I really like how Oblivion NPC always had their specific greetings. It really adds alot to the lore. It may be "realistic" to not have people talk about themselves to random strangers, but it's way more fun to have it than not.
Oblivion did alot of fun "videogamey" stuff like that that made it a much better videogame! As opposed to Skyrim that's trying to be very theatrical and give every player the exact same playthrough where they progrss through things in the same preordained designed calculated order that Bethesda deems acceptable. That strict realism of Skyrim idk if I'm describing it well is really boring while Oblivion always feels really alive and full of character. When you don't try to be super realistic you can add alot of emotion and passion!
Aspiring developer: Takes notes... Lol. But for real, I like that. Realism is fine to a point, but most people come to gaming to escape reality. Why chase it so hard? As long as characters are believable within their story and the worlds they inhabit follow the rules they set, then it doesn't matter how ridiculous it is people will love it.
@@MatthewMaddox-ss3zp Also I think there's an in-game NPC who looks exactly like Jeremy Soule the guy who composed the music for the games. Stuff like that really makes it feel much more alive than realism. Skyrim looks realistic visually while Oblivion feels realistic through its human character portrayal
I always wonder when people say it's not realistic to have people spill the beans to strangers... if they ever worked in service industry jobs. Like I can be a clerk at a grocery store and any given shift I'll have dozens of people tell me far too many very personal details. Same deal when i worked as a waitress. Or even just riding the bus for work commutes. People seem to yearn to randomly tell strangers things. Not everyone. But it's far from the bizarre step I've noticed that most seem to think it is.
Spoiler for newbies: the mobs that carry glow dust are hard to kill at very low levels. There is a free glow dust in the little basement lab in the Bruma mage guild.
You are an amazing narrator. Your word choice and intonation is so well thought out and executed. It keeps me immersed and interested. Thanks for doing vids on one of my favorite games.
I find it cool how a lot of Oblivion's game mechanics are described in various books found in the world. I've watched a lot of TH-camrs who claim that nowhere in Oblivion does the game explain how the apparatuses work for alchemy, and instantly I know they didn't do thorough research before making the video because the effects of the various apparatuses are explained in the book: "Fundamentals of Alchemy" which I believe every mages guild building has a copy of.
Fun fact, there's a "Tower of Azora" in world of warcraft, alliance side; You go there for low level enchanting trainer. Every time I go there. BY AZORA BY AZORA BY AZORA! IT'S THE GREAT GRAND ENCHANTER!
Long time viewer first time caller, I fucking love your commentary dude, your voice over reminds me of reading written lets plays of Morrowind that were written like journals/in text chapters. Especially the part at 18:20 "she tries desperately to escape behind a boulder that she claws out in vain" like your descriptions of the gameplay dude are A+
Well thank you, Holo. I appreciate it! There was this one Eastern European chap on a Morrowind Facebook page that literally wrote diary entries. I loved them so much I tried to convince him to get into youtube but he declined. Sad that I don't see those entries anymore!
@@DarkLOREDash You should get into Morrowind lore Dash. With your expertise it would really bring some attention and life to an old game that really flies under the radar these days
Normal Oblivion player: "Crud, vampire den." Me: "Yay, vampire den!" My Xbox 360, Scrooge McDuck, had a cursed RNG. Skyrim, completed the game seeing steel plate max, Borderlands, a legendary every other playthrough...maybe. Oblivion, still crud, but the first slain vampire in a den would always drop a high class fire enchantment. Still love the playthrough that dropped a staff of conflagration at the beginning of Memorial Cave...
Oblivion is one of my favorite games so I am loving this! I found you through Diablo videos and I am staying for everything else. You do an amazing job and I appreciate all of the hard work you put into each video. If you ever choose to do a Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 playthrough I would not object! Keep up the amazing work!
Great video. Going to be interesting to see the Daedra quests, and what sorts of quests they give the player. I don't remember much, expect for the Sheogorath one, which I did after the Shivering isles questline. Nice narration, and great job for the Orc voice, as it sounds if it came from the game. May you and everybody, have a good day.
Hello, Dark Lord Dash! Your videos of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion are wonderful! Can you please make a story about an interesting quest in Oblivion, Canvas the Castle? Investigation of the missing painting in the castle! Evidence, suspects, and more! Thank you !
Hi there, I very much enjoy your videos. It's a good format. Thanks for the effort you put in. I would be interested to to know what your mod list looks like. Do you have it posted somewhere?
The clip you used was from Liar Liar, not Filthy Rich, but at least you credited Young Scrolls, and that's what's important. Yay! New content. Can't wait until you get to the Mage's Guild.
ok i need all of these quest then shivering isles and i don't think you done any lore on it but could you at somepoint do some lore on Morrowind i have a hard time playing it but i love the lore and i would love to hear my fav dark lore narrator talk about it
What I love best about Oblivion, is that ontop of its already present writing being some top-tier stuff, the game itself has such a wonderful setting and a host to locations that really make you inspired to get creative. Hell, I've had fun just writing a bit of a mini-series of an Orc Tourist from High Rock running around Cyrodiil. It may not be the most lore accurate, but definitely a very fun time.
I wish Azura would have taken in account that fact that, since you did contract porphyric hemophilia and did no heal after your quest, you were bound too to the same fate as her former servants
Thanks man. Nah, I had to pitch down my voice a scooch. I could go that low but I find I stop voice acting & focusing on trying to hold my voice in my chest 😅
I wonder why some vampires are completely feral while others like Janus and Vicente are fairly sane, is it simply due to feeding? Like do vampires who are starved simply go insane or is it just how the individual person's body reacts to the disease?
Phh, being put in the Book of Fate, that thing’s blank - ask Calixto. Azura is the first, but who will the next be? If we are going by least to most consistently evil, the next will be Meridia, if we are going in alphabetical order, the next will be Boethia, who is very firmly *not* one of the least consistently evil.
it could be argued that the price paid for azura isnt tragic. snatching azuras followers from molag bals vampire curse could be seen as freeing their souls from the fate of being a source of evil to their own beliefs. then again argonians do not care for the other races superstitious stuff that much. they rarely turn into vampires themselves.
I've always wondered why the NPCs seem to flip-flop on the pronunciation of "Daedra." "Deedra" or "Daydra?" The latter makes more sense to me based on spelling alone
Good eye! I use different clothing/armor based on questline then let it evolve. I'll reset it for each major guild too 😄 looking forward to all the fighters guild armor upgrades
To be frank I never understood this quest. How are these people unable to secure the means to cure themselves? If you can afford the weapons and armor to hunt vampires you should have the coin to cure yourself of their diseases. Just very bemused by how these people just gave up on ridding themselves of the vampire's taint
I don't know which I would prefer. Stock footage and automatic narration like you did, or if the books just remained quite little side chores. I do know the game might've been way more popular if you directed it yourself, dash. Speaking of which, you considered directing a game? ;v

Given they were vampires before their death, Molag Bal could have a claim to their souls, but with their devotion to Azura, would that even matter?
