Hey everyone! Thanks for all the love on the video! After one year on youtube, I'm celebrating by review the sequel to this game, Mega Man Legends 2. Come check it out! th-cam.com/video/6NoQfz4p3Fg/w-d-xo.html
Agreed. Really shows how much having a strong artistic direction and aesthetic is far more resilient in the face of time passing than graphical fidelity or attempting to capture realism.
This series is an example of art direction being absolutely timeless. This game has aged incredibly well from a visual perspective. The controls are archaic but visually it holds up extraordinarily well.
The best and probably the most underrated Megaman series in my opinion. I hope they revisit this world with MML3 or at least a reboot/remaster of these two original games and Misadventures of Tron Bonne. I'd snap those up in a heartbeat.
A terribly underrated game like bushido blade. The second one got a little corny with a lot of the reaverbot forms imitating animals. The reaverbots of the first one had an abstract quality that made them appear ominous. I hope a third one is made for PS4 or 5. A third bushido blade would be nice too.
Yo, true story, when the PS2 came out we kept our PSone basically for bushido blade and Tekken 3. But after like a year we were trying to find something similar for the PS2 and the quest turned up many contenders and they all sucked. Eventually we gave up and got into Onimusha.
Going to a record store in a town that existed in the megaman universe blew my mind when I was kid. Thought it was awesome since “rock” and “roll” save the world where they are from.
@15:50 During the Clozer Woods Subgate, when it seems Megaman is struggling to read the instructions in the control room - I've wondered if he's struggling to read it due to it being an unfamiliar, ancient language (we can't see what's written on the monitor, but its a safe bet its not a language used on the surface by the carbons!)... but through a perhaps scrambled, or vague memory he can somehow decipher it... Almost like it's foreshadowing who or what he could be! Great video by the way: I subscribed!
Honestly I never gave it much thought when playing, since I don't know if there are any other instances of him trying to read something or reading something for someone else. But that'd be really good foreshadowing!
On the way out after getting all 3 keys, Megaman does wonder what's happening to him, why he can read these ancient letters. So it is as you said, and its a nice little tidbit of foreshadowing for Megaman's origins.
15:45 in the game Mega Man has a line where he's surprised he can read the panel because it's written in a language he hasn't seen before. So him struggling to read it might be a fun dub detail put in to emphasize that.
Actually how Decoys/Carbons work in Rockman DASH is very simple you see Decoys were created to be the Fusion between man and machine more specifically Robot Masters from Rockman Classic and Reploids from Rockman X and because Decoys are essentially humanoid cyborgs they can replace their limbs and even entire bodies with machinery without surgery so the lower half of Rockman, Teisel, Glyde, Bola and Barrett isn't armor it is their lower half, and the mech that Bon Bon pilots isn't a mech it's his body, someone(most likely Tron)put Bon Bon's brain in the robot suit.
@@fuzzyslippersyt Also the whole purifier unit thing yeah the purifier unit's original Japanese names were Purging officer and Irregular Hunter, Irregular hunter being the Japanese name for Maverick hunter, Rockman Volnutt is the last Maverick.
Mega man legends and mega man battle network are two of the coolest game series in existence. I've never really played legends but my best video game friend had it growing up and I remember watching him play it and being fascinated. I was more into straight RPGs at the time but I cant help think about how similar this game is to the 3D Zelda games at the time.
5:32 Who gave data Crack? xDD Also, i always wondered why the Bonnes always used German like names for their mechs and ships. Gesell-schaft Gu-staff Feldynaught Jagd Krabbe. I suppose cause german named things = bad guy stereotype ? o.o;
