer.
