    Through the murk into the dark and cold, that brings back memories from 25-30 years ago

    Cool cool cool! Beautiful dive, for S.Holston anyway! I remember diving that cliff years ago before sinus problems ended it for me. Only went to about 70' though. And yah fish get fairly large in that lake but not car size! Seen some 30 - 38 inch catfish though! Nowadays I just stick to snorkeling around the lake in coves and shallow places to watch and feed fish. Great vid looking forward to more!

    Nice shots of the lake. I have tried to use diving footage, but the visibility is at best as good as you got. It is interesting to see the surfaces, but to get an idea of the topography of that huge ridge that diverted the riverbed, it would require some serious composite work. The road that enters the lake at LakeView Boat-dock extends almost to the 421 bridge. If you had gone to the bottom, you would have been near that road. Of course there's nothing left. This is a link to Episode #9 of a series I produced here called the mysteries of South Holston Lake. Pardon the Standard Definition. It was produced for a local cable channel that could only broadcast SD.: th-cam.com/video/GBQbM5fnZho/w-d-xo.html

      Nice! Yes, we are familiar with the series. Good work. We continue to upgrade camera performance as we move forward. A consumer action camera can only take you so far, depending on your requirements.

    This reminded me of sudnatica when I was in the deep water and a luthathan came out of nowhere and started eating me

    I remember diving at the water intake up on the Va side in the mid 1980’s. I was busy writing on my slate or something. Anyway it was dark like this and I was using a regular mask. This was before they started making the masks with the side windows for perephial vision. I turned around and a big stick had drifted into me and it scared the crap out of me! I just turned around and there it was right in my face! LOL

    Don't reckon theres any chance of finding my van keys I lost in 75😁

      @AVAJourneys  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's entirely possible. We have found sets of keys before. We have more dives planned for the channel soon, as well as other projects. All are on hold in light of the local disaster in our area that we are all contending with. Thanks for watching!

    Where’s the giant catfish? I think they are suppose to be near the dam.

    • @AVAJourneys
      @AVAJourneys  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hate to disappoint, but the largest I have seen in South Holston was maybe just over 3 feet. I'm sure it is possible larger may be down there, however. On the contrary, Sturgeon, that thrive in certain freshwater environments, can be massive. I believe the record was over 20 feet. It was caught in the 1800's.

      I’ve heard stories about catfish so big divers were afraid to go back into the water. Been looking for them for over 25 years. Haven’t found one yet. I’ve seen a couple of alligator snapping turtles that I wouldn’t want to get ahold of me though! Then again I don’t want any of them biting me! But I’m afraid the stories are just that, stories. I had to give up diving due to an injury. Who knows, maybe someone else might find a gigantic catfish. If they do, I hope they invite me to the fish fry! 😊

      She definitely wouldn't have been the only one to lose them! We’re sure only some of those that were down there were found in that dive. I bet there could be a large club for “I lost my sunglasses at Cliff Island”