We got stuck for the last portion of the game because we are destroyed all the enemies, and we can either get more money or something because of it. It was literally the lack of responsibility that kept us from playing this game back in the day.
This may have been addressed, but I think the reason why Megaman has difficulty reading the console isn't because he's young or illiterate; it's because the console was in an unknown language. He comments on it later in passing during the same ruins, saying "Why can I read this writing?" It's supposed to foreshadow his origins
I’m gonna be honest, I had NO idea that the Eden protocol was a ship that contained a bunch of reaver bots, I thought it was a “Rods of God” type weapon that just dropped and blew up the island lol. A reaver bot container makes way more sense
The game can get a bit confusing at times, especially on your first time. I think my first time was like 20 something hours since I was grinding for zenny alot.
16:00 i think he's struggling to read this because he's translating ancient text to english in real time. he even comments that he can understand the language somehow both there and in the main gate computer
I remember renting this as a kid and not knowing wtf to do id just run around confused i had never played a open world rpg type of game like that i need to go back and try it again now that i know wtf lol 😊
Just imagine it... someone finds a small abandoned child, looked at the little boy and said: "From now onwards your name shall be known as MEGA MAN". me be like 🤨
In the sequel, we learn through diary entrees that when Barrel found him, there were hints of his origin. His title was "Rockman Trigger/Megaman Trigger" and Barrel likely thought it was his name, so he changed his last name.
I guess i am one of the few that prefers the machine gun special arm, since i can manual aim with it and shot where enemies will be, made the sea and air battles so much easier. Pity you did not cover the troll capcom did, with clearing the hardest difficult awards you with the easiest difficult. this game is pretty tame, i managed to finish the japanese version with little problem, only the boat and Bones in abandoned city taking longer.
Gotta disagree. This game does not have better tank controls than Resident Evil. RE is much slower paced so the tank controls actually fit it well especially due to the pre-rendered backgrounds. They don't work as well in a fully 3D game which is the major reason I don't really revisit this title. Also, you can change how to rotate the camera from L1/R1 to the direction pad making those shoulder buttons strafing. I actually preferred that back in the day.
I am so mad. I should have listened to the guides and not used that fucking shield. It made Bruno light weight cause the energy attacks couldn't hit me. But this thing is stupid useless literally every were else. Except maybe the dogs. If they lunge at you and you use the shield. It's basically then running into a wood chipper. But I bought this thing against juno. Only to realize, this thing can't block any of his attacks 😂. Luckily I'm pretty descent at this game and the buster/strafing was enough to end him on the first attempt
Fun fact: In the robbery side quest, if you hand in the money, you get 20,000 zeni. If you _don't_ hand in the money, though... you get 200,000 zeni and your morality meter drops to zero, turning Megaman's armor the darkest it can be in one go. In reality, the kobun didn't actually steal the money. It was a business loan. If you return the money _or_ the car gets away, the Bonnes open a burger restaurant downtown. If you take the money for yourself, though, you find servbots around town complaining about how the money they borrowed ended up disappearing and putting the Bonne family into major debt. Lol A few years ago, they released a posable Megaman Volnutt figure in Japan (which I bought). However, there was also a special edition version of the figure exclusive to one event/shop where Megaman's armor was completely dark, his facial expressions were more stoic, and he came with a suitcase, referencing this side quest!

I don't think it's actually "cell-shaded". The artists fir this game were just absolute geniuses with basic textures.
Megamans little "Yes!!!" Fist after he walks in on Roll has me rolling every time.
The baby brother IS the mech. They replaced his entire body to keep him safe. It’s a baby’s brain inside a wrecking machine basically.
Good call letting that Wolf Pack theme play for a few seconds
This game looks amazing for a PS1, it aged greatly

I miss the Megaman Legends Series. There a lot of story plots and lore still untouched... Its sad...
🎻
Agreed, would be good if we get to visit Kattelox and Ryship island again.

It WAS being made for the 3DS. Then they pulled the plug in 2011. "Not enough fan support!" they said, yet there was a lot of outrage when they did.
Yo, true story, when the PS2 came out we kept our PSone basically for bushido blade and Tekken 3. But after like a year we were trying to find something similar for the PS2 and the quest turned up many contenders and they all sucked. Eventually we gave up and got into Onimusha.

I will always love megmaan legends

This is the retrospective Ive been waiting for. This series is my favorite, I treasure these games so much. very good job!
Love this game. This video really took me back.. I hope they do a remaster one day
Bro the music is SO GOOD
I still want Legends 3
If you aren't a boss at circle-strafing using the shoulder buttons, you didn't play enough PS1 games.
I played this on n64 tho
This deserves more views
Great video! I love how you broke down all of the side quests, I love this game
This game takes me back to my childhood. Endless nostalgia for this game and mmlegends 2. Megaman was my jam back then.
This was very entertaining! Please make one for Megaman Legends 2!
One of my favorite games of all times! I love the adventure game play and weapons finding/enhancing
Cool video with a good balance of info and personal opinion while also keeping it entertaining.
My all time favourite game! Been binging this channel since I saw the Getaway vids, top channel thanks!
My first PlayStation game also had the choice between this or Gex, glad i chose the right path
15:45 in the game Mega Man has a line where he's surprised he can read the panel because it's written in a language he hasn't seen before. So him struggling to read it might be a fun dub detail put in to emphasize that.
Thank you for this, I've been meaning to play through this game again and this really helps scratch the itch
I have a ps3 with these games saved on there. I've been playing them in various fashions over the past 25 years and I always enjoy them.
Great vid, I loved this game growing up
Loved the story telling. I can't wait to see legends 2
I remember how many times I had to re-start a game over and over because I didn't own a memory card for the N64, your intro really got to me.
Ooh I like that. I never considered the idea of Bon just being a brain in a robot.
@@fuzzyslippersyt Also the whole purifier unit thing yeah the purifier unit's original Japanese names were Purging officer and Irregular Hunter, Irregular hunter being the Japanese name for Maverick hunter, Rockman Volnutt is the last Maverick.
"Like a TV Evangelist, you cure her with the power of money." 😂😂😂😂

24:14 Me when I realize how many side quests I missed.
The homing missile launcher arm thing makes the fight even easier than the shining laser
I was lucky to have a memory card when I got this game.
This is great! Only can hope that they make a Megaman Legends 3
The racing game a chore? Aw man, I spent *a ton* of time on that as a kid! I _loved_ that game!
Definitely a challenge
The Megaman Legends series is always on my top fave series of games I played, still sad that they cancelled Legends 3.
Wow, this is a really good review and analysis. I'm surprised you only have 119 subscribers, you deserve more my friend. :)
Just started a new playthrough on an emulator, game is a classic!
this was a great game to play
Great video on a great game!
Lol the fact this looks comparable to current gen pokemon games is insanity. Plus it has voice acting
5:32 Who gave data Crack? xDD
Also, i always wondered why the Bonnes always used German like names for their mechs and ships.
Gesell-schaft
Gu-staff
Feldynaught
Jagd Krabbe.
I suppose cause german named things = bad guy stereotype ? o.o;
Misadventures of tron bonne please
We got stuck for the last portion of the game because we are destroyed all the enemies, and we can either get more money or something because of it. It was literally the lack of responsibility that kept us from playing this game back in the day.
best megaman game ever made

Really loved this megaman..too bad it didnt continue..
666th like! :o
Still hopelessly hoping for Legends 3. ;w;
Please please what is the name of the song in the beginning of this video? It's not on any of the MML OSTs on youtube, and I can't find it anywhere 😭
It's the Flutter Theme:

Bro mega man legends has the same canon story for everyone who played it as a kid
My first playthrough in 2018 took me 40 hours, did I just play really slowely? I didn't even unlock everything
The game can get a bit confusing at times, especially on your first time. I think my first time was like 20 something hours since I was grinding for zenny alot.
@19:04 the best song in the game
I like legends too.
You're stoned if you think Mega Man Legends' controls are better than Resident Evil's tank controls.
16:00 i think he's struggling to read this because he's translating ancient text to english in real time. he even comments that he can understand the language somehow both there and in the main gate computer
I never got a chance to own and play this game all the way through.
I remember renting this as a kid and not knowing wtf to do id just run around confused i had never played a open world rpg type of game like that i need to go back and try it again now that i know wtf lol 😊
We have modern releases of every other Megaman series I don't know why we can't get a pack of Legends 1, 2 and Misadventures.
Classic game
Amo este juego con mi vida, ñau

@@Junosensei Well that makes sense.
I know I finished this game at least 3 times when I was a kid but for the life of me.. I can't remember half of the scenes. :(
What's the good and bad ending? You mentioned not adopting the cat would get the bad ending. What's the bad ending? I can barely remember
I guess i am one of the few that prefers the machine gun special arm, since i can manual aim with it and shot where enemies will be, made the sea and air battles so much easier.

So is Tiesel's favorite show something that is made on Kattleox Island or is there a worldwide TV network? 🤔
We will hit a youtubers talking about megaman legends and 2 critical mass, then maybe, maybe well finally get 3
MM8 lol he called bass... "bass" lol
does no one know you can swap trigger buttons for directional in options?
